GIVEN

850 egg layers7 eggs layed every 10 days each layer P 110 per 100 eggsP 5 expenses per layer every 10 days

REQUIRED

How much he gain in 40 days?

SOLUTION

850 x 7 = 5,950 eggs layed in 10 days5,950 x 4 = 23,800 eggs layed in 10 days850 x P 5 = P 4,250 expenses in 10 daysP 4,250 x 4 = P 17,000 expenses in 40 days23,800 ÷100 = 238 hundreds of eggsP110x238 = P 26,180 total sales26,180 ± 17,000Answer = P 9,180 total gain in 40 days

each and ½ for P 6 each. For how much must he sell each of the remainingmangoes in order for him to realize a gross profit of 1/5 of the cost of themangoes?

GIVEN

200 mangoes for P1,000P 8 sold price of 1/10 of the mangoesP 6 sold price of ½ of the mangoes

REQUIRED

Price each of the remaining mangoes to realize a grossprofit of 1/5 of the cost of themangoes.

SOLUTION

1. P1000 x 1/5 = P200 profit equivalent to 1/5 of the cost of mango2. 200 x 1/10 = 20 pieces of mangoes sold for P83. 20 x P 8 = P 160 total sale of mangoes sold for P 84. 200 x ½ = 100 pieces of mangoes sold for P 65. 100 x P 6 = P 600 total sale of mangoes sold for P 66. P 600 + P160 = P 760 total sale of mangoes sold for P 8 and P 67. 200 ± 100 ± 20 = 80 pieces of remaining mangoes8. P 1000 + P 200 ± P 760 = P 4409. P 440 ÷ 80

Answer = P 5.50 price of the remaining 80 mangoes to gain a P 200 profit

GIVEN

3 1/3 hectares of farm90 cavans production for hectare200 cavans only harvested due to typhoon

REQUIRED

Fractional part of the harvest lost per hectare

SOLUTION

1. 200 ÷ 3 1/3= 200 ÷ 10/3= 200 ÷ 3/10= 60 cavans harvested per hectare, due to typhoon

GIVEN

84.059 sum of three numbers46.27 sum of first and second numbers64.459 sum of second and third numbers

REQUIRED

Find the numbersSOLUTION

Let A, B, C the numbers1. A + B = 46.27 B = 46.27 ± A2. B + C = 62.459 C = 62.459 ± B3. A + B + C = 84.059

C = 84.059 ± A ± B= 84.059 ± (46.27-B) ± B= 84.059 ± 46.27 + B ± B

C = 37.789

B = 62.459-c= 62.459 ± 37.789

B = 24.67

A = 46.27 ± B= 46.27 ± 24.67

A = 21.60

CHECKING:

A + B + C = 84.05921.6 + 24.67 + 37.789 = 84.05984.059 = 84.059
