FOREWORD

Greetings! In this book is offered a new religion. All Gods are honored, celebrated and praised

as aspects of the One True God, by whatever Name or Names you call God. What is offered below is

based on the Qabalistic Tree of Life and the Thelemic Pantheon. It may, however, be adapted and

used by anyone of any religious background or preference, the atheist and the agnostic. What is shownis a means to an end, which is Magickal and Spiritual Enlightenment. Every person, no matter who

you are, will benefit from reading this book.

Simply reading and studying what is offered in this book will, in and of itself, plant holy seeds

within the consciousness of the reader, which will take root and grow over time in a healthy way.

Whether you perform the ceremonies suggested below, physically or mentally, is another matter. They

are recommended. However, simply studying the rituals, the Oaths and the philosophy offered in this

book will further your Initiation and assist you in performing and accomplishing the Great Work which

you have been placed on this Earth to do.

Within the confines of this book is offered a complete System of Initiation. The Work to attainthe most exalted states of Initiation is addressed in such a way that, if the student uses what is offered

with a sincere, humble and devoted heart, nothing else is needed. All the guidance you need is here.

The writer has been charged to assist in the magickal, spiritual and material evolution of

mankind by offering a new approach to Initiation which is more in step with the present times. The

practice of Magick is a noble art and science. It is not dark in any way. To the contrary, the Work is

of the nature which dispels darkness or ignorance.

Too much light is blinding. So we step into the Light in little steps. Each step is taken with

care and due consideration of the evolving perspective. Nevertheless, a cover to cover reading of this

book is encouraged at the inception to get a big picture. This will assist in gaining perspective on theWay of Return along the Royal Path of Initiation.

Our lives are a great and wondrous magickal and spiritual adventure. Each of us is the main

figure in a Great Divine Drama. Life presents opportunity, no matter what your circumstances may be.

You are given the opportunity to embrace Truth and Justice in all of your experiences, which requires

courage. You wear the Crown of God. This is Truth. You are being guided and moved in all that you

do. Initiation involves Becoming aware of your True Nature so you may emulate Divine Being. If

you can approach the Work with an open mind and an almost Childe-like innocence and attitude, your

Eye may be opened to the wonder of Life and the magickal nature of all your experiences.

No matter what has occurred in your life, no matter where you are or what you have done, youhave a chance to rise fresh each day, to make a new life for yourself and to influence the lives of those

around you. We practice Magick through how we live our lives, and through the symbols we are

given, which includes family and friends, business acquaintances and others we encounter in our lives.

By being a Source of Light and Love, by being a Source of Truth and Justice, we further our own

Initiations and assist others in their Initiation.

INTRODUCTION

The Sanctuary's System of Initiation is based on a series of Oaths of Initiation, some relating to

the Sephiroth, and others relating to the Paths, on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. These are discussed in

the Guide to the Oaths of Initiation, which tells a story of Initiation (and, for this reason, is best to beread in its entirety). The Guide also provides fairly detailed information on how to structure your work

using the Oaths of Initiation. These are designed to be used in tandem with the Ritual of the Stars,

which is an evolved (and evolving) form of ritual described in the Scroll of the Ritual of the Stars.

The fundamentals of the Sanctuary's System of Initiation are set forth in the following

You are encouraged to begin using the Sanctuary's System of Initiation if it appeals to you. It

is the basis of all magickal, mystical and initiatory work through the Sanctuary. Alternatively, may

this information assist you on the Royal Path of Initiation no matter what System of Initiation you use.

In offering this System of Initiation, we seek to reach and initiate more Children than have thus

far been reached by other magickal orders and religious establishments which have previously

manifested. We are guided that this can be done by dispensing with some old ways, and bringing in a

fresh approach which is more in tune with our times. Our Work is to assist with the magickal, spiritual

and material evolution of the human race by providing an approach to Initiation which is healthy,

balanced and focused, and usable by all no matter what religious background you may have or comefrom. You are encouraged to dispel skepticism through direct experience.

May the information available in this Book, and our work through the Sanctuary of Thoth,

assist you in evolving as a source of Light and Love to others and the entire Universe. And so do we

heal the human race and accomplish the Great Work of Thelema here on Earth and throughout the

Planes, to the Glory of the Goddess!

The following is a brief description of the documents included in this book for ease of reference

and to assist you in the selective reading process:

An End to Suffering (Insights from Buddhism)

This short paper describes, in certain ways, the Mission of the Sanctuary, which is to put an end

to the suffering of mankind, and assist in their Healing. This may be done using the Sanctuarys

System of Initiation, or any other complete System of Initiation. You choose. However, whatever

System you use, may you take action to perform and accomplish your Holy Work, which must not beleft undone. As you Heal, you also assist in the Healing of others.

A Call to Nuit (An Invocation of the Star Goddess)

You are encouraged to use this Call (or a variation on the theme) regularly at the inception of

your ceremonial work, and at any other time you feel it appropriate.

The Formulae of the Sphere (The Magick Circle)

This paper addresses the fundamental importance of comprehending your Sphere (which is

your True Magick Circle), and the formulae of the Sphere in the Practice of Magick.

The Purification & Consecration of the Sphere (Suggestions for the Newcomer)

This paper provides simple suggestions on how to perform the important magickal acts of

purifying and consecrating the Sphere (and all within). It also gives suggestions on how to initially

set-up a simple altar to be used in magickal workings.

The Scroll of the Ritual of the Stars

This was the first paper ever received describing the System of Initiation now offered through

the Sanctuary. The Scroll describes (among other things) the Magickal Formulae to organize theSphere relevant to the Work of Children of the First and Second Orders. It describes a Ritual, which is

varied based on the nature of the Work, and may be performed mentally or physically with equal

success. Your method of performing the Ritual of the Stars will evolve as you evolve magickally,

spiritually and materially. The most important thing for the aspirant is to undertake the Holy Work.

Things will evolve from there.

The Guide to the Oaths of Initiation

From a historical perspective, the Scroll of the Ritual of the Stars was first received, then the

Oaths of Initiation for the Sephiroth and Paths were issued (which follow below), and then the Guide

to the Oaths of Initiation was received, further elaborating and initially completing the Sanctuarys

System of Initiation through the Work of the Second Order. A great deal of information is provided inthe Guide which supplements the Scroll of the Ritual of the Stars. When working with any Oath, it is

recommended that you initially review the portions of the Scroll and the Guide which relate to your

Work. It is then recommended that you review the contents of the other papers in this book which

relate to your Work. (For this reason, a general reading of this book is recommended at inception so

you become aware of the contents of the various papers.) The Sanctuarys System of Initiation is

highly integrated. All relevant papers must, however, be considered. Each Step on the Way of Return

is accurately addressed in what is given below. By carefully considering what is said in this book

about each aspect of the Work, the Eye will stay focused on the Work and the True keys to the

Initiation process, which will further your Initiation.

The Oaths of Initiation for the Sephiroth

The Oaths of Initiation for each Sephira on the Tree of Life are included. You are encouraged

to study the progression of these Oaths to gain insight into the Initiation process.

The Oaths of Initiation for the Paths

The Oaths of Initiation for the Paths on the Tree of Life, including the Four Secret Paths of

Life, Liberty, Love and Light, are included in the order in which they would be taken on the Royal

Path of Initiation.

The Holy Oil

This paper describes the preparation and keeping of the Holy Oil used in consecration. You are

encouraged to regularly use Holy Oil in your Work.

