There is renewed focus on optimising production from the relatively mature exploration province of the MEA, Asia and South America regions. With an

estimated 970 billion bbl of discovered unconventional oil in the region, a major portion of which remains undeveloped, IOR offers immense opportunities for the

MEA region.

Extracting oil from unconventional resources in the Middle East is met with various challenges owing to the fact that majority of the oil in the region lies in

carbonated resources. A range of IOR/EOR methods exist to improve recovery, the widely deployed ones being gas injection (CO2, natural gas, nitrogen),

chemical injection, microbial injection and thermal injection (cyclic steam, steam flooding, fire flooding). New technological innovations in IOR facilitate the

conversion of resources to reserves economically.

At the 6th Annual Global Improved Oil Recovery Praxis Interactive Technology Workshop, senior engineers and industry experts explore the latest

techniques and developments to achieve production optimisation. In addition they will debate and discuss during the interactive breakout sessions economically

feasible ways to accelerate production by adopting marked approaches in chemical and biochemical EOR, reservoir surveillance, screening and design of EOR

methods and improved design and implementation for carbonate reservoirs.
