• Diffuse agricultural pollution identified as a barrier to ‘Good Ecological Status’.

• Working with farmers to reduce agricultural impacts through win-win solutions.

• Interest to Coca-Cola: reduces diffuse pollution and increases water security.

We worked with the University of Cranfield who adapted the models from the Curve Number Approach so they could be used for the Nar catchment…

… to date, using this methodology, we estimate that we have stored 160,000,000 litres of water in the environment

Demonstrating benefit“We will Replenish (balance) the water used in our finished beverages by participating in locally relevant projects that support communities and nature. We will meet and maintain the goal of being fully balanced by the year 2020”. The Coca-Cola Company

• Poor morphology identified as a barrier to ‘Good Ecological Status’.

• 1.8km river restoration to the River Nar headwaters

• Interest to Coca-Cola: reduces diffuse pollution and increases water security.

Demonstrating benefit

There was no approved methodology for quantifying habitat restoration in terms of a physical quantity of water…

… we have worked with the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology to develop a new methodology. This is based upon demonstrating improvements in flow and depth for salmonids.