A Charge (Applied in the context of preparing some Incense)

The Spell given in this paper is adaptable for many purposes. It is designed to teach aspirants

how to rightly project energy. You are encouraged to use and adapt the Charge as appropriate to the

focus of your Work.

The Ritual of the Crown

This simple ritual is for use by all on the Way of Return (regardless of the level of Initiation),

and contains important magickal formulae concerning the Natal Crown. The importance of this paper

in the context of the teachings of the Sanctuary cannot be over-emphasized.

The Scroll of the Pentagram Formulae for the First Order

This Scroll describes the Pentagram Formulae for the First Order, and provides detailed

Pentagram Rituals evolved in the context of the Ritual of the Stars designed to assist aspirants in

completing the work of the First Order at all phrases of the work. A new Banishing Earth Pentagram

Ritual is given to the Childe of Earth. Specific Pentagram Rituals are then given to work with eachelement, and aspects of each element. Finally, a new approach to the Pentagram Formulae for the

Dominis Liminis is set forth. This Scroll also gives insight into Elemental Work on the Higher Planes.

You are encouraged to review this Scroll for informational purposes and to use the formulae from an

initiatory perspective. The new formulae are designed to be more useable than rituals of "old" by all

Children of the Goddess.

A Note Regarding the Hexagram Formulae for the First and Second Orders

This paper supplements the guidance provided in several of the other papers issued by the

Sanctuary as to the right use of the Hexagram formulae by members of the First and Second Orders.

Rites of Initiation for the Sephiroth

This provides a simple formula to assist you in constructing your own Holy Rites of Initiation

into the Sephiroth using what has been given in this book. The Pentagrams, the Hexagrams and the

Chakras are each addressed. May this assist you along the Way of Return.

A Note Regarding Astrology

This paper recommends several books on astrology and an ephemeris. It further discusses how

geographic astrology is secondary to the true subject of learning the Astrological or Magickal

Formulae of the Sphere, the Planes and the Natal Crown. It also refers to the Tarot as the most exaltedbook on astrology, which may be used to unlock these Mysteries using the keys to Initiation given

in this book.

The Daily Conjurations

This paper gives the Ritual of Daily Conjurations, showing how the Temple may be opened in

Ygdrasil (which is the Most Holy Tree of Life, and the Source of all Life). Ygdrasil is commonly

addressed in other papers included in this book.

The Invocations (The Formula of Invocation)

This paper discusses the Magickal Formula of Invocation, and how to rightly use the

Invocations of the Gods which follow in this book.

The Invocations of the Gods

In addition to the Call to Nuit (An Invocation of the Star Goddess) referenced above,

Invocations of Ra, Horus, Thoth, Isis, Amoun and Hathoor are included. These, with Babalon the

Beautiful, are the Gods regularly invoked in the magickal practices of the Sanctuary and recommended

to those using the Sanctuarys System of Initiation. It is recommended that Ra be invoked on the Dayof the Sun, Isis on the Day of the Moon (or the Day of Saturn), Horus on the Day of Mars, Thoth on

the Day of Mercury, Amoun on the Day of Jupiter, Hathoor on the Day of Venus and Nuit on the Day

of Saturn (as the Day of the Goddess Most High).

A Ritual to Celebrate the Festival of the Equinox

This is one of the original papers expanding upon the Sanctuary's System of Initiation. It offers

a ritual (and related guidance) to celebrate the Festival of the Equinox on every Vernal and Autumnal

Equinox. You are encouraged to review this paper for magickal formulae, and to perform the Ritual

when appropriate (shortly after the Sun enters Aries or Libra).

The Magick Weapons (Aids in Evolution)

This speaks of the preparation and consecration of the Magick Weapons as aids in evolution

associated with the Work of the Childe of Malkuth through the Work of the Childe of Chesed.

The Adepti Signs (Including those of the Virgin Daughter)

This paper gives a description of the Magickal Signs of the Adepti, not included in any other

paper of the Sanctuary, including those of the Virgin Daughter who is evolving into a Childe of Binah.

Commentary is also provided giving insight into magickal formulate and the Initiation process. A

description of the Magickal Signs of the First Order may be found in the Scroll of the Pentagram ofthe First Order, under the section entitled Pentagram Formulae for the Dominis Liminis.

Spirits Journey into Manifestation

This tells a story from the Atu of Thoth, and sheds Light on the Oaths of Initiation given

below. Each of the Paths of the Tree of Life is addressed. Aspirants are encouraged to read this paper

early in the Initiation process. It will assist your Eye opening to the Glory of God.

The Face of Spirit (Given in the context of the Thelemic Pantheon)

This speaks of the Holy Trinity most exalted, and provides further insight into Spirit's Journeyinto Manifestation, and the True Nature of the Universe.

The Unveiling of Nuit(The Star Goddess)

This reveals Nuit as the One True God in the context of the Thelemic Pantheon, and the True

Hierophant of this New Aeon. In a post-script, it further reveals LA to be the True Key to the Book

of the Law.

The Blade & The Chalice (Revealed in the context of the Thelemic Pantheon)

This speaks of the Ancient Holy Symbols of the Blade and the Chalice, of Ydgrasil and of

Secret of the Holy Grail. These are commonly addressed in the teachings of the Sanctuary.

The Arrow (Most Holy, Showing the Way)

This speaks of the Holy Symbol of the Arrow and how its direction shows the Work of the

First, Second and Third Orders. It speaks of the right use and work with the Aires using the Enochian

Calls (or Angelic Keys) in the Sanctuarys System of Initiation. It further elaborates on the Work of

the Holy Third Order, and of the Most Exalted Work of a Childe of Nuit who has reached an end (so

to speak) to Initiation by entering into Not-Being.

The Sword & the Caduceus (The Evolution of the Childe)

This speaks of the Flaming Sword and the Caduceus, and how the latter replaces the former in

the Course of Initiation. It further expands upon the Guide to the Oaths of the Initiation, and the Workof the Childe of Binah, the Work of the Childe Chokmah, the Work of the Childe of Kether and the

Work of the Childe of Nuit Most Exalted.

The Return Journey (A Story from the Atu of Thoth on the Way of Return)

This paper tells a story from the Atu of Thoth of the initial Return Journey up the Tree of Life.

It is particularly important for those who are working with the Oaths of Initiation for the Paths, as the

work relating to each Atu is briefly addressed. This paper also gives a formula for emerging as a

Crowned Magickal Childe of Tiphareth at the end of the initial Path Work on the Yitziratic Tree of

Life. Ritual suggestions for Path workings are also given as an appendix to this paper.

An Account of the 30 Aires

This paper provides an Account of the 30 Aires. It discusses the Nature of the Aires, the

Sephirotic correspondences and right use of the 19 Enochian Angelic Keys to open the 48 Gates of

Understanding to the Cities of Wisdom. It further expands upon the Work of the Childe of Binah, the

Work of the Childe of Chokmah and the Work of the Childe of Kether, as well as the Work of the

Childe of Nuit Most Exalted (who has attained to the Qabalistic Zero), thus completing the initial

description of all aspects of the System of Initiation now offered through the Sanctuary.

