G. Lufft Mess- und Regeltechnik GmbH, located in Fellbach near Stuttgart, has been developing and producing professional sensors and systems for climate and environment measurement for more than 130 years. The precision workmanship of highly skilled specialists has enabled our LUFFT label to be known and the products to be purchased worldwide. Intelligent meteorological sensors form the basis of highly available measuring networks along roads, rails and at airports all over the world. Meteorological services and environmental bodies appreciate the precise and long lasting Lufft quality as do building equipment manufacturers and energy suppliers as well.We underline our claims to high quality by operating our own calibrating laboratory. This laboratory contains an accredited wind tunnel in which all wind sensors are tested thoroughly before delivery.Lufft products and equipment are to be found wherever atmospheric pressure, temperature, relative humidity and other environmental factors require to be measured or recorded.
Industrial Measuring Devices: Industrial climate measurement technology must not only ensure reliable climate conditions – it must also monitor them. Our high precision portable and stationary measuring devices ensure compliance with your indoor air quality speci cations. And our software solutions ful l exactly what you wish from your speci c application.
Wind and Weather: Intelligent environmental sensor technology –compact „all-in-one“, individual „stand-alone“ sensors as well as mobile solutions. The modular concept offers the ideal sensor solutions for every ap-plication. In addition to robustness (metal housing) and the high ac-curacy, long-term stability, calibration capabilities as well as a virtu-ally maintenance-free operation form the base for the reliable use of environmental sensors. A wide variety of digital interfaces ensures easy integration into many systems.
Traffi c and Weather: A key element for reliable travel times on land (rail and road), in the air (at airports) and for ships (offshore). Our sensors and systems support proactive decision-making for winter maintenance services or the switching of variable message signs on motorways in real time. Ships rely on our wind sensors in the same way as airports depend on the precise measurement of runway conditions. For this we offer both mobile and stationary sen-sor systems.

Cooperation with system partners worldwide demands a wide variety of different models and interfaces. The environmental sensors from Lufft, whether used stationary or mobile, can be integra-ted into new or existing applications by means of many different protocols.
Solar and Wind Power, Meteorology and Hydrology, Agricultural Weather, Building Automation and Air QualityApplications.
Lufft sensors, both in plastic
and metal housing, use
ultrasonic technology for the
precise measuring of wind
speed and direction. Our
sensors are tested in our own
high-precision wind tunnel, so
that you know how strong and
where the wind is blowing.
The Lufft Ceilometer detects
visibility, aerosol profi les and
cloud heights in the atmos-
phere by means of LIDAR
technology.
For air quality monitoring networks the acquisition of precise meterologi-cal data of local conditions as well as gas and dust detection play a major role when it comes to the spread of air pollution. In both applications the members of our intelligent weather sensor family as well as the cloud and snow height sensors enjoy a high degree of acceptance – regard-less of whether they are placed on the pod of a wind turbine at an altitude of 100 meters, close to a volcano in order to detect volcano ash forma-tions or on a container for air qual-
ity at an altitude of 10 meters.
None of the above mentioned areas is growing as rapidly as the wind farm business. Wind turbines are observed with the help of high-precision wind sen-sors, both in the planning and installa-tion period. On the one side, the pro ling analysis aids in determining how quickly the return on the planned investment
will be; on the other side it controls whether the sensor’s wind data is transferred to the control unit reliably dur-
ing operation.

It’s hard to believe that it is possible to meas-ure the thickness of a droplet of rain and that our radar sensor is able to detect how much precipitation is falling, what type of rain it is and its size! In such cases high-tech sensor systems are extremely precise and scrupu-lous in every detail. When it comes to dealing with traffi c safety, Lufft measuring technol-ogy knows no mercy.
When each droplet counts!
Every time when traf c comes to a standstill it not only affects the mood of the motor ist, but also cleverly devised supply chain systems. The result of this are de-layed deliveries or cancellations and ulti-mately the loss of time; time which none of us has! In today’s world there is a huge need for road traf c management as well as monitoring systems and this is where we from Lufft can help.Next to sensors in use of traf- c guidance systems regulating road capacities, we at Lufft are the experts for the detection of disturban-ces caused by weather.

