1. Brushing Your Teeth• Brushing your teeth removes plaque and plaque-

causing food particles from the surface of your teeth that can cause cavities.

• You should brush at least two times a day or after every meal.

• Choose a toothbrush and toothpaste recommended by a dentist.

2. Flossing Your Teeth• Use floss to clean between your teeth and remove

annoying food caught while eating.• Floss is an effective way of getting rid of plaque

3. Brushing Your Tongue• Using a tongue brush or tongue scraper can help

fight bad breath by removing bacteria buildup on your tongue.

5. Drinking Water• Staying hydrated and keeping your mouth flushed

out by drinking enough water helps to stop bad breath and combat bacteria buildup. Try to keep sipping water throughout the day.

6. Chewing Sugar-Free Gum• Chewing gum can help create saliva to wash out

your mouth. However, it has to be sugar free; that way you aren’t keeping sugar in your mouth for a long period of time.

7. Avoiding Sugary Foods• Speaking of sugar, it’s best to avoid sugary foods

during the day, especially in large doses over a long period of time. For example, it’s not a good idea to get a large soda and sip on it all day. The sugar from the soda sits on your teeth and while the acid eats away at your teeth.

• Particularly try to avoid gummy and sticky sugary foods that get stuck on and in between your teeth.

8. Visiting the Dentist• It is recommended that you visit the dentist twice

a year for a checkup, oral exam, and dental cleaning. This keeps your teeth healthy, clean, and well looked after.