Wearing the Crown (The Purpose of your Life)

This is the final paper (other than the Conclusion) included in this book. It speaks to important

questions, the meaning and purpose of your Holy Life, and of the great responsibility imposed upon an

Aspirant on the Royal Path of Initiation to humbly serve the Crown with a loving and devoted heart as

a Symbol of Truth and Justice in all that the Aspirant does. By so doing, the Glory and Power of the

Crown may be revealed to the Aspirant, as the Aspirant evolves to act by and for the Crown to the

Glory of God. Amen.

This offers some closing words, and a Prayer to Nuit which you are encouraged to regularly use

in your Holy Work.

Papers have been included as appendices providing a Qabalistic analysis of the Auguries

received during certain Equinox Rituals performed at the Sanctuary of Thoth on behalf of all of the

Children of Nuit. You are encouraged you to review these papers for the information contained in

them regarding various magickal formulae and the Initiation process.

A NOTE ON ADDITIONAL COMMENTARY

The original papers referenced above have been reproduced in this book for historical purposes.

However, additional commentary has been added, where appropriate, by ACh LA as guided to provide

additional information. Text which is Additional Commentary will be noted as such.

INSIGHT INTO THE PAPERS

All of the papers included in this book speak directly to certain magickal formulae. All are

important for certain reasons. They disclose something to guide, and plant holy seeds which will

grow and unfold as the Childes Initiation progresses. Therefore, in reviewing these papers, the

aspirant is guided to extract and apply the magickal formula which is directly relevant to the task at

hand. The more focused you are on performing and accomplishing a particular task to properly take a

step on the Royal Path of Initiation, which is the Way of Return, the more likely the work will

progress in the most beneficial, powerful, correct and efficient way.

No step on the Royal Path may be skipped. Each step must be taken with care. The HolyWork must not be left undone! Amen.

ABOUT THE

THE SANCTUARY OF THOTH

The Sanctuary of Thoth is a Portal of Initiation into the Great Order of the Universe, where

Magick lives not in faith but in certainty! We practice the Hermetic sciences, and assist others in

learning the Royal Art and Science of Magick to perform and accomplish their Great Work.

Why Thoth? Our response is who else is more appropriate given our goals. Thoth, Hermes or

Mercury is the winged and vital intelligence of the Gods. He is the Fool, the Magus and the Hermit.

He is the Wisdom of the Creator, the Logos or the Word. Being Divine thought itself, he transcends all

bounds of time and space. He is also the Master of Magick, and the patron of all those who seek to

develop and ascend magickally and spiritually.

We cherish and adore the Great Goddess Nuit, as the One True God and the True Hierophant of

this New Aeon. There is No-God, No-One, No-Thing but Her. All are Gods are aspects of Her, our

Beloved Lady of the Stars. We are Her Children. The Sanctuary assists in the evolution and healing

of Her Children.

So much information is available to us. We attempt to sift through this information at the

Sanctuary of Thoth, and work with the true "keys" to understanding Magick and Initiation. Our

practices are Thelemic, Enochian, Solomonic and Wiccan. We also recommend tantrik yoga practices,

as well as the teachings of such illuminated texts as the I-Ching, the Tao-Te Ching, the Bhagavad Gita

and the Upanishads (among others).

We work with many Systems of Initiation concentrated into one. Here is where the hard work

begins. To even begin to develop magickally or spiritually, an aspirant must go through a purification

process. This is easier said than done. (We speak from experience!) For how can you command

anything if you are not in control of yourself? So much can be learned if we just stop and listen.Therein is great Mystery! Learning basic meditative practices is a must. If we combine these skills

with the ritual practices of the Sanctuary, they help provide a practical and balanced System of

Initiation.

The practice of Magick inherently requires a deep understanding of Astrology (not for purposes

of divination, but to understand the energies available to work with in our rites). Understanding

Astrology is also necessary to truly understand Tarot. The teachings of the Tarot, or the Book of

Thoth, are yet another true "key" which we work with at the Sanctuary of Thoth (not for purposes of

divination, but as a part of the System of Initiation we offer).

The Sanctuary of Thoth is located near Albany, New York, and offers ceremonial initiationsand other services to serious aspirants of the Great Work. Members of the Sanctuary of Thoth are not

required to contribute membership dues or donations, and there are no charges for initiations or for any

other services offered by the Sanctuary. Membership in the Sanctuary is entirely free.

ACh LA ("ACh"means Brother) is part of a magickal lineage from Aleister Crowley. The

Sanctuary of Thoth was originally established under the Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn (Order of

the T..G..D..), which our Brother served as Hierophant for several years. The Sanctuary continues

to evolve as an independent Portal of Initiation into the Great Order of the Universe, in furtherance of

the Great Work of Thelema.

Our Brother was also a Priest of the Coven of Akhelarre in Salem, Massachusetts, which trainsand initiates Priests and Priestesses in the Alexandrian/Gardnerian/Celtic and hereditary lineages of

British Traditional Witchcraft. Azaradel and Lady Zara are the High Priest and High Priestess of the

Coven of Akhelarre. Our Brother and his wife were legally hand-fasted by Lady Zara and Azaradel on

the evening of the New Moon on February 20, 2004 e.v.

Our Brother lives just outside of Albany, New York with his wife and three beautiful children.

He is a lawyer by profession.

SANCTUARY MEMBERSHIP

The Sanctuary of Thoth is accepting membership applications. A Childe who is 18 years of

of Initiation (using the Sanctuary's System of Initiation or any other System of Initiation), please

describe your progress in relation to the Oath. Please also explain in your email why you are applying

for membership.

Applications will be accepted as so moved by the Goddess. If your application is accepted, youwill be contacted in all due course. If you have applied for membership and have not received a

response after a Solar Cycle or two (it takes time to process applications), you are encouraged to

reapply after waiting for a period.

Ceremonial initiation will be offered to sincere aspirants of the Great Work. If you are

AN END TO SUFFERING(Insights from Buddhism)

Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

May there be an end to suffering for all the Children of Earth. The Way is being shown. This

is through the teachings of the Sanctuary. It is also shown by Yoga Science, and other Systems of

Initiation which are complete to bring the Childe to the Supreme realization that each one of us is aSpiritual Being living a human life (and not vice versa). Although suffering is a fact of human life,

suffering ceases to exist on the Higher Planes. By attaining to the Higher Planes and exalting your

consciousness, you may bring an end to suffering in your life as you know it, break the cycle of

reincarnation (so to speak) and recognize the True Nature of your Being.

The teachings of Buddhism may be briefly summarized to assist in recognizing the nature of

suffering. To begin, suffering appears in two forms, as attractions or repulsions. Suffering is caused

by desire to move towards things which attract and away from things which repulse. By seeing the

cause of suffering, placing desire in proper perspective and tempering our actions according, we can

bring an end to suffering as merely humans. This is done by the destruction of ignorance and the

acquisition of right views in Buddhist terminology. This same work is accomplished through theSanctuarys System of Initiation, in the course of Initiation into the Sephiroth and the Paths, which also

involves the awakening of the Chakras.

The Buddhists say, in simplest terms, that mental training is required to attain right views.

Right views arise from realizing that (1) there is an impermanence of all physical and other aggregates

(the animal is doomed to death), (2) suffering is inhere nt in all aggregates (they dissolve) and (3)

there is an absence of ego in all aggregates. We discover the nature of our suffering, the causes of

suffering, and the way to end suffering by perfect attention and meditation. This is the Nature of the

Workencouraged through the Sanctuarys System of Initiation. How you attend to the details, whether

by using the Sanctuarys System of Initiation or some other, is an issue between you and God.

