Height Safety Lifting Load Control Safety Management PHS TRAINING 6 SARA (Search and Rope Access) Supervisor 01 DURATION 5 Days RATIO OF TRAINERS TO TRAINEES 1 Trainer to 4 Trainees PRE-COURSE INSTRUCTIONS AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS All trainees must hold a current SARA Operative or equivalent qualification prior to commencing this course. - All delegates to be registered on the course registration form. - All delegates to be advised of the following: - Fire procedures - Toilets and Welfare OVERVIEW The course is designed to provide: - The ability to select Rope Access for appropriate situations. - The knowledge to identify how other access methods can be used in relation to Rope Access and how to select the most appropriate technique. - The knowledge required to maintain a Search Team SARA Capability. - The knowledge required to operate a SARA Team in an operational environment. - The skills required to supervise and perform rescues in areas/situations where Search Teams are most commonly tasked to operate. - Officers will be able to supervise the inspection, care and maintenance of all the associated equipment required for the techniques. COURSE SUMMARY - Officers to carry out a multiple choice test of the key points of safe work at height - Officers to carry out a practical assessment of all the techniques covered - Areas of concern to be addressed by both the trainer and the officers - Summarise the key points of the course - Issue course feedback forms - Thank the officers for attending

COURSE JOININGINSTRUCTIONSCOURSE ASSEMBLYUnless otherwise stated, all courses are held atSpanSet (UK) Limited and will assemble at0900 hrs daily. Delegates should report to themain training reception upon arrival.

EQUIPMENT & CLOTHINGAll equipment required throughout the coursewill be provided by SpanSet Ltd.Candidates should provide their owncomfortable clothing and safety footwear, withprovision made for inclement weatherconditions, i.e. fleeces, waterproofs, windproof,etc.

FOOD & REFRESHMENTRefreshments will be provided throughout theday on all courses.A lunch will be provided on all courses of a dayor more in duration held at SpanSet.

ASSESSMENT METHODSDetails of written assessments

All candidates will carry out a multiple-choice testcovering the key points of the course. If a candidate gets a total score of less than 80% thenthe trainer will explore the candidates’ knowledge ofthe topic. Where the candidate has a goodunderstanding of the topic the result may beamended.

Details of other assessment methodsDuring the course of the day the candidates will becontinually verbally assessed by the trainer usingworking examples and scenarios to determine thecandidates understanding of a specific topic.

EQUIPMENT COVERED DURING TRAININGRope access equipment including:- Harnesses- Helmets- Descenders- Ascenders- Ropes and Rigging EquipmentSamples of other associated equipment including:- Fall arrest Harnesses and Lanyards- Alternative Work Positioning Equipment- Items of Defective Equipment for Inspection

FEEDBACK TO CLIENT AFTER COURSE- Certificate for all officers valid for three years- Photo ID cards for all officers, valid for three years- Written appraisal of trainee can be provided if

required

RECORDS TO BE MAINTAINED BY SPANSET- Course registration sheet- Copy photo for duplicate issue- Course feedback forms where completed
