Application Preferences for the behaviour you want

Behaviour of the Ribbon when you switch the "front window". • None – the selected ribbon tab does not change

when you change windows. • Last tab – each window “remembers”

the last ribbon tab that was used. • Automatic – each window type

(Map, Browser and Layout Designer) switches back to their applicable tab.

Backwards compatibility of data and workspaces

Data tables are compatible in both versions.• Check the release notes for information on the

implications of 32 bit versus 64 bit versions of Microsoft Office.

Workspaces created in the 32 bit versions of MapInfo Pro will open in the 64 bit version.• Graph windows not supported.• Legacy Layout window not supported.

– In the 64 bit version, Layout windows are converted to Layout Designer windows to the extent possible.

Workspaces created in the 64 bit version of MapInfo Pro can be opened in the equivalent level 32 bit version.

Backwards compatibility for MapBasic applications

Existing MapBasic applications will run in the 64 bit version of MapInfo Pro but with some exceptions.

• Applications that call 32 bit DLLs will need to be upgraded.

• Calls to Windows functions might or might not work, depending on changes in the Operating System.

• The 64 bit version does not have the Graph window nor the Legacy Layout window.

MapBasic applications will appear in the Tool Manager and menus and buttons will appear on a special Legacy tab.

You might be wondering…

Is the 64-bit version a separate product? Does it cost extra? • No. The same serial number and access code work

for both the 32 bit version and the 64 bit version.

What version number is the 64-bit release?• Version 15.2 is the current version.

Can I run both versions side-by-side?• Yes.

Does running both consume two activations?• No. When you install v15.2 you will enter the same

serial number and activation code but you will not have to activate.