The Sanctuarys System of Initiation teaches first how to take control of your physical senses,

which correspond with lower expressions of the elements of Fire, Water, Air and Earth. The

Pentagram teaches that these are presided over by Spirit. The formula of the Pentagram must be

completed at each Step on the Royal Path of Initiation, so the elements of the Childe are consecrated to

that Step and prepared for the next Step.

The Sanctuarys System of Initiation also teaches how to consecrate your self to the Divinity

within at each Step along the Royal Way. This is done initially using the Yitziratic Hexagram. In the

course of this work, you will come to realize the Nature of your True Self and discover your True Will.

When you discover your True Self and your True Will, which is an aspect of the Work of the

Childe of Tiphareth, you will discover the absence of an ego in all aggregates. However, thisrealization is not perfectly assimilated at this Stage of Evolution. The Work of the Second Order is, in

effect, a ripening and perfecting of Adepthood, to produce the Virgin Daughter, which is then

redeemed and set upon the Throne of the Great Mother in Binah. When this occurs, the Virgin

Daughter Becomes the Mother as explained in other papers issued by the Sanctuary.

Pain and suffering occur at the junction of Briah and Yitzirah. As a result, as the Virgin

Daughter is redeemed and enters Briah, all Sorrow is seen as Pure Joy. Perspective from the Higher

Plane of Briah is attained. The Childe perceives Heaven on Earth, and human suffering is placed in

proper perspective and seen for what it is. This is not to say that the Childe no longer suffers the same

pain of aging or injury just like any other human. However, the purpose for it is seen and beheld as

necessary in the Great Work.

Even a Childe of Binah is still on the Way of Return. The Childe has not completed the Return

Journey up the Tree of Life. There are still transformations which must occur. The Childe must

traverse the Path of Daleth to attain to Chokmah, and the Path of Gimel to attain to Kether (the Paths

of Aleph and Beth are always expressive and lead away from Kether they are not part of the Way of

Return in these exalted stages of Initiation). Further, even the Childe of Kether, who has ceased

Becoming and entered into Being, still must attain unto Nuit in the Ultimate Initiation and enter into

Not-Being.

In the course of this Work, we behold the Nature of All things (attain right views ), and find

purpose and meaning to our lives in all that we do. Ultimately, our Work is to be refined and honed

into a Pure and Perfect Vessel for the Spiritual Being inhabiting us to Work without any obstruction.

The human being is Silenced, and only the Spiritual Being abides and moves. Thus does the Vessel

attain Perfect Transparency for the Light of Love of the Chalice to Shine through.

The Highest of Initiations may be attained by All, without exception. Let no one say otherwise.

It is time for man to make further progress in this regard. Most established religions have stopped

short of what is necessary to bring their devotees to the Supreme realization and True Goal of man.

The Sanctuarys System of Initiation systematically takes you through every step to bring you there.

Put an end to your suffering. Reverse the Curse which has been placed upon you arising from

the Fall of Man. You can do it! However, your effort is required. Only you can do your Work. Take

action to heal yourself and allow your-self to be Healed. It is never too late. Every breath is an

opportunity. Use each breath wisely and well, and may you experience Heaven on Earth, and truly

behold the Glory of God. Amen.

THE FORMULAE OF THE SPHERE(The Magick Circle)

The teachings of the Sanctuary focus on (among many other things) the formulae of your

Sphere. Certain formulae must be learned and used by the newcomer to the practice of magick and

others are used by the most evolved practitioners. We see a discussion of magickal formulaebeginning in the Scroll of the Ritual of the Stars, which gives instruction to the newcomer who is

beginning the Journey on the Royal Road of Initiation, through The Daily Conjurations that provides

instruction of a most exalted nature.

Your Sphere is akin to a Ball of Light which completely surrounds you. It forms your True

Magick Circle, but is all encompassing. In the many books on magick handed down throughout the

ages, we see a discussion of the magick circle and how it should be organized for particular types of

workings or experiments. The organization proposed is addressing the formulae of the circle, which is

a proxy for your Sphere. Consider then the formulae being offered in each case, extrapolate it and

contemplate how to work with the formulae to attain certain results.

Certain basics must be learned by the newcomer to bring right organization to your Sphere.

This will assist in exalting your consciousness to higher magickal planes. The various magickal planes

have their own specific laws and formulae. These must be learned and used to experience the

corresponding energies and learn about the corresponding mysteries.

To be skeptical is healthy. The practice of the Royal Art and Science of Magick is the practice

of the hermetic sciences. The practitioner engages in workings or experiments to learn and evolve

magickally and spiritually. You begin by visualizing your Sphere, which is always around you. You

then learn of the nature and powers of your Sphere through the various magickal formulae.

You are a beautiful Star Childe. You are encouraged to experiment with the various formulaegiven in the other papers of the Sanctuary, with the various Pentagrams and Hexagrams, and with the

various rituals, meditations and other visualizations, and draw your own conclusions. We learn most

fully through our own direct experiences.

THE PURIFICATION & CONSECRATION OF THE SPHERE(Suggestions for the Newcomer)

With the Creative Imagination and the Creative Will, we comprehend the Sphere. It is through

the combination of the Creative Will and the Creative Imagination, under the Guide of the Holy One,

that we practice True Magick.

Once you visualize the Sphere, the next practice to learn is how to purify and consecrate your

Sphere (and all within). These practices are of the utmost importance.

We purify with Water and consecrate with Fire.

Without overly complicating what can be simple, prepare an altar in the center of the place you

will be working. The altar should face east, so you will need to determine which directions are due

east, south, west and north based on the location of your altar. The altar can be a small piece of black

or white cloth which you place on the ground, or can be a small table (covered with a cloth or not).

Your altar will evolve over time, but this will more than suffice at the inception of your magickalpractice.

Place on your altar a white candle of any size, a small cup of water and a stick incense of your

choosing (with an appropriate holder for the incense). Light the candle and visualize your Sphere

around you.

To purify your Sphere, take up the cup of water, and breathe on the water. The breathing on

the water is a magickal act, placing it in action for the Holy Work to be performed. Now move to the

eastern perimeter of your Sphere, trace a cross in the air with the cup, dip a few fingers in the water

and sprinkle the water three times in the center of the cross. Proceed to move around the perimeter of

your Sphere to the south still holding the cup of water, trace a cross again in the air and sprinkle somewater three times in the center of the cross. Continue to move around the perimeter of your circle to

the west, doing the same thing, and then to the north also doing the same thing. Now continue around

the perimeter of your Sphere back to the east to close the circle. Move to the center of your Sphere

behind your altar which is facing east (so you are also facing east). Dip your thumb in the water and

trace a small cross with your wet thumb on the center of your forehead so the bottom bar of the cross

extends down between your eye brows. Hold the cup of water upon high with both hands and say:

I purify with the Holy Water.

When you say this, visualize a blue light swirling about your entire Sphere. When done, place

the cup of water back down on your altar.

