Linear Axis Applications - Linear axes are commonly used in many types of automation systems such as CNC machine tools and robotics. Stu-dents will use the 95-ME4 components to learn how to install, adjust, and test the operation of linear axis systems that use linear ball bearing bushings. The 95-ME4 includes linear bearings, chrome-plated guide rods and struc-tural components to assemble and industrial- quality automation axis.

Precision Ball Screw Drives - Precision ball screw drives are used to transmit high power with minimum backlash to linear axes. The 95-ME4 includes precision ball screw components that students will assemble, adjust, and test on a linear axis. The com-ponents include a re-circulating ball nut, ball screw, ball bearing support, and quadraplex bearing. The quadraplex bearing uses angu-lar contact bearings to handle radial and thrust loads created by the ball screw.

Brake / Clutch Systems - The 95-ME4 includes an electric brake and two types of clutches to teach meth-ods of controlling power transmission systems. It also includes a fl ywheel to create realistic industrial loads. The brake and one of the clutches are oper-ated by an electric control unit, which mounts to the 950-ME Workstation.
