Spring Conference March 24-25, 2017 at
the Gray Center
Ann Phelps and the Rev. Andrew Barnett from the Theodicy Jazz Collective will join us as keynote speakers and worship leaders. They will offer a diverse array of musical styles and voices in an effort to stretch our understanding of what
constitutes "traditional" Christian worship. By including such a variety of voices in worship as we create sacred space to connect to God, we will consider the ways that words and music shape the how we understand and experience God, self,
and neighbor.
The Theodicy Jazz Collective believes that music has the power to promote peace and justice in society and that the jazz ideals of diversity, flexibility, and listening can help the church thrive in our rapidly changing world. Inspired by jazz, blues,
gospel, traditional hymns, and world music, Theodicy is currently Ensemble in Residence at Washington National Cathedral and has been featured at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Trinity Wall Street, Canterbury
Cathedral, and on National Public Radio.
Ann currently serves as Director of Religious Life at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. Andy is the Director of Multicultural
Worship at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. For more information, stay tuned to www.graycenter.org
REMEMBER: If you are unable to serve, it is your responsibility to secure a replacement.
