HP...embrace it as it will stimulate the use of further services. “The region is looking for content to feed the cloud,” Poisson says. “If you’re a government entity you want to use the cloud to build services and follow the example of existing services that can be provisioned via the cloud. This will act as a business enabler.”

In terms of the company’s regional strategy in the near future, Poisson sees huge potential. “We plan to invest in the right resources and partner ecosystem, and see the capacity for a lot of development here,” he says. “In two years’ time cloud is expected to be 25 percent of the global IT market, and as a disruptive force HP stands to be a leader in this field.”

Bit 9 + Carbon Black is promoting the company’s tagline, ‘arm your endpoints’ at this year’s ICT event, GITEX Technology Week 2014.

Aquib Aftab, Regional Director, Bit9+Carbon Black says the regional security landscape is evolving as businesses implement new and emerging technologies.

Aftab says, “The focus is to meet as many customers and partners as possible. From an IT security perspective, there has been a lot of investments being done by customers on the network side of the business, but very little done on the end points and server. Most customers believe that antivirus will take care of these security threats,

however, antivirus is fighting a lost battle. There are dedicated zero-day, targeted and malware attacks which are happening across the globe and these antivirus solutions are not good enough.”

“GITEX is a huge PR exercise for the entire region as everyone comes here. We have grown to a certain level and we are expanding people in the region by placing people in certain potential countries. We are doing couple of partnerships with certain resellers. It is one platform where you may not think of someone and end up meeting them. It is a great platform to be present at.”

The company is trying to educate the customers about emerging

threats and claims it has been successful in doing so. Today, he says, customers are aware about how the market dynamics are transforming and understand the paradigm shift in terms of traditional approach to security solutions.

The company is looking to grow by 100 percent by the end of this year.

How long have you been exhibiting at GITEX?F5 Networks has attended GITEX since it first set up operations in the region seven years ago. We’ve had our own stand for the past four years as our presence and influence continues to grow.

What is the relevance of the exhibition to your business in the region?

GITEX is a great place for us to raise general industry awareness about what we do and provide input to thought-leadership discussion on topics like cloud, the evolution of the software defined data centre and security.

How do you believe GITEX is an indication of ICT health in region/what do you believe is special about GITEX this year?

GITEX is a wonderful indicator of the region’s ICT health. Every year the show becomes more innovative, engaging and influential. F5 Networks is proud to contribute this rapid and continued progress.

What will you be doing special at GITEX/will you be launching any new solutions? This year’s show is probably the most prominent showcase yet for our Software Defined Application Services capabilities. Our key differentiator here is F5 Synthesis, an architectural vision that promotes the delivery and orchestration of SDAS throughout data centre, cloud, and hybrid environments.

Synthesis is a direct response to an IT landscape with exponentially increasing users, internet-connected devices and vital applications. To support this growth, we see the ability to massively scale services, elastically provision resources, and interoperate with a variety of open and proprietary platforms as unavoidable and essential.

What are the key trends we can expect in the next two years? The key trends we see in the region include the increasing importance of cloud, the move towards the software defined data centre, and the security. The latter is particularly important in the region, which has a significant

smart device user-base and huge tech-driven development plans. The onus is now on businesses and organisations to do everything they can to better understand the diversity of attacks they are likely to face and get their defences in order. Those that get it right will be rewarded with customer loyalty and profit. Those that don’t are likely to take a big hit in terms of brand damage, quality of service and overall competitiveness

Are you planning on being back next year?F5 Networks will be back next year bigger and stronger, and we are already looking forward to it!

Q&A with F5 Network’s Diego Arrabal
