MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER

CWL NEWS

POPE’S PASTORAL WORKS COLLECTION MAY 25

A disastrous flood or earthquake strikes a nation at the other

end of the world. Immediately many countries rush in food,

medicine, blankets, money, and trained people. Prominent

among such aid is the financial help offered by the Holy Father

to people in need. In the name of Catholics everywhere, he

displays Christ’s love and compassion for those who suffer.

Each year at this time, Canadian Catholics are asked to give

generously to this papal collection, which is passed on to the

Holy Father for his use.

CATHOLIC MENS GROUP

ACCOMMODATION NEEDED

Volunteers from Crossroads, a national collegiate pro-life or-

ganization that sponsors a pro-life walk across Canada each

summer, will be visiting the parish the weekend of May 31 &

June 1 and speaking briefly at the end of all the weekend

Masses.

Crossroads was started in 1995 in response to Pope St. John

Paul II’s words at World Youth Day in 1993 when he chal-

lenged the youth of the World to “be not afraid to take the gos-

pel of Life to the streets like the first Apostles.” Taking the

Holy Father’s challenge literally for past 19 years, students

from colleges and universities across North America have been

walking the highways and byways of Canada and the U.S. each

summer and working to help build a Culture of Life. Their mis-

sion as they walk is to take the pro-life message to the streets

through their prayerful and peaceful pro-life witness.

This summer, volunteer college students will be walking

thousands of kilometers with Crossroads on their four simulta-

neous Summer 2014 pro-life walks. The walks started in Van-

couver, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles on May 24th

and will end with simultaneous pro-life rallies in Ottawa and

Washington, DC on August 16.

If you would more information about Crossroads or would like

to support their efforts please visit www.crossroadswalk.org -

Thank you.

prayer with the Rosary on Tuesday 27th May at 7pm. This is an

opportunity for an hour of prayer and mediation out of our busy

lives. We will pray a full Rosary with all 4 Mysteries Joyful,

Luminous, Sorrowful, Glorious. The evening is open

to Rosary experts and complete novices. If weather permits, we

will pray at the Grotto behind the Church. If you have never

prayed the Rosary before come along and find out just how

powerful meditative prayer can be. If anyone has any ex-

tra rosaries, please could you bring them along to share for

the evening. Any questions - please contact Cara Reed at 250

Volunteering

If you have time to offer mentoring with our guys or you would

like to volunteer in our kitchen, if you have a particular trade or

skill that Freedom’s Door would normally have to pay for when

needing renovations or repairs to our facility (IE: plumbing,

electrical) and would like to donate your time, this would help

us by reducing labor costs for building upkeep. To volunteer or

obtain more information please call us and we would be happy

to arrange a tour of the building and discuss our needs.
