.. . Book Buddies . . .

The Book Buddy program back and you can be a part of this! The purpose of a book buddy is to help students develop a fondness for reading, helping them become a more fluent reader and help them improve their reading comprehension. As a volunteer you will read orally once a week with your student and create an encouraging partnership with them. If you are interested, please contact Patty Clark at 601-956-6826-H, 601-201-9332-C or [email protected]

McLeod school is at the end of Westbrook Road.

Parish Hall Painting Continues! On Saturday, November 1st, we will be finishing up the Sun-day school rooms in the parish hall, and painting the rest rooms. If you have experience painting walls and trim, please join us from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Bring any good brushes, roller pan inserts, and roller pads. Lunch will be provided. Contact Chad Espeland @ [email protected].

Nursery and Sunday School Interruptions Because of the renovation in the Parish Hall, we will not be able to have Sunday School or Nursery on Sunday, Novem-ber 9th or Sunday, November 16th. We are very, very sorry for this; we've tried every which way to make it work, but because of the need to have all materials and furniture out of the rooms for these two Sundays and the amount of construction going on, we feel it would be safer to keep these rooms clear. We will resume all Christian Education for all children on Sunday, November 23nd.

Parish Hall Renovation! Our contractors have begun tearing out the carpet downstairs in the EYC room and preparing for the new flooring. With luck, this area should be done by this weekend, but it depends on schedules. NOW, we need your help. We have to move everything off the floors and out of the areas of the entire upstairs of the building this Sunday so the construction crew can begin asbestos abatement and then prepping/laying of new floors. Please make plans to help out after the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday, November 2. (Come casual or bring a change of clothes!) There will be a task for every person who shows up, from children to adults. You don’t have to be able to move heavy equipment; we also have need for boxers and lunch servers. We have boxes and an on-site storage unit to accomplish the task, but WE NEED YOU! If we have a goodly number of people here, we believe it will take less than two hours. One of the things I have always loved about this parish is the willingness of folks to come out when there is a need, and this is a big one. Of course, the need for moving assistance is on-going; it’s not just this weekend. Once our gorgeous new floors are installed, we have to move everything back in place and then we can begin enjoying the fruits of our labor! It’s a momentous task, but the reward is huge! Please come help. If you are new to the parish, it’s a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and to meet others. If you have been here since the first cornerstone was laid, the exact same is true! We look forward to seeing you Sunday! Lunch will be available to all who are able to assist.

Altar Guild News

The Altar Ladies met on Saturday, October 4 for the Annual Fall meeting. We welcomed new members Teresa Miller, Ann Mollere, and Mary Ann Everett with the Altar Rose, and we welcomed Fonda Devrow back. We had a good meeting, things seem to be going well. We will hang the greens on December 21st after the 10:30 a.m. service. The Central Convocation Altar Guild meeting is at Chapel of the Cross beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 4th. I plan to go and if you’d like to join me, please call me. On November 14-15 Bishop Michael Curry will be at the Gray Center for the annual Fall ECW meeting. You can come both days or just on Saturday. Fliers are in the church. I understand this is too good to miss. November is busy, what will De-cember be like? I failed to mention All Saints’ Day and Evensong on Saturday, November 1st at 6:00 p.m. My head is spinning. I’ll see you for sure at church. Love, Lucette
