Happy Birthday Canada!
It might not be official, but summer weather has been popping up everywhere! I was in Presqui’ile Pro-
vincial Park on the Victoria Day long weekend and it couldn’t have been more perfect! Yes, the water was a little cold, but other than that, perfect! Hope yours was great!
We have a special section for our younger readers in this issue. In it, we have included a worksheet from the Ontario Children’s Outdoor Charter (turn to page 40). I know you are all about the outdoors, but I wanted to share this chart as it’s a great tool. It gives kids some-where to record things they’ve done, and a full sheet of lined paper should they have more to jot down. Remove the chart from the magazine, fold it twice, and it’s ready to go! Why not photocopy a few, or else download it from their website at www.childrensout-doorcharter.ca. Hope you have fun with it! Kids, don’t forget that we would love to hear about your adven-tures!
As Canada Day is fast approaching, we’ve included a little Canadian trivia to test your knowledge of Cana-dian history. The challenge begins on page 34!
Every year we hear of crazy mishaps involving our RVs. We all hate to admit it, but sometimes these things happen! Have you ever done something dumb that would qualify you? Many of us have! Turn to page 18 for the 2014 RV-OOPS Awards, and see who made the list!
Some of you may have read the two-part article on Boondocking by Brad Gris. Well, it’s Marilyn’s turn in this issue. For two and a half months, Marilyn and Brad toured California on a budget. It is an amazing state with so much to see. Part 1 begins on page 26.
Campfires are a very big part of camping. We sit around the fire with friends and family, and it makes us feel good about life. We talk, we laugh, we make S’mores and hot dogs, but sometimes we just sit and watch the stars or the flames and don’t talk at all. It’s my favourite time. Let’s protect our forests. Please do not move firewood between areas. Buy it locally, and burn it on site. Pests in our firewood can destroy our forests. Please keep them safe!
Enjoy the beginning of summer in Canada! Be safe, be happy, and keep smiling!
