It is clear to see that Almoayyed Computers has been transforming with time. This year the company is focusing on its cloud offerings at GITEX. Additionally, Almoayyed are showcasing various business applications that cater to a number of hot button vertical needs in the public sector, banking and finance, education, hospitality and retail.

Almoayyed Computers has been participating with its own stand in the GITEX for the last eight years. “We are able to source newer Technologies and Solutions at the GITEX,” says K. Giridhar, Sales

Manager, Almoayyed Computers. “GITEX helps us to grow all the areas of our business.”

According to Giridhar, the future for Almaoyyed Computers is bright. “We foresee a very positive growth in the regional ICT industry over the next 12 to 18 months, with strong increase in cloud business.” Infrastructure sales, he says, will be centered on private cloud implementations. According to Giridhar, there will an exponential growth in the cloud-based application deployment and support.

Arbor Networks is showcasing its portfolio of DDoS protection products and services that are

designed to meet the multi-dimensional needs of various organisations.

According to the company these products and services include new virtualised solutions for cost effective deployments, new fully managed services for enterprise customers, and increased scale to meet the growing threat from reflection/amplification attacks that can be massive in size.

Arbor Networks further highlights that an among the trends impacting businesses across the Middle East is DDoS that aims to make websites, applications and online services unavailable to legitimate

Almoayyed aims to connect with it’s valued customers and partners at GITEX. According to Giridhar, the show gives a boost to the company in terms of business. “GITEX helps us in connecting with many of our existing, new and potential customers and partners in that they are all under one roof within a small time window.”

users. The DDoS attacks are continuing to evolve in the Middle East and show a continuation of extremely high volume attacks. A majority of very large DDoS attacks also leverage a technique known as reflection amplification, accounting for 33.5 per cent of the total cyber-attacks worldwide.

Mahmoud Samy, Regional Director, High Growth Markets, Russia, CIS and Middle East, says, “GITEX is a premier technology event in the region and this is a show we do not want to miss as it is a credible platform for the entire technology ecosystem, from vendors to partners to customers. Moreover, the recent availability of cyber-crime tools and services has resulted to an unprecedented number of cyber-attacks and

network breaches. This has made it imperative for enterprises to bolster their protection. During GITEX, we’ll be helping businesses understand the threat landscape through our unique ATLAS global threat intelligence service, which leverages our vast customer deployments in service provider networks, and we’ll be discussing best practice defense for availability threats like DDoS attacks.”

Samy also underlines that the mega technology event is the perfect platform for them to meet new clients and interact with their existing customers and partners in the technology industry. “GITEX is also a great platform for us to strengthen our business relationships and client relations,” he adds.

them to cater to investor and business needs of reachability, transparency and value for money. It lets us target this segment better and help it grow by making our technology work for these businesses.”

As part of the agreement, Etisalat will cater to business customers who are also investors in Fujairah Free Zone, by developing exclusive promotions and packages based on specific needs of the businesses.

Sharif Habib Al Awadhi said, “Through our partnership with Etisalat, we are keen to provide our tenants and investors best-in-class services and connectivity.”

The week-long GITEX event will see Etisalat forge several strategic partnerships with local, regional and international partners.

Etisalat... Intracom Telecom launches medical knowledge platform

Intracom Telecom is launching its UKeMED, a medical knowledge platform, at GITEX Technology Week.

The platform, according to the vendor, is a key asset to their strategy to develop solutions for the healthcare industry. Developed in partnership with Cambridge

University Hospitals (CUH), the UKeMED platform contains medical content from universities, diagnostic centres, pathology labs, primary healthcare centres and homecare systems from across the globe.

The company highlights that the UKeMED platform focuses

Jean-Louis Fages, President and CEO

on three main areas which are training services and support on clinical and non-clinical content; ‘second opinion’ services; and telemedicine services.

Mohamed Ahmed, CEO, Intracom Telecom, says, “We strongly believe that the healthcare of the future will be network-based, in which digital technology and healthcare applications will play a significant role. In UKeMED, we have developed a cloud-based application dedicated to the healthcare industry that houses leading knowledge content and support services from Cambridge University Hospitals. We anticipate many other leading hospitals to join UKeMED as content providers to further diversify the platform’s transformation appeal to global hospitals and medical institutions.”