To consecrate your Sphere, take up the incense stick and rub your fingers up and down the sticka few times feeling energy flow into the incense from the friction. This rubbing is also a magickal act

to place the incense in action for the Holy Work to be performed. Light the incense from the candle on

your altar. Now move to the eastern perimeter of your Sphere, trace a cross in the air with the incense

stick and wave the incense stick three times through the center of the Cross. Proceed to move around

the perimeter of your Sphere to the south still holding the incense stick, trace a cross again in the air

and wave the incense stick three times through center of the cross. Continue to move around the

perimeter of your circle to the west, doing the same thing, and then to the north also doing the same

thing. Now continue around the perimeter of your Sphere back to the east to close the circle. Move to

the center of your Sphere behind your altar so you are also facing east. Trace a small cross with the

incense stick before your forehead so the bottom bar of the cross extends down between your eye

brows. Hold the incense stick upon high with both hands and say:

I consecrate with the Holy Fire.

When you say this, visualize a red light swirling about your entire Sphere. When this is done,

place the incense back in its holder on your altar.

Now take some time to meditate in the center of your Sphere on the magickal acts you just

performed, the reason for the acts and on the nature and powers of your Sphere.

The purification and consecration of your Sphere may also be performed without any physical

candle, water or incense, by simply visualizing these things and yourself performing the acts.

When you are done with your working, simply take a deep cleansing breath while standing in

the center of your Sphere (facing east) with the intention of concluding the working, and proceed on

with whatever you are to do.

These practices will evolve as you and your magickal practice evolves. They are further

THE SCROLL OF THE RITUAL OF THE STARS

The Ritual of the Stars, combined with the Oaths of Initiation, form the basis of the System of

Initiation offered through the Sanctuary of Thoth. The Ritual of the Stars is an evolution and

simplification of rituals given in the past. It is a Ritual of Initiation each time it is used, and forms the

basis of all our initiatory work, magickal and mystickal, through the Sanctuary of Thoth.

The Ritual of the Stars and the Oaths of Initiation are designed to work in tandem to assist the

aspirant in being initiated into the mysteries, and equilibrating the energies, symbolically represented

by the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Each step on the Royal Path of Initiation must be taken with care. The

more time you spend on a step represented by an Oath, the more you will become acclimated to the

nature and powers described in the Oath. This assists in healthy, balanced initiation, which is the goal.

As the aspirant climbs the Tree of Life in the initiation process, the aspirants Sphere becomes

more finely attuned to the nature and powers represented by the Tree of Life, both above and below the

aspirants position on the Tree. Perspective changes with each step. This produces an unfolding of the

Ritual, as your awareness of your Sphere, and its nature and powers, evolves.

The Ritual of the Stars provides guidance on how to formulate your Sphere to gain access to

the mysteries, and equilibrate the energies, which are the focus of your Work. The Ritual does not have

to be performed physically. It may be performed mentally, by formulating your Sphere as described

by the Ritual. However, it is recommended that you perform the Ritual physically from time to time, if

you have an appetite for ceremonial magick (though this is not required).

Our goal in delivering this System of Initiation is to reach and initiate more people than have

been reached thus far by existing magickal orders and traditional religions. There is no human who

would not benefit from attaining the Knowledge and Conversation of their Holy Guardian Angel. The

System of Initiation being offered sets this as the initial goal the work, which is the aspirants Great

Work. During the initiation process, the aspirant evolves as a source of Light and Love to others,

which inspires and assists others in their Great Work, whether verbally discussed with them or not. It

also assists in the magickal, spiritual and material evolution of the human race, as the aspirant and

those around evolve in the Light. May you undertake this Great Work!

The first step is simply to declare you intent by taking the first Oath of the Childe of Earth. Allthe rest will follow from there.

If you have been initiated into another system which uses the Tree of Life as the basis of

initiation, you may use the System of Initiation offered through the Sanctuary of Thoth to simply pick-

up where you left off. There is no reason to start from the beginning or go back unless you feel it

would be healthy or otherwise beneficial to do so. We welcome you as you are and encourage you to

undertake initiation using the System we offer.

The Initiation Process

The initiation process may be explained in few words.

The first task is to gain control over the lower human aspects of the aspirant (sometimes calledthe Nephesch or the animal soul), and place them, as an initiated king of the human body, in service of

the Mind (also known as the Ruach). As these aspects of the aspirant are purified and consecrated to

the Great Work, the nature and powers of the Holy Guardian Angel may be revealed to the aspirant.

Once the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel is attained, the Mind

(Ruach) is further developed and purified, as the lower human aspects of the aspirant are stripped away

and lustrated to produce the Virgin Daughter. This is the second defined goal of our System of

Initiation. As the Virgin Daughter evolves, the aspirant moves from the Path of Pleasure (which most

humans walk) to the Path of Divine Joy, and attains liberation from the human condition.

From here, there is Mystery. The goal is for the Virgin Daughter to be redeemed according tothe formula of the Tetragrammaton, and attain union with the Universal Soul (also known as the

Neschamah or Great Mother). The work of the Most High proceeds from there.

[Additional Commentary: Other papers issued by the Sanctuary included in this book address

the Work of the Childe of Binah, Chokmah, Kether and Nuit Most Exalted.]

May the Light and Love of the Divine illumine us, and be our inspiration and guide in this

Great Work, as we seek to rise from the human to the Divine and become something more than human.

Magickal Intent or Will

With due acknowledgement of the initiation process, the focus now turns to the aspirants

position on the Tree of Life. The success of your work will largely depend on how well you apprehend

your position on the Tree of Life, and formulate work to further the initiation process. The Oaths are

designed to help you do this. Before performing the Ritual of the Stars, it is recommended that you

focus on the aspect of the Great Work which is under current contemplation and study (in accord with

your position on the Tree of Life), and formulate any questions you have. This will assist you in

formulating your intent as to purpose of the working and asserting your Will accordingly. From there,

the formula of the Ritual of the Stars (as well as the work) should unfold. The Ritual of the Stars

should be used to formulate your Sphere in a way which is in correspondence with your Great Work as

precisely as possible. Focusing rightly will further your work.

Invoke, Equilibrate, Evolve

If you formulate your Sphere in a way which is in correspondence with your Great Work, you

will invoke according to the formula of your Sphere. This provides access to corresponding

mysteries and energies. Before proceeding to the Ritual of the Stars itself, consider first the

arrangement of your place of working (your Holy Temple), the colors, the incense and anything which

you can see, like magickal implements, pictures, etc. Try to place in your Minds Eye only those

things which are in correspondence with the nature of your working, so the current of thought flows

harmoniously in the direction you Will.

Once you invoke, you equilibrate the energy. This is done by balancing the energy within and

throughout your Sphere in all directions. Breathing and visualization techniques are typically

employed to do this. In the simplest form, you rhythmically inhale and exhale the energy, using themethods you have learned, to accomplish this important phase of the work.

The process of equilibration assists you in experiencing the energies you are invoking, and

forming a connection with them, in a healthy, balanced way.

You evolve by integrating the equilibrated energies into your Sphere and being initiated into

the corresponding mysteries.

Thus, we invoke, equilibrate and evolve. This is the basic formula of initiation into the Great

Order of the Universe. The Ritual of the Stars is a tool given to assist in this Great Work.

The Formula of Ritual of the Stars

Steps:

1. Embody the Qabalistic Tree of Life. [Additional commentary: This Step no longer

applies after the Childe attains to Binah.]

2. Step into the Light. (This may happen rather naturally as a result of Step 1.)

3. Formulate (and step onto) the Magickal Plane of the working.

4. Project corresponding Stars (and/or other Symbols).

5. Utter corresponding Holy Names. (This may be combined with Step 4.)

6. Equilibrate.

7. Perform any other corresponding work.

8. Return, drawing all to a luminous point within, and releasing.

The process of performing the Ritual may take time or happen in a flash. It may be performed

physically or mentally with equal success. It may be performed or occur any place and any time.

