A Message from Pastor Jason: VOLUME 2, ISSUE 3 MARCH 2016 Prayers & Praises... Dear Saints of the Cabot Church, A number of years ago my wife and I were traveling from Pennsylvania back to Kentucky after the holiday sea- son. We had been traveling most of the day and night was upon us. As the sun set, the rain that had been com- ing down turned to snow and ice. The driving was treacherous. Accidents were everywhere. We began to be concerned for our safety through the night, when up ahead we saw the blinking yellow lights of a snowplow/ salt truck. Right then and there I decided that I would follow that truck no matter how slow it was going. I just drove where the snowplow had already been! That way we were a lot less likely to end up in a ditch! All this makes me think of John 10:3-4. “The sheep listen to the Shepherd’s voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.” I love those words, “He goes ahead of them.” Like that snowplow on that dangerous night, going where you’re about to go and clearing the way. Our Shepherd, Jesus, always goes where He’s about to take us, because we are His sheep. He gets there before we do, opening doors, preparing hearts, preparing relationships, removing obstacles, arranging provision. As the new year is well under way, it may be that fear or uncertainty is holding you back from God’s next step for you; fear of the “mights,” the “coulds,” the “what ifs.” You can’t go any farther without taking some risks, trying some things you’ve never tried, leaving some things you’ve never done without, going into situations that are unfamiliar, reaching out to some people whose reactions you can’t be sure of. Perhaps there are some health issues in your life that bring uncertainty in this new year. Or maybe you’re in a transition time in your life. You’re about to move from one stage of life to another. Or you are just facing some very scary prospects. Listen to Jesus’ wonderful answer to that shadow that seems to spread over your future. “I’ll get there first. I am going ahead of you.” The security of a sheep is in knowing that wherever they go, they will find the Shepherd’s footprint. That’s your security, that’s your safety in the flock of Jesus Christ - the Good Shepherd who laid down His life for His sheep; laid down His life for you. You can count on it. The Lord will never lead you anywhere that He has not first scouted and prepared for you. The snowplow clears the road ahead and so does our Good Shepherd. His job is to make the road safe. The CUMC Pastoral Care Committee also provides meals to members of our church family who have re-cently been released from the hospital or are going through a serious medical situation. If you need this help, please call or have a family member call Elaine Hinderliter at 724-352-1936 to set up delivery of meals. Meals will be provided every other day for up to 2 week.
Also, we need folks that are able to help provide these meals!! If you are willing to help and would like to be included on the updated list of volunteers, please contact Elaine at 724-352-1936.

Flo Parker who lives over in the Concordia Havens won a Sponsorship Award at the 2015 Saxonburg Festival of the Arts back in September and we’re just now hearing about it! Flo won her award for her watercolor painting titled “Sunset.” She reportedly used to “dabble in art” before moving to the Concordia Havens and she even once had the opportunity to paint with the late Bob Ross, the famous American painter, instructor and television host!! What a great memory that is. She has won three ribbons in local art shows and is always experimenting with new mediums. We can’t wait to see what you do next Flo. You’ll have to check with Flo to see how you can see her original, but for now, congratulations to our dear church member.

A Seder Supper is a symbolic meal of the Passover meal celebrated by the Jews to remember the Exo-dus—being rescued from Egypt. This will only be a tasting of what was once served so come ready to taste, but not to have a full supper.
Please sign up in the Welcome Center if you plan on attending so that we have an idea of how many to prepare for. But it is not necessary that you sign up to come! All are welcome!

Wow, I can’t believe
how busy February
was. The basketball
games are still going
on and I’m still watching that I
don’t get stepped on. The last
game is March 12th.
On Wed., Feb. 10th, people came
for the Ash Wednesday service. At
first I didn’t know why people had
black on their foreheads, and then
I noticed the sign of the cross, the
symbol of what Easter is all about.
Feb. 12th & 13th there were cou-
ples here for the Art of Marriage.
I was hanging around the gym on
Wednesday, the 17th because I
could smell food. St. Joseph’s
served the Community Meal. You
know me I always like the crumbs.
I heard the Secret Sisters had a
luncheon on the 20th at Cooper
Station, to reveal who their Secret
Sister was. It would have been
nice if someone would have taken
me along.
Ladies were here on that evening
(the 20th) for Chick Flick. I snuck
in to watch it a little bit and to get
some of the good snacks they al-
ways have. You know, I don’t like
to miss anything.
Back to Secret Sisters...on Sunday
the 21st the ladies met to join and
pick their new Secret Sister for
2016. Paula Scott is coordinating
the group.
Also on the 21st, they had the
annual Wild Game Dinner at 6:00.
There was some great food there
also.
So, as you see we like to eat and
enjoy the company of our church
family and friends.

Fulfilling God’s desire for us to help those in desperate need as told in the story of the Good Sa-maritan (Luke 10:30-37), Samaratin’s Purse teams work in crisis areas of the world providing spiritual and physical aid to hurt-ing people in dire need. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, dis-ease, and famine with the pur-pose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. As the Apostle Paul said, “For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and our-selves as your servants for Je-sus’ sake” (2 Corinthians 4:5)
