A SUDDEN GUST OF WIND Image making + Game Engine Technologies Sebastian Tiew Weds am: 10:00 - 13:00 *this course runs in Term 2 only All sessions will be taught online Study for ‘A Sudden Gust of Wind (After Hokusai)’, Jeff Wall, 1993 A Sudden Gust of Wind (after Hokusai) by Jeff wall explores how an image is constructed through processes of layering, collaging and framing in order to achieve its desired composition. Learning from Wall, we will build fictional landscapes that create a sense of time and dynamic movement, around a main protagonist. Starting with this character on a looping walk cycle animation, this course will use gaming technologies, 3D workflows and composition techniques to explore concepts of set-design, lighting and composition in order to construct an image virtually. Core learning: Image-making, Composition, Cinematic time-based media, Unreal Engine 5, Animation, 3D modelling and workflows. Technical Requirements: Laptop/Desktop*, Mouse, Rhino/Blender/3ds Max, Unreal Engine * Desktop or Laptop with a dedicated Nvidia or AMD graphics card, min 8 GB RAM and 250 GB SSD (any 2018 and above MacBook Pro, gaming laptop or workstation)

Study for ‘A Sudden Gust of Wind (After Hokusai)’, Jeff Wall, 1993

A Sudden Gust of Wind (after Hokusai) by Jeff wall explores how an image is constructed through processes of layering, collaging and framing in order to achieve its desired composition.