Gemalto will serve up its vision for a seamlessly connected, secure, and sustainable digital future at this year’s GITEX, and will complement it by presenting exclusive solutions and worldwide previews at the event. First in line will be the freshly launched Dynamic Code Verification card, which with its periodically changing three-digit security code will curb online payment fraud.

Next, GITEX will mark the world preview of Gemalto’s Coesys My eServices Kiosk, which enables secure access to eGovernment services anywhere-anytime, using a citizen’s eID card with a

PIN code or fingerprint as an authentication tool. “As part of our smart government demo pod at this year’s GITEX, we will also demonstrate how our Coesys mGov solution enables citizens to combine their contactless citizen or resident eID card with their NFC phones to authenticate and gain secure access to mobile-government services, turning their phones into a mobile ID,” explains Eric Claudel, President for Middle East & Africa at Gemalto.

As the mobile revolution continues, CIOs need to introduce authentication methods that are compatible with multiple devices,

says Claudel, many of which may not come equipped with a USB port or internal reader. To answer this issue, Gemalto will also preview it’s SafeNet Bluetooth Smart, which provides a secure PKI authentication solution, allowing users to authenticate from any device using Bluetooth technology.

Meanwhile, on the digital banking front, the wearable Optelio PayBand is a new cashless, contactless payment wristband, which can serve as a prepaid payment device, a transportation card, or a crowd management solution at large-scale events. Since the GCC countries are home to multiple mass-participation events including the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the Dubai World Cup at the Meydan Racecourse, as well as smart city initiatives in the lead up to Expo 2020 coming up, this new technology is set to fit right in.

IoT and smart cities are at the core of GITEX, particularly this year with the event’s ‘Internet Future of Everything’ theme, and segments covered span smart governments, digital payments, cloud security, and connected devices. Everyone, from governments to financial institutions, to enterprises, to telecommunication operators – all of which comprise Gemalto’s target market – attend the event. A strong ROI is a corollary of the

interest the event draws, which grows year on year.

The future of IoT, and in turn smart cities, relies on the ability of connected devices to inspire trust. Gemalto’s secure solutions – spanning machine-to-machine (M2M), as well as digital banking and payment, smart government, and mobile authentication services – have the ability to turn this tech-augmented future into a reality, by engendering trust, and GITEX presents a far-reaching, widely-attended platform to showcase this capability to the region and beyond.

The Middle East and Africa region is gearing up for heavy digital growth over the next few years: four billion networked devices are expected to be in place by 2020 with 78 percent of these mobile-connected by 2019, while machine-to-machine (M2M) modules are expected to account for 17 percent (358.9 million) of all networked devices in 2019, compared to 8 percent (112.1 million) in 2014. Meanwhile, regional governments are operating with mandates to scale up smart public services – for instance, as of recently, 98 percent of 337 of the UAE’s services are now accessible via smart platforms. As the region undergoes this digital transformation, its security needs are also mounting.

The signing also highlighted Huawei’s commitment to its new VAP with the investment in the development of a large scale tier-3 data centre at Salam Technology’s HQ in Qatar.

Mahmoud El Deeb, Managing Director, Salam Technology says, “We recognise that our customers demand better value and more flexibility from the technology industry and this partnership helps us to work with our customers to provide the best possible tailored solution. We look forward to learning from Huawei’s specialised training initiatives that will help us better sell its converged ICT solutions to our customer network.”

Due to its strategic significance in the region, Huawei has also announced that Salam Technology will be a ‘Named Channel Partner’,

which will see more resources allocated in an effort to provide the highest levels of support and knowledge.

Hany Hussein, Channel Vice President, Huawei Enterprise Middle East says, “Salam Technology is a great addition to our strategic Value Added Partner network because of its stellar reputation as a leading technology systems integrator in the Middle East. As Huawei’s tier-1 VAP, Salam Technology will enhance the company’s presence in the region through its robust channel network, which will be supported in the entire cycle of sales and technical support: right from pre-sales consultancy, solutions architecture and design, through post sales implementation and support.

“We can provide the right training and knowledge platforms for our partners to deliver exceptional value to their end-users within businesses and government. Through a close-knit, focused channel network, Huawei can create stronger incentives and provide partners with greater opportunities to maximise their profitability,” adds Hussein.