We now consider each Step in the Ritual.

Step 1. Embody the Qabalistic Tree of Life

This may be done simply by visualizing the Tree of Life in your Minds Eye, initially with the

White Pillar of Mercy on your left side and the Black Pillar of Severity on your right side. This

visualization will unfold (meaning develop) as the aspirants initiation progresses.

Traditional ceremonial methods to embody the Tree of Life would include the Qabalistic Cross,

the Middle Pillar Exercise and other variations on the theme. Consider the formula of these rites, and

the Holy Names uttered during them, to aid your work.

Embodying the Tree of Life also assists you in realizing the Divinity which resides within and

animates you. Your Sphere is a Microcosm or Little World, which is unique, yet an indivisible part of

the whole, which is called the Macrocosm or Great World. You are a Star, not symbolically but

actually, shining in the Womb of the Goddess. Contemplating these matters may assist you in

accomplishing Step 1.

Step 2. Step into the Light

Bring the Light down from over your head to illumine the embodied Tree of Life. Visualize

this in your Minds Eye as best you can. As you do this, formulate your Sphere as a clear, luminous

ball of Light surrounding you, glistening with the Light emanating from and about you. As indicated

above, this may happen rather naturally as you embody the Tree of Life.

This is an important step, when you plug in or turn your Minds Eye to connect to the

Divine Light. It is there, you just need to look for and find it. Let the Light and Love of God (first

perceived as your Holy Guardian Angel) shine through you!

More visualization techniques to assist in performing this Step in the Ritual are offered below.

Step 3. Formulate (and step onto) the Magickal Plane of the Working.

For the Childe of Earth, the Sphere is organized solely on an elemental basis using either the

Traditional/Four Winds formula or the Thelemic formula. There is no requirement to adhere to any

one formula. To the contrary, it is recommended that you gain experience with both formula.

The Traditional/Four Winds formula assigns the elements to the cardinal directions as follows:

East AirSouth Fire

West Water

North Earth

Center Spirit

When using the Traditional/Four Winds formula, the movement is generally deasil or deosil

(meaning clockwise).

The Thelemic formula assigns the elements to the cardinal directions as follows:

East Earth

North Air

West Water

South Fire

Center Spirit

When using the Thelemic formula, the movement is generally widdershins (meaning counter-

clockwise).

The elements are assigned to their cardinal directions corresponding to the formula being used

by projecting them to their assigned direction. This may be done without any movement other than inyour Mind. Each element may be addressed in turn, or all at once.

An aspirant who completes the work of the Childe of Earth and becomes a Childe of Malkuth

seeks to rise from the Earth into the Heavens, and particularly into the Lower Astral Plane. This is

assisted by formulating the following within your Sphere depending on the formula employed:

When using the Traditional/Four Winds formula, you formulate the lower half of the Yitziratic

Hexagram (forming a Cross) on the floor your Sphere, so the Sephiroth are arranged about your Sphere

according to the following formula:

East TipharethSouth Netzach

West Yesod

North Hod

In the center of your Sphere, you will thus be standing on the cross-sections of the Paths of

Samekh and Peh on the Qabalistic Tree of Life.

When using the Thelemic formula, you formulate the Sephiroth about your Sphere according to

the following formula:

In the center of your Sphere using the Thelemic formula, you will be assuming the position of

the Sun.These formulae are used until the aspirant receives initiation into the four lower Sephiroth and

the corresponding elemental formulae, and completes the work of the Dominis Liminis.

After the aspirant takes the Oath of the Childe of Tiphareth, things change. The aspirant must

now reformulate the Pentagram under the presidency of the Name (YHVH). The Zodiacal belt is

formulated about the Sphere, with the Zodiacal Sign of Aries in the east. The four Pillars formed by

the Microcosmic and Macrocosmic Trees of Life, which square the aspirants Sphere, take on new

meaning (they form the Mark of the Beast showing the Unity which exists within the Sphere). Further,

the aspirant must now formulate the entire Yitziratic Hexagram on the floor of aspirants Sphere and

rise to the true position of the Sun, in the center of the Hexagram. This work is assisted by the

completion of the aspirants initial journey first up and then down the Paths on the Yitziratic Tree of

Life, using the Oaths of Initiation for the Paths offered through the Sanctuary. [Additional

Commentary: See the papers entitled The Return Journey and Spirits Journey into Manifestation

in this regard.] This will assist in assigning the Planetary attributions (and corresponding forces from

this perspective in the initiation process) to the Yitziratic Hexagram being developed at this stage ofevolution. In addition, to properly formulate the Yitziratic Hexagram within the Sphere, the aspirant

must now work with the Alchemical Principles of Sulphur, Salt and Mercury, to formulate (from this

perspective) the Ascending Blue Triangle of Nuit and the Descending Red Triangle of Ra-Hoor-Khuit.

The Ascending Blue Triangle of Nuit is formulated first by facing east in the center of your Sphere and

assigning Alchemical Mercury to the eastern center point, Alchemical Salt to the point of the Triangle

behind your right hand and Alchemical Sulphur to the point of the Triangle behind your left hand.

(Invoking Thoth at the place of Alchemical Mercury, Isis or Demeter at the place of Alchemical Salt

and Hoor-Apep at the place of Alchemical Sulphur will assist this work.) The Red Descending

Triangle of Ra-Hoor-Khuit formulates naturally as a result of the work with the Ascending Blue

Triangle.

The Ritual of the Stars may be used as a basis for initiation into all aspects of your Sphere as

described above, by invoking, equilibrating and evolving as previously described. A Table of Stars

and Symbols is appended to this Scroll to assist your use of the Ritual in the initiation process. In the

course, may you attain the Knowledge and Conversation of your Holy Guardian Angel, and may the

Virgin Daughter evolve within.

After you attain the Knowledge and Conversation of your Holy Guardian Angel, which you

will have worked so hard to do, your next ordeal will be listening to what your Angel has to say, and

conforming your actions to your Angels voice. This is easier said than done, at least initially. You

may not always hear what you think you want to hear. The Chosen Way is, however, always

Righteous. Study the Oaths of Initiation related to the Sephiroth to see the progression. It will help,

yet the true meanings of the Oaths will unfold only as you experience the initiation process.

Once the aspirant has attained the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel

and has been duly initiated into Tiphareth as a Childe of Tiphareth, something happens. Access to the

Upper Astral Plane, also known as the Solar Plane, is granted. This is by the Hand of God. There is

no forced entry. You cannot push your way in. Access is earned by being humble and performing the

Great Work with reverence and devotion, and evolving rightly. After this occurs, the aspirant may

proceed to take the Oath of the Childe of Geburah when the Angel confers authority to do so.

We now turn to the schemata of your Sphere on the Solar Plane, which has its own laws and

formulae. What we offer here is what has been received for instruction through the Sanctuary of

Thoth. Others may use other formula, which we are not commenting on by this Scroll or otherwise.

What we offer and use follows.

