• Was awarded the prestigious Overseas Visiting Scholarshipat St. John’s College, Cambridge and was the official facultyvisitor to the faculty of Economics and Politics, Cambridge (U.K.)between January and June 1990 where I taught Macroeconomicsand Development Economics to the undergraduate (Tripos)students. This apart I audited some courses at M.Phil and didresearch pertaining to Marxian economics as well as Inflation.These were later published in the form of a chapter in a bookas well as an independent book.

• Was awarded Post-Doctoral Fulbright Scholarship at theUniversity of Texas, at Austin (U.S.A.) between October 1991and April 1992. I was associated with Prof. David Kendrick whois a world-renowned control theorist and conducted pioneeringresearch in the area of computational stochastic control macro-econometric models. These involved ‘learning’ of different kindand setting a stage for Monte Carlo studies. The work apart fromserving as an input into a book also enabled me to publish twoworking papers at CER, UT Austin and a paper in a journal.

• Apart from the International Exposure gained from above, I havebeen invited to Vienna, Austria for presenting a paper in aconference on Cybernetics and Control.

• I have also been invited to deliver a lecture on Indian Economy toBologna, Italy in a conference entitled La Forza.

• I was invited by the World Bank to Washington DC, USAto make a presentation on the on-going project (that I was aLead Consultant for) on Land Markets and Land ManagementPractices: The Case of Mumbai.

• I was invited for a BBL on the findings of the work on Land MarketManagement at The World Bank Washington DC. USA.

• Invited to participate in an authors’ workshop at Lincoln LandInstitute, Cambridge, Boston, USA.

• Invited to participate in a conference at Brooking Institution,Washington DC USA on Metropolitan Finance in DevelopingCountries.

• Invited as a Panelist in an International Seminar by FinanceMinistry (Indonesia) and GIZ & ITC at Jakarta, Indonesia.

CoursesTaught • We had a dual system of MA (now only credit based system), one

which is credit based semester system and another which is atraditional annual system. In the annual type, we have a system ofsharing the teaching of papers or courses at M.A. I have taught thecore papers of Microeconomic Theory and Development Economics.

• Amongst the optional papers, I have taughtMathematical Economics,Econometrics, Financial Economics, Urban Economics and MonetaryEconomics. I may mention here that I introduced the ‘Finance’ and‘Urban’ courses at MA (designing and teaching). This course hassince been discontinued. Most Recently I have designed a coursein India Economy to be taught in two parts (each of two credits)as a part of core courses in the choice based credit system to beadministered in a semester format and will be teaching the course.In the credit system I have taught the core course on Mathematicsfor Economists apart from Urban Economics and Urban Governanceand Infrastructure Issues/ Finance (Electives)

My doctoral work was in the area of Control and Filtering of Macro-econometric models, naturally my interest in that area continued,strengthened by the newer techniques now available in the area of stochasticcontrol. AdministrativeExperience 1. Between September 2008 and September 2011, I was the Director of

the Department of Economics (Autonomous). Being the autonomousdepartment implies that it is a microcosm of the university. All theprocesses have been streamlined and new governance initiatives havebeen taken. My earlier experience (as Dean, Management Councilmember and Chairman Campus Development Council) helped meimmensely in this process
