Simultaneous Reading
On the 22nd of May, Senior Constable Mitch Wakefield was our
guest reader for the na onal simultaneous reading day. The book
for this year was Alpacas with Maracas. This book tells a story of
resilience, which is one of our PBL values, and the students
really enjoyed it. Senior Constable Mitch Wakefield then answered
ques ons from the students about being a police officer.

GRIP Leadership Conference
Friday 31st of May 2019 Term 2 Week 5
On 21st May, Team 3 students from EA Southee
joined forces with students from Jugiong Public
School and a ended Mor mer Shield in Junee to
play Rugby League and League Tag. The students
displayed fantas c sportsmanship and included
the Jugiong students into their team. The girls
played 4 games, winning 2 of those. The boys
played 3 tough games, winning 2. Well done to
Riley Meale and Amelia Sheather who were both
awarded player of the day.
On Monday the 27th May, the leadership team went to Wagga to attend the GRIP leadership conference. The leadership conference was creative, inspirational and mood lifting. We learnt the 4 CORE traits of leadership which are, Confidence with Humility, Others Focused, Reliability and Empathy. We were entertained by the Loud Noise Boys who were very good at engaging the audience and getting the whole hall to shout. We had the opportunity to meet with students from other schools and discuss leadership with them, some of them even got invited up onto the stage to participate in games and activities that were very entertaining.

On Monday 27th of May, Year 4 hosted the school assembly and performed a play based on their
novel study Ma lda. The students performed really well and should be proud of themselves.
Congratula ons to all the class award winners and Skyla Douglas‐Smith for winning the PBL
award for upholding our PBL values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.

On 17th of May, EA Southee held its cross country event within
the school grounds this year. The students and parents enjoyed
being able to watch the whole course. Well done to our cross

Team 3 News You are never too old for a good picture book! Team 3 have been learning to write a Narra ve text over the past few weeks. This week we have
been concentra ng on the structure of a Narra ve and what be er place to begin, than a quality
picture book? Team 3 read "Stranded" by Jan Ramage and iden fied the Orienta on, Complica‐
on and Resolu on. Students then chose their own books and
found and discussed the structure in each. Our focus this week is
using adjec ves and improving our use of descrip ve language to
"paint a picture" for the reader. Throughout the week, Team 3
students will be wri ng their own narra ve on the topic of
"Through the doorway". Team 3 Educators can't wait to be
entertained by the students crea ve ideas!
Year 1/2D News 1/2D have introduced a morning circle and have been enjoying the short ac vi es aimed at pro‐
mo ng wellbeing and friendships within the class. During Literacy, we have been focusing on our
wri ng skills by responding to stories we have read individually and as a class and are planning
and wri ng our own imagina ve stories.
In Maths, we have learnt about halves, posi on, me and
seasons and are looking forward to new maths groups and
rota ons.
In Yalbinyagirri with Kindy, we have made body percussion
music and learnt a new Wiradjuri gree ng – ‘Yiradhu
marang’ (Good Day).
