I am indeed happy in standing in front of you, listen to you, talk to you, clear your doubts, if any, on any company-related issue and even like to meet you personally if you want during my stay here at Korba…

First and foremost, I must tell you that there is no barrier as such between the management and the employee. We are all working for the company, for each-other. So we must always care about the company and see how our company progresses. Then we must see how we can align our career, our aspirations with the company’s goals. If you fall in love with your work, you’ll never have to work for the rest of your life. That means, mentally, we all must get attuned to the company, to ourselves, to our families.

Second, let’s never carry work-related problem to our home. I try to follow this principle in my life and I do take pride in this. I am sure, if you do this, you will see many positive changes in your life as well.

Some of you have raised questions on career and manpower planning. We cannot blame somebody for the challenges we see today in this front. The decisions taken in the past must be taken in response to the scenario at that point of time. Director (HR) is working on this and some solution is expected soon.

I must share with you that some senior people once brought to my notice that they had to literally pass their entire

On career and manpower planning:

On Transfer Policy:

career in the forests while their counterparts have superannuated from Corporate Office after a prolonged stint at the same office. I found some logic in the issue and shared it with the Director (HR) who then developed very transparent policy which is in front of you today.

I don’t know what you people think, but I must clarify why we went to court. We have not gone to court on the ground that we are not able to meet the parameters prescribed by CERC. I must tell you that NTPC is world’s No 1 power generating company and we can meet any such parameters. Since CERC is setting parameters today, we’ll be meeting those parameters at such stations that we

design from now onwards. How can we expect stations built twenty years back to meet those parameters as they were not designed on that line. The issue is expected to be solved shortly. But, that is not going to affect our bottom line for a longer period as it was assumed by some sceptics.

I must urge the employees of my generation to treat the new entrants/freshers as their children. There was a time when a Deputy Manager used to earn lot of respect from the subordinates. There was lot of fellow-feeling then. Now there is a need to revive the good old days. Employees of this generation must treat the oldies as their parents. They must turn to their experienced seniors and subordinates to improve themselves.

On CERC norms:

On Generation Divide:

The programme provides an interface between the employees and the top management of the company. In personal front, I could clarify some previous confusion with regard to policy-related matter. Programmes like this must continue.

Niraj Kumar Sahoo, Sr. Manager, FQA, Korba

The best part of DAD @ Korba was that there was a genuine attempt towards free and fair communication between the management and the employees themselves. No filtering of questions or any bias in any kind further enhances credibility of this sort of new found communication system.

Sudhir Kumar Agarwal, DGM, EMG & AU

Some of our issues were addressed instantly at this forum. Programmes like this must be conducted quite frequently which will definitely enhance the morale of the employees.

K.P. Chandravanshi, Vice-President, RTVKS (INTUC)

Sharing of information about the business strategy and future challenges was an eye-opener to many of the employees. Programmes like this will be useful in creating a positive atmosphere in the workplace.

Anoop Mishra, AGM, FQA & General Secretary, APEX

It was a very good programme and helps us learn about the road-map for the future and how we can align ourself accordingly.

Suknandan Naik, Junior Controller, PLC, Stage II

The various queries answered by our Directors also enriched our understanding. I particularly welcome and express my regards for the announcement of career development scheme as pronounced by our Director HR and hope that it will be implemented soon.

Ajeet Kumar, Sr. Manager (Operation)

Government has approved setting up of 15,000 MW grid-connected solar power projects by NVVN under the National Solar Mission. The projects will be implemented in three phases by NVVN (NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam). In the first phase, the company would commission 3,000 MW. This would be ramped up to 5,000 MW in the second and 7,000 MW in the third phase.

The execution of the first phase would entail an investment of ` 18,000 crore, which would be met by the project developers. “The completion of 15,000 MW capacity projects under the National Solar Mission would accelerate the process of achieving grid tariff parity for solar power and also help reduce consumption of kerosene and diesel, which is presently in use to meet the unmet demand.” Some of the solar PV plants in the first phase are based on bundling of solar power with unallocated thermal power. The electricity would be allotted to various states who provide land for setting up these projects and also those which would purchase a major portion of the solar power for consumption within the state.

Dental Oral Care Habits“A common misconception with oral care habits is that brushing is enough, when in fact brushing alone misses more than half the germs in your mouth . People also forget that it’s important to clean between the teeth, as well as your tongue, cheeks, and the floor of your mouth.,it’s important to make sure you brush, floss, and rinse to ensure you’re cleaning every surface.”

Here are more top toothbrush mistakes people make:

• Using the wrong style of brush. “Some people still like medium or hard toothbrushes, but soft, round-ended bristles are the way to go.“When the plaque is soft, it will come off with a soft brush. Once it hardens into tartar or calculus, it won’t come off with brushing no matter how hard the brush, but you can damage the delicate gum tissue by using those types of brushes.

• Not replacing an old brush. You should replace your toothbrush every three to four months for dental health, but many people let it go way beyond this point. “When the bristles become splayed out, they cannot properly clean the various surfaces of your teeth, “In addition, many of the power brushes lose cleaning power as the brush head ages.”

• Brushing back and forth. Often, the brushing mistake has to do with brushing technique itself. “You should brush in a circular motion, angling the bristles of the brush at a 45-degree angle to the gumline and focus on a couple teeth at a time. “This enables you to clean under the gums, where most plaque is present and causes the most harm. This also helps avoid over-brushing.”

• Moving all around. People don’t always follow a set order as they move around their mouth brushing. “When we brush in this fashion, we tend to miss various surfaces of the teeth because it is hard to know where we have and have not brushed. “You should brush your teeth with a systematic approach. There are four quadrants of the mouth and three surfaces to brush per tooth. You should brush all the surfaces of one quadrant of the mouth at a time.”

• Brushing too aggressively. Not a lot of force is needed to do a good job brushing, Most people forget that bacteria and food particles that remain on the teeth after eating a meal are very soft in texture. “Therefore, gentle brushing is all that is needed to remove the bacteria and food.” If you use an electric toothbrush, keep in mind that it was designed to do it all. “Vigorous movement of the electric toothbrush against the teeth and gums and using heavy arm pressure can negatively affect the condition of your teeth and gums and can even cause gum recession.

• Not brushing long enough.. “Most people, when asked how long they brush, typically say about one to two minutes, when in reality they typically brush for only 30 seconds. It importantto access all the areas of the mouth and all surfaces of the teeth to effectively clean the tooth surfaces of bacteria and food, and to coat each tooth surface with the cleansing toothpaste.” Using too much toothpaste. The flip side of the previous tip is that most of us slather way more toothpaste onto our toothbrush than we actually need. “You just need a pea-sized amount for most toothpastes.
