RABΞScreen Types Where can I use a RABScreen air intake filter screen?

Anywhere that you have air movement. It does not ma er what shape or size of opening we can design an air intake screen to suit every applica on. Dry air coolers, chillers, air handling units, condensers, cooling towers, intake louvres and air intakes of any design.

There are only two media types for all air intake screen applica ons.

RABScreen BHA – single layer of black, high abrasion polymer coated, polyester mesh. Black Pvc Coated High Abrasion Media is

a 9x9 1000 Denier Mul Polymer Coated Polyester Mesh. The air flow resistance of a clean BHA air intake screen single layer is

as follows:

0.50m/s 1.25pa

2.03m/s 8.75pa

3.05m/s 17.00pa

RABScreen BHC – single layer black huckaback woven polypropylene. Black Polypropylene HoneyComb Weave is three

Dimensional Polypropylene Honey Comb Weave which has a low air flow resistance whilst the electrosta c charge a racts

airborne debris. It can also be supplied in mul ple layers of media to improve par cle capture of 3 micron par cles to 93%.

The air flow resistance of a clean BHC air intake screen single layer is as follows:

0.50m/s 1.25pa 2.03m/s 12.45pa 3.05m/s 22.42pa

Where would you use BHA or BHC?

The RABScreen BHA air intake filters can only be used in a single layer but it is a high abrasion filter and is perfect for the majority of applica ons where seed, pollen, leaves and insects are an issue.

The RABScreen  BHC air intake screen is for use where fine par culate is a problem and a mul ple layer filtra on solu on is

required. Ideal for fine cement, flour, copier ink and other extra fine par culate.

HOW TO MEASURE A RABΞScreen Model R Rigid Filter

RABΞScreen Model R filters are metal framed, rigid equipment protec on filters.

They are manufactured to fit any air intake opening up to and including 650mm2 .

Model R filters can be a ached via filter racks, brackets, sheet metal screws, magnets to steel cabinets, etc.

A achment should be made on as flat a surface as possible, par cularly when using magnets.

All filters are manufactured to the EXACT size ordered.

Model R filters over 650mm2 are not recommended and are not warran ed, as they are too

easily damaged in handling. When measuring for Model R filters, the filter frame will add

13mm to all edges of your intake opening measurement.

Example: Air Intake 500mm x 500mm (filter face shown in grey)

Measurements will be 526mm x 526mm (frame shown in red)

Note: If the equipment or air intake you are a emp ng to a ach to is not a flat surfaced 13mm outside of the actual

intake face, you should expand your measurement un l you can mount your frame on a flat surface. Add this to your

filter measurements.

In the above example one edge is not flat and needs to be extended by 50mm.

Measurements will be 526mm x 576mm

Magne c A achment:

Magne c stripping is riveted to one face of the rigid frame to allow simple fi ng.

Larger filters also include expanded mesh for addi onal support.

Holes Drilled:

If you want holes drilled through the outside frame, a drawing or sketch specifying

the placement of holes should be provided.

HOW TO MEASURE A RABΞScreen Model U Flexible Filter

RABΞScreens Model U filters are flexible, vinyl framed, equipment protec on filters.

They are manufactured to fit any size or shape of air intake opening.

Model U filters can be a ached to any flat framework with drop tab fastenings, “T” track slide rail, stainless steel

grommets, hook & loop, sheet metal screws or any other fixing of your choice.

A achment should be made a flat surface if possible although some degree of misalignment is permissible.

All filters are manufactured to the EXACT size ordered.

When measuring for RABΞScreens Model U filters, the vinyl border will add 32mm to all

edges of your intake opening measurement. A narrower 19mm width can be provided upon

request.

Example: Air Intake 500mm x 500mm (filter face shown in grey)

Measurements will be 532mm x 532mm (frame shown in red)

Note: If the equipment or air intake you are a emp ng to a ach to is not flat surfaced

32mm outside of the actual filter face, you should expand your measurement un l you can

mount your frame on a flat surface. Add this to your filter measurements.

In the above example one edge is not flat and needs to be extended by 50mm.

Measurements will be 532mm x 582mm

Installa on:

Drop Tab Fastenings – the nylon fi ng should be located to match the centre line of the grommets. Two self‐tapping

stainless steel screws are provided with each fi ng. Pilot holes should be drilled first.

Hook & Loop (Velcro®) Fastening – the moun ng surface should be cleaned with a grease removing agent to provide a

“key”. The self‐adhesive hook strip is then secured to the frame to allow the loop strip filter to be easily fi ed.

Other Fastenings – please discuss with the RABΞScreens air intake filter screen office on 01635 248633