Your Sphere is formulated on the Solar Plane according to the following elemental formula:

The Zodiacal belt (or dial) turns so that Regulus (0 Leo) is in the East. Further, on the floor of

the Temple is formulated the Heavenly Hexagram, which is partly Briatic and partly Yitziratic. Facing

West, the attributions are as follows:

Standing in the center of the now Red Ascending Triangle - the center point before you

corresponds to Kether and Jupiter, the point behind your right hand corresponds to Chesed and

Venus, and the point behind your left hand corresponds to Geburah and Mars.

Standing in the center of the now Blue Descending Triangle - the point before you to the right

corresponds to Chokmah and Mercury, the point before you to the left corresponds with Binahand the Moon, and the center point behind you corresponds to Tiphareth and the Sun.

Thus, we see why Regulus (attributed to Leo, ruled by the Sun) is in the East, in the place of

the Rising Sun. Further, we can see why the plane has changed for the aspirant, who is now an initiate

of Tiphareth, has assumed the position of the Sun and has placed the lower aspects of the Tree of Life

behind. This is the evolutionary process in action. The Childe evolves from this new perspective.

The Upper Astral/Solar Plane will generally be the focus of an aspirants work through

initiation as a Childe of Chesed, as the aspirant works to lustrate the lower aspects and perfect the

lower powers and skills, to produce the Virgin Daughter.

A great deal can be gleaned by studying how the floor of an upper plane may create the

ceiling of a lower plane. Further, consider that there are yet higher planes, that the symbol of the

Supernals (i.e., Kether, Chokmah and Binah) is the Triangle, and that, on the Supernal Triangle, the

Alchemical Principles would be arranged so that Alchemical Mercury corresponds to Kether,

Alchemical Sulphur corresponds to Chokmah and Alchemical Salt corresponds to Binah. Seek the

apex of each plane, and to rise to ever more exalted heights, in and through your work.

Regardless of whether you are inclined towards ceremonial magick, we recommend that you

draw your Sphere on the magickal plane which is the focus of your work, with all its correspondences.

This will assist you in formulating your Sphere in accord with the nature and laws of the plane.

Step 4. Project corresponding Stars and/or other Symbols.

Projections are performed by formulating your intent and asserting your Will. A wand (which

is a symbol of directed Will), or any other appropriate magickal implement (including your fingers in

the Sign of Benediction), may be used as an aid to assert your Will. The Star or Symbol being

projected should correspond with the aspect of your Sphere which is being formulated.

The Pentagram generally corresponds to the elements, and Geburah. [Additional Commentary:The Pentagram also corresponds with Chokmah, and is a Symbol of the manifest Powers of the All-Father.]

When working with an element, the Pentagram may be charged with white-blue spiritual energy, or the

energy of the element. The aspirant will naturally have access to the elemental energies as the aspirant

becomes initiated into the elements. When the Pentagram is charged with the ruby red fire of Geburah,

it is more commonly known as the Star Ruby.

The traditional Hexagram (Star of David) generally corresponds with the Planets and the

Zodiacal Signs (and the corresponding Paths) on the Yitziratic Tree of Life. When working with a

force or energy symbolized by the Hexagram, the Hexagram should be charged with the energy of the

force, in its corresponding colors. (More instruction is given in this regard below.)

The Holy Hexagram has special correspondence with the Elements, and Chesed. When

charged with the sapphire or purple-bluish fire of Chesed, it is more commonly known as the Star

Sapphire.

When working with the Alchemical Principles, their symbols should be formulated.

Other symbols may also be projected to assist the work. For example, consider using numbers,

letters, tattwas symbols, the Atu of Thoth, other Tarot cards, sigils, etc. We invoke through

correspondences. Will flows as directed, like an arrow unloosed in flight.

During this Step in the Ritual, your Sphere may be projected from the existing magickal plane

to another plane (elemental or general) or the sphere of a particular Sephira. This may be done by

reformulating the Sphere on the new plane according to its formula (by making the proper projections),

or creating a portal (using an appropriate symbol) and projecting the Sphere through the portal which

will cause the Sphere to unformulate and reformulate according to the laws of the new plane.

When projecting your Sphere to the sphere of a particular Sephira, your Sphere will operate on

the Tree of Life within the sphere of that Sephira.

Initiation involves experiencing, integrating and reintegrating all of the forces which are in

operation within your Sphere. These change with every step taken on the Royal Path of Initiation, as

your position on the Tree of Life changes. Therefore, there is a continual need to work with and

reintegrate energies which were the subject of prior work from the new and evolving perspective.

Step 5. Utter corresponding Holy Names.

Uttering Holy Names is a call for Divine aid. You call aspects of the Holy One for assistance

in the work, and to command the forces which are in your Minds Eye. You get in contact with these

forces through their names and correspondences. By properly formulating your Sphere, and

addressing them rightly, you naturally make contact with them. You then work with them to gain

experience, become initiated into their mysteries and evolve.

We are all being initiated into the Great Order of the Universe. Call it what you may. Names

are but labels. When you transcend the labels, we are all doing the same work and praying to the same

thing. Your gods have their names. Use them. However, it is important to find the names that

correspond with the aspects of your Sphere which are the focus of your work. The investigation

process assists in making contact.

It is unnecessary to utter Holy Names during the projection/formulation phase. However, you

may find that this is natural and assists the process.

Once you have formulated your Sphere, and reached this Step in the Ritual, you will likely call

to or speak with the Divine (aloud or by raising your consciousness in silent speech) to state the

purpose of the working, and ask any questions, as clearly and succinctly as possible. You might also

perform invocations and/or assume God-forms to further the working and your experience.

Steps may be repeated as necessary to strengthen or reinforce the work. Remember, however,

to always be humble, that you are a Childe of God and that true Magick is natural and performed by

the Will of God. As you align your human aspects with the Divine, the Light and Love of the Divine

will flow through you, as if you were a transparent vessel and fountain for the Supernal Influx. This is

how you become as a source of Light and Love to others and the Universe. You work by Gods Will.

Step 6. Equilibrate.

This is a wonderful phase where experience is gained if the Ritual has proceeded rightly. To

equilibrate, you must simply try to do so. Balance your Sphere in all directions according to the

formula being used. Use breathing and visualization techniques as you know how. Stand in the Sign

of the Cross. Pace your Sphere to circulate the energies. Form the Talismatic Atom. Pore breathe.

All (or any one) of these techniques (and many others) can help. Your abilities to equilibrate will

improve through dedicated effort and practice.

It is at this stage that you integrate the energies invoked within your Sphere. It is at this stage

when information may be received to assist your initiation into corresponding mysteries. (Information

may, however, be received at any time, particularly following invocations.)

The assertion of Will in prior Steps will cause responses. Care must be taken to maintain the

formula of your Sphere during the working. This is critical to the success of the working. The Eye

must stay focused on the work and the Light. Otherwise, let your mind be calm and peaceful, and

observe the responses. Follow the current of thought created by the invocations, carefully noting what

is being received. Sit or stand. Meditate if appropriate. The goal is to gain experience and integrate

on a balanced basis.

Step 7. Perform any other corresponding work.

When you are ready, proceed to Step 7 and perform any other corresponding work.

If a material item is being prepared (such as a magickal tool, talisman, piece of jewelry, or

whatever it may be), consider charging it relatively soon after the invocations and the Sphere is

equilibrated (without any meditative or other break in between). In all other cases, it is generally

recommended that the aspirant charge and take a Eucharist.

