I n a world full of evolving diversity, and open to new ideas, it’s no wonder that a person’s fall fashion sense is all over the place. Whether is be heels and boots, or sweats and tennis shoes, there really are no limitations to fall favorites. On one end of the spectrum is Karissa Holcomb (12) whose dress is considered extremely comfortable and non denomina- tional all while staying stylish and inspira- tional for all genders. Holcomb describes not only her fall style, but her every day style to reporters. “My personal style is casual an- drogynous”, said Holcomb. Whether a style is extremely feminine or extremely masculine many styles are influ- enced by everyday surroundings. “I like this style because it com- fortable and easy. It puts out the message about who I am. Seeing other’s styles inspired my personal style”, said Holcomb. As far as the future for Karissa’s fashion? “I will always dress in men’s cloth- ing”, said Holcomb. On the other end of the spectrum we have Ms. McDowell (English teacher) who has a reputation for being fashion- ably relevant and admirable among the students at Palisade High School. “I would probably describe my personal style as being classic with a vintage hipster twist. I really like to utilize classic pieces like dark jeans and white shirts I like to have those basic staples as part of every outfit. ey are so versatile! I’ve also been known to add an outfit with boots of every size and color, and mix it up with awesome accessories like scarves, bracelets, watches and rings. I love cardi- gans and vests. I think that if you start with the classics you will always have elements of trend at work,” said McDowell. As fashionable as Ms. McDowell is, students might wonder where she gets her inspiration. “Pinterest!! Mostly. I also worked for Abercrombie company for a long time in high school and college so I love that look. My hair is inspired by Ariel in e Little Mermaid. Long, red , fabulous. I look to YouTube and Pinterest for makeup tips and tricks. I worked at Ulta for a long time too so I have a lot of makeup and have been trained by big companies like Smashbox and Bare Escentuals. McDowell discusses how her previous experiences in fashion has helped to develop her per- sonal look. “My style is pretty signature to who I am. I think most students would recognize my look anywhere. For instance, Ms. Huntley and I were twins last year, and most kids guessed that I assembled our twinning outfits. I do like some trendy stuff though! You’ll mostly only see me do that in my accessories” said McDowell . Lastly, McDowell gives a pearl of fashion wisdom to her students. “I would tell my students to be true to who they are in terms of their style and to represent themselves well. I think that if you are demonstrating that, you respect yourself and your accom- plishments through your outfit choices, it doesn’t matter what “style” category you fit into, people are more likely to take you seriously. Besides, no one wants to fit into a category, make your own! 15 Fashion Trends to Fall in Love With A Glimpse of the Popular Fashion Trends this Autumn Season From clockwise from bottom right: A popular shoe option for any cold weather occasion is the Australian boot brand, UGG, which are made of sheepkins, photo by Megan Wethington; fashionable dark lipstick on Eden Barks (10), photo by Megan Wethington; Hailey Carver in a fall themed scarf (9), photo by Aubrey Driscoll; cold weather sweater, photo by Elissa Hillary; Devon Stahl rocking the seasonal beanie, photo by Aubrey Driscoll.
