Ingram Micro...partners. According to the company, it is a vendor to user platform, where the user can log in and buy what he needs as a cloud service, irrespective of if it is server, power, storage or applications. The distributor aims to introduce it in the region by early 2016.

Ali Baghdadi, SVP and Chief Executive, Middle East, Turkey and Africa, Ingram Micro, says, “All these services are now available on the Ingram Micro Cloud and can be managed by the reseller or the distributor on behalf of the reseller or the end user himself; and we can bundle services along with that.”

The company has also launched a comprehensive range of education initiatives such as Cloud University and certifications.

Baghdadi says partners have a huge opportunity in the cloud space.

“There are so many different aspects for partners, and we have a whole range of education programmes to complement these opportunities. We have to entice and educate them on the benefits of undertaking cloud offerings. Partners need to join our Cloud University to learn more on how to sell a cloud solution and retain customer loyalty.”

The regional distributor is one of the few global players who have been appointed by Microsoft for its Cloud Service Provider (CSP) programme

region. We are growing our CSP programme with Microsoft in November. We are excited about that as it gives us the ability to enable our partners to start introducing new solutions.”

Over the next few months, Microsoft CSP is going to be the distributor’s main play.

“We are setting up in every single country what we call the console, which will allow us to push and serve the customers and partners, we are doing this in Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and UAE. It will be rolled out to the whole region.

“We have nearly 70 vendors plugged into our cloud offerings. We are doubling in size almost every year and we are growing by over 30 percent,” adds Baghdadi.

At GITEX this year, Juniper Networks will focus on how technology is rapidly changing business models and user expectations, and the evolving network infrastructure required to adapt to these changes. Juniper will demonstrate how its solutions enable organisations to transition to open, cloud infrastructure with an agile network foundation that can scale and adapt with business demands.

At this year’s event Juniper will have two distributors and four partners on site showcasing joint solutions with Juniper. The participating distributors and partners are EMW, ITQAN, MDS, Mindware, Westcon and

VMware. They will be covering the following topics and technologies: Software Defined Networking, Juniper Networks MetaFabric Architecture, Juniper Unite for the Cloud Enabled Enterprise, Junos Fusion Data Center, Junos Fusion Enterprise, security intelligence and analytics. EMW, Mindware and VMware will also have technical demonstrations available at the Juniper Networks booth.

Today introduced Juniper Networks Unite, a new reference architecture that provides simplified and secure network infrastructure solutions required to modernise enterprise campus and branch networks into cloud-enabled service platforms. Based

Juniper announces Unite architecture

on Juniper’s latest networking software, systems and cloud services, Juniper Unite will deliver an agile and secure network architecture for enterprises looking to quickly deploy cloud applications and services through a single, easy-to-manage network management platform.

Everything is moving to the cloud. From public to private and hybrid, enterprises are making cloud their default operating model for applications and services. This makes enterprise campus networks even more critical as an on-ramp to cloud-based applications. “Network infrastructure must be able to support emerging highly virtualised, intelligent, application-aware enterprise and cloud-based communications requirements. The multifaceted demands that new infrastructure and application strategies place on the network cannot be overstated,” said Danellie Young, research director and Bjarne Munch, principal research analyst at Gartner, Inc.

The Juniper Unite architecture provides the building blocks required to modernise enterprise network infrastructure and support new deployment and management paradigms, enabling customers to experience the same automation and scale as in MetaFabric-enabled data centre and cloud environments. With Juniper Unite, customers can dynamically automate their network resources to meet their growing business needs and support today’s operations while preparing for the future.

SETS and Dell successfully organised an event, “Come and Experience VDI” at the Movenpick Hotel Beirut on Tuesday the 13th of October 2015, in collaboration with Dell.

The event hosted IT and business leaders from different industries. The audience was introduced to latest Dell Solutions for cloud client-computing and desktop virtualisation. Dell Wyse offers cohesive and easily managed end-to-end VDI solutions, from the data center to the end user device,

enabling organisations to improve security, gain greater control, and enhance workers productivity and IT efficiencies.

Live demos and proof of concepts were conducted to demonstrate how Dell VDI solutions reduce the time it takes to plan, install, deploy, operate, and manage VDI environments by up to 6 times and at 27 percent lower cost than traditional VDI solutions. It takes only 4 easy steps from unpacking one of Dell VDI appliances to getting up to 150-200 fully functional virtual desktops, in a fraction of the time it would normally take.

Commenting on this event, Maher Chahlawi, CEO at SETS, said, “SETS

is proud to be a Dell exclusive agent in Lebanon, offering Dell’s world class enterprise portfolio for more than 20 years now. This successful event highlights our commitment towards VDI and our readiness to address the market need through a dedicated expert team certified by Dell. We believe that customers can rely on Dell cloud client-computing solutions for secure, easy-to-manage, scalable desktop virtualisation, allowing them to protect vital content, reduce the time and cost of managing desktops and enable user mobility.”

Samer Jayouzi, Cloud Client Computing Director for MEA and CEE at Dell, commented, “Dell is the world

leader in VDI solutions and thin client endpoints. Dell is also the #1 brand worldwide in thin/sero clients as per IDC, the foremost VDI market research firm. Wyse, acquired by Dell, invented the thin client and has over 250 patents in thin client/VDI technology. With 43,000 VDI deployments during 2014 and nearly 200,000 engineering hours developing, testing and optimising our CCC solutions, we believe your choice is simple. We have received a lot of positive feedback from the customers who attended the event, thanks to SETS, which confirms the emerging need for Cloud Client Computing (CCC) and desktop virtualisation solutions in this market.”