A Eucharist is charged with the energies invoked in the Sphere. It is designed to assist the

aspirant in integrating the energies, and furthering the Childes initiation into the corresponding

mysteries. It also assists the process of closing the working, by directing the energies invoked within

the Sphere into the Eucharist and absorbing them when consuming the Eucharist.

The Eucharist should be of a substance which is in correspondence with the working. In manycases, a small piece of bread or a cup of water will suffice. Thelemites may use Cakes of Light.

The Eucharist also serves as a libation. In charging the Eucharist, give thanks, adore your god

and bless the Names and forces invoked. Be humble and adoring, with a reverent and devoted heart.

Step 8. Return, drawing all to a luminous point within, and releasing.

This last Step is very important, and should conclude every working, without exception. It

helps keep things healthy. However, there is no need to become anxious if you forget. Just perform

this last Step whenever you remember, no matter where you are.

Simply absorb all energies invoked (and portals created) during the working with a long deep

inhale, drawing all to a luminous point within your body, visualized at the location of Tiphareth (in the

place of the Sun at or around the Solar Plexus) on the embodied Tree of Life. Hold itLet the Light

shine! Then, release the point with an exhale, allowing the Light to rush out and expand into the

Universe, while your Sphere and consciousness return to normal operating conditions here on Eart h.

For those of you familiar with certain Magickal Signing, the Sign of Silence (also known as the

Sign of Hoor-Pa-Kraat or Harpocrates) would be appropriate to perform at this last Step of the Ritual.

Examples of How to Perform the Ritual

Examples of how to perform the Ritual are given below. No one method is preferred over the

other. It will be each aspirants task to experiment and find the methods which suit the aspirant best

for the type of work to be performed. This is how you learn the Royal Art and Science of Magick.

We, of course, are here to assist. Other papers have been issued which provide instruction relative to

each Oath of Initiation.

The most important thing about performing the Ritual is organizing your Sphere according to a

formula which corresponds with your work. How you do this is for you to decide.

Beginning. At first, you take all this in as a Childe of Earth, and begin using the formula of the

Ritual as best you can. Then, each aspect of your Sphere is addressed in turn through the progression

of the Oaths of Initiation, which are designed to bring you to the Knowledge and Conversation of your

Holy Guardian Angel and assist in the production of the Virgin Daughter all along the way. We attain

through the practical experience we gain in our work. Note that the Virgin Daughter is produced from

the Childe of Earth. Therefore, aspire to rise from the human to the Divine. Strive to do so. Step into

and work in the Light. Let the Light be your guide. Know that you can attain, and that the Universe

supports you in doing so.

Drawing the Ritual. As suggested above, the Ritual does not have to be performed physically.

It can be performed mentally with equal success. However, care must be taken to focus your mind and

assert your Will to accomplish each Step in the Ritual. To help you do this, consider drawing how your

Sphere will be organized during your working. Draw your Sphere as a Magick Circle, and place the

cardinal points about it. Assign the elements to the quarters according to the formula employed.

Identify the location of the Sephiroth represented on the floor of your Sphere. (Consider the ceiling,which is something to rise through when Rising on the Planes.) Use corresponding colored inks if

possible. The drawing will assist you in completing the formula of your Sphere for your working, and

reinforcing or reaffirming it during your working by simply looking at it.

Using your Minds Eye. We work on the interior of the Universe. For this reason, it is

necessary to learn to see with your Minds Eye. To assist you in doing this, consider that your body is

an elaborate vessel created to permit the Divine to manifest, work and gain experience here on Earth.

Consider also that you are a point of consciousness for the Divine, that the Divine resides within and

that the Eye of your God is always on you and in you looking out. To align your vision, visualize the

Eye in a Triangle upon your brow in the center of your forehead. Look through this Eye with your

mind, and focus it on your working in the Light. This will become easier and natural to do over time.

Proceeding through the Steps. The more you work with the formula of the Ritual, the more

natural it will become to you. Acknowledge the Steps in your Minds Eye and assert your Will to

organize your Sphere. This is all that is required. See what is to be seen. When embodying the Tree

of Life, see it. See the Pillars, see the Sephiroth in position, and eventually see the connecting Paths.

Use all white spheres at first when embodying the Tree of Life. Coloration and other visualizations

will naturally evolve as you progress in your initiation. As you focus on something, acknowledge its

correspondences. This will help invoke and/or reinforce the presence of the force. As you assign the

elements to their quadrants, place symbols of the elements in the quadrants, project the elements with

your Will to their assigned positions, and do anything else which helps you do what must be done.

Examine your Sphere in your Minds Eye. Move around it. Although there is formula to

movement (which will be the subject of future Scrolls), initially pick a direction. Generally, start in the

east, which is the place of the Rising Sun, and move right or left around the circumference of your

Sphere according to the formula you are using (given above). Every time you move, you see the

corresponding forces, acknowledge them (which invokes and reinforces them) and then you move on.

In this way, you strengthen and reinforce your Sphere with every movement.

Be ever mindful that you are a Childe of God operating in your Sphere. To help you connect to

this, see the Angelic Ring above your head, which is formed along the Path of Daleth connecting

Chokmah and Binah in the embodied Tree of Life. [Additional Commentary: See the paper entitled

the Ritual of the Crown in this regard.] An alternative visualization would be a Cone of Power

emanating from Kether in the embodied Tree of Life and connecting to Chokmah and Binah to form a

Conical Hat of Light. The same may also be visualized as a three-sided Pyramid of Light formed by

the Supernal Triangle, with the Eye ever present in the center thereof. See and feel the Light above

you and emanating from within you, illumining your Sphere and its nature, powers and mysteries. Let

the Light and Love of the Divine shine through. As indicated above, if you step into the Light and

focus on it, it will guide you.

Performing the Ritual Physically. Our work begins on Earth, rises into higher planes and

returns to Earth. As much of our work occurs on the interior planes of the Universe, performing the

Ritual physically only serves to assist in focusing the Eye and asserting the Will to prepare the Sphere

for the work. This can be helpful, especially at first (and is recommended), but is unnecessary. The

Ritual, in its simplest form, can be performed by starting in the center of your Sphere and then turning

to each cardinal direction, following the formula you are using. As you do so, you project, reinforceand acknowledge the formula of the direction you are facing, which is the focus of your Eye. By

focusing your Eye in a direction, and acknowledging the correspondences, you initiate a Will current

to accomplish the work.

For those of you who work with the Thelemic pantheon, the Thelemic formula is commonly

performed while reciting the adoration used in Liber Resh vel Helios, which is from the Stele of

Revealing and in the Book of the Law. This is set forth in an appendix to this paper, and is given for

informational purposes. Take note how a Sign of Projection (also known as the Sign of Horus or the

Sign of the Enterer) is given from the center towards each quarter, and then the Childe returns facing

the east in the Sign of Silence to equilibrate the Sphere.

The Ritual of the Stars is given for you to develop according to your own ingenium. It is

something for you to learn and your Angel to teach. Whether you use magical tools, trace Stars or

other Holy Symbols, or simply move through focusing your Minds Eye is up to you. In all cases, your

movement should be poetic and graceful, yet ever forceful as and when appropriate.

As an alternative to the Sign of Projection, consider the following. Cup your left hand (finger

tips up) withdrawn to your side. Symbolically consider this your Cup. With your right hand, make the

Sign of Benediction, which is made by pointing the index and middle fingers, placing the thumb

against them, and curling the other two fingers to the palm. Symbolically consider this your Wand.
