Additionally, with a lot of digitalisation in the healthcare industry, the team will also be demonstrating their health check and tele health and tele medicine technologies.

If you have participated at GITEX before, what is the relevance of this show to your business in the region?

GITEX is not just important to create brand visibility and recall for us, but also educate the industry

on our latest offerings. Customer’s today are exposed to an ocean of information but making them understand on what really is suited for their industry and business type is the big question. GITEX proves to be the best platform in imparting this kind of awareness as well as enabling a hands-on experience for all visitors on our technology. In fact, apart from our core products, we also have a lot of opportunities to interact with IT resellers and leading players who want to add our brands to their portfolio.

Does GITEX help you connect with your customers and partners?Yes definitely, in fact all our vendors are engaged with our marketing team almost six months prior to the show to have the latest

products showcased. They are all highly enthusiastic about having a focused strategy for the show to highlight most relevant products via live demonstrations, marketing collaterals and special discounts, which can be availed off during the event. This is mainly because with each passing year they have witnessed the success of our participation at GITEX, with a lot of new channel partners,  customers and prospects coming on board. We have also instilled a lot of faith in ours as well as our channel partner’s customers, as they have recognised our ongoing initiatives in launching the most innovative products. In today’s agile trends, business valueand ROI are the key concerns for all decision makers and we have been able to connect as well as serve these prevailing needs.

What kind of IT trends do you expect to have an impact on the regional ICT industry over the next 12-18 months? It is quite evident that be it any industry, the world is now moving towards getting mobile. It is the age of the most innovative technologies coming in to play, with a lot of opportunities in the Security and Applications arena too. As a value added distributor, we are always on the go to ensure that we cater to these dynamic ICT trends with the support of our channel partners and vendors.  We possess the required bandwidth and the technical expertise in each product line, which helps us offer a more focused approach on professional services for each industry.

This year, in 2015 we decided to participate as we see the business intelligence and analytics market growing at double digit figures. opportunity to come and see what else they can do with our solutions to improve their decisions making on a day-to-day basis.

As for partners, it is a great event. So far on day 1 and 2 we have had partners from Turkey, Nigeria, Italy, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan, Morocco and Singapore visit us.

What kind of IT trends do you expect to have an impact on the regional ICT industry over the next 12-18 months?Over the next 12 to 18 months I believe we will see a big move in two areas. The first is mobility; I believe it is time now that we will see corporations extending applications and access for their users to mobile devices, a concept of access anytime anywhere anyplace. Users are now becoming more demanding how and when they access their applications; mobility will be key to the efficiency and success of corporations in the future.

The second area I believe will make a big impact is an empowering user. This is where corporations will empower users to make decisions, empower users with applications they need to really make the difference in the fast paced business world. Corporations will be required to provide users with collaboration technology in order to make decisions and take actions without having to wait several levels of approvals.

Kodak Alaris is providing a preview of its new, mobile-ready version of the Kodak Info Input Solution At GITEX 2015.

Info Input Solution is a web-based document capture application that provides a way to integrate capture into existing enterprise content management (ECM) and line of business applications.

Organisations that implement Info Input can be more responsive to customers, while driving down costs and enjoying the efficiencies experienced with web-based

business applications. The solution allows IT

departments to centrally manage the deployment and support of Info Input on desktops and mobile capture devices. It also aims to eliminate per-user licences and volume-based click charges.

The new version of Info Input allows users to capture and index information via smartphone or tablet. The information is then integrated into existing workflows through a connection with the Info Input Application Server.

“The Kodak Info Input mobile app addresses a growing trend in the ECM industry toward enhanced mobile integration,” said Emma Isichei, Director of Capture Solutions, Information Management Division, Kodak Alaris. “By extending our applications to smartphones and tablets, we continue to address our customers’ document capture needs.”

Oracle today announced the general availability of MySQL 5.7, the latest version of its open source database.

The new version delivers greater performance, scalability manageability and security, and makes it easier to connect

applications to multiple MySQL databases.

Abdulrahman Al Thehaiban, VP Middle East and Africa, Oracle, said, “MySQL 5.7 delivers a wide range of innovations allowing developers, database administrators and DevOps

teams to build and manage next-generation Web and cloud-based applications capable of processing ever increasing volumes of data. MySQL 5.7 builds upon development milestone releases that have enabled users to preview, test and provide feedback during the development process – and as a result, this release has been a collaborative process involving many members of the MySQL community.

“We’ve also included requests from customers and partners such as Expanded Geographic Information System (GIS) Support for Mobile Applications, which includes spatial index support in InnoDB, GeoJSON, and GeoHash support.”

Key enhancements in MySQL 5.7, enhanced speed: In benchmark tests using SysBench Read-only Point-Selects, at 1,024 connections, MySQL 5.7 delivered 1,600,000 queries per second (QPS) - 3x faster than MySQL 5.6.

The new version has additional firewalls and delivers easier and safer instance initialization, setup and management.

Enhancements to MySQL’s replication features include multi-source replication, enhanced Global Transaction Identifiers (GTIDs), and improved multi-threaded slaves for better scalability and availability.

MySQL 5.7 is scheduled to be available for download at http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/ on October 26, 2015.