Our measuring units deliver the neces-sary information to winter services in real time. This information consists of the re-commended road salt concentration, the activation of relevant safety speeds on short notice, the analysis of risk due to fog, as well as the danger of sudden gusts of wind or black ice. Our sensing techno-logy even registers a threat of icing before the event occurs. This is needed for on-time and preventive actions.Come wind, rain or shine - our fully automatic measuring technology works non-stop on the roadside or mobile from the vehicle directly.
Driving gets safer with Lufft.

Keywords in Measuring Technology
Sensors deal with the questions regar-ding what should be measured, under which conditions and how precisely. Many of today’s sensors are already being used as small micro computers. These sensors can complete software tasks such as digit al data output, as well as carrying out calibration and calculation functions.
Data recording refers to the way in which single pieces of measured data are processed on site and saved.
Data transfer regulates the transmissi-on of data to the central analysis station. Here we differentiate between wireless and wired transfer. At the moment the-re are also various transfer and protocol formats such as TCP/IP, GPRS or CDMA.
Software not only analyses, but, more importantly, visualizes all kind of data streams, numbers, codes and measure-ment series that are collected in the hard drive. Descriptive implementation and so-phisticated visualization technology plays a crucial role in comprehending and un-derstanding measurement results.
App The Lufft APP development is also becoming increasingly important for your in-dustry and environmental applications.

Every sensor has to take a break once in a while. Each measuring unit uctuates slightly during its operating time. This is not a question of a fault ora unit’s function al ef ciency, but a recognized phenom enon by all parties in this branch. A minimal uctuation in precision occurs even with Lufft sen-sors; and our sensors are es pecially durable modules that are con tinually placed under extreme con ditions (measuring CO2 in incubators, humidity measurements in tropical conditions, e.g. at the equator).Lufft, as a member of the German Cali-bration Service (DKD/DAkkS), uses the prescribed reference norms from the Physikalisch-Technischen Bundesanstalt (PTB) for recalibration.

Lufft named “Brand of the Century”
On Thursday evening, November 22, 2012, the pinnacle lass of German industrial brands according to word and image was presented at Berlin’s Hotel Adlon Kempin-ski for the 10th time. The standard refer-ence work “German Standards – Brands of the Century” provides information on companies that help form the backbone of the “Made in Germany” brand. Our brand G. Lufft GmbH was named a “Brand of the Century” as part of the 10th anniver-sary edition of the brand lexicon. Book publisher Dr. Florian Langenscheidt was on hand to give the German Standards Brand Prize to our CEO Klaus Hirzel who expressed his gratitude, especially for the recognition of 130 years of Lufft quality and innovations.
Overall Winner of the Industry Award
Another distinction of which we are proud is the German Industry Award 2015. This we owe to the new mobile road sensor MARWIS, which is now ranking as the
best innovation in the industrial branch throughout Germany. MARWIS has not only been the winner in the category
“Optical Technologies” but also outpaced large international compa-nies as overall winner
of the whole competition. The recognized industry award was
handed over on April 13, 2015 for the 10th time with the intention to strengthen medi-um-sized businesses and to promote their innovativeness. In addition, the outstand-ing product receives an entry into the In-dustry’s List of the Best from Huber Verlag – a new media publisher in Germany.
Precision is Guaranteed.A Passion for Precision
Over 130 years of experience in this business has opened up new global hori zons for us. What we produce at the Lufft headquarters in Baden-Württemberg has in the meantime become well known all around the world and is bringing together em ployees and partners from different nations. Many of our customers permanently rely on Lufft products and this gives us a clear target.
Accuracy has a future. Measuring products and precise verifi cations are becoming more and more important in the sensitive and highly specialized handling of production processes and the analysis of outcomes. Measuring tech-nology is continuously fi nding new and meaningful fi elds of application. An example of this could be the controlling of the breeding and upbringing of endangered species or the recording and evaluation of “exposure tests” e.g. in the automotive industry. Monitoring systems are also able to optimize the growth of microbiological cultures for healing substances in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the research and documentation of climatic changes.
