The on-going evolution of the aeronautical market has led to the need to have new specialized figures in this field. For that reason the Institute “S. Carlo” has started the iter for the recognition as Aircraft Maintenance Training Organisation according to Annex IV (Part-147) EU Regulation nr. 1321/2014 and, finally, it got the Certificate IT.147. 0015 by the Italian Authority, ENAC. The Istituto Scolastico S.Carlo offers a wide range of other training courses and services, accurately tailored to the needs of individuals, as well as of aviation Companies. Our offer includes different solutions: A) Classroom Basic Training Course for Cat. B1.1 and/or Cat. B1.2; B) On-line Modular Course for Cat. B1.1 and/or Cat. B1.2 (distance learning); C) Exams for Cat. B1.1 and/or Cat. B1.2. Our instructors can provide specialized training in every country. PART 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML)

What is the Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML)?

According to Regulation (EU) 1321/2014 all staff authorized

to certify maintenance on aircraft (Certifying Staff) and

working for Aeronautical Maintenance Organisation is

asked to get the Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML)

according to Annex III (Part 66) of the Regulation.

The Licence is issued by the Competent Authority (in Italy

ENAC - Ente Nazionale per l’Aviazione Civile) and is valid in all the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency)Member

States.

Who is the Aircraft Maintenance Technician?

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician is a high qualified

professional employee who can issue the certificate of

release to service after completing all the maintenance

tasks. The technician must guarantee a high level of

efficiency on aircraft performing all checks, inspections,

replacement and repairs of damages find on the

aircraft, eliminating all technical faults detected before,

during or after the flight.

What are the job opportunity for the aircraft

maintenance technicians?

ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) recently

hosted a five-day event to face up to the challenge of the

shortage expected in the near future for skilled professionals

in the aviation field.

At the meeting were invitated representatives

of the Member States, industry and training institutions and

together defined and quantified the problem , proposed

approaches to solve it and outlined the leadership role of

ICAO in gene rating cooperation among concerned

stakeholders towards reaching and implementing solutions.

Statistics:

In the next 20 years, airlines will introduce 25,000 new

aircraft to the current of 17,000-strong commercial fleet;

within 2026, the air operators will need more than 480.000

new technicians to guarantee the efficiency of these

aircraft;

Course Objectives

The course is intended to get all the Certificates

of Recognition for the issue of the Aircraft

Maintenance Licence Category B1.1 (Gas

Turbine aeroplanes) or the Aircraft Maintenance

Licence Category B1.2 (Piston aeroplanes) by the

Competent Authority.

The E-learning Platform and Seminars

The Istituto Scolastico S.Carlo has activated, in

collaboration with the University of Verona, a

platform for the distance learning where there

are:

Training notes (in english);

Video-lessons (in english);

Test Simulations (in english);

Forum.

What are the contents of the course?

Each course (for Cat. B1.1 or Cat. B1.2) is

composed by 13 theoretical modules, according

to the Annex III - EU Regulation nr. 1321/2014.

How the exams are performed?

All basic examinations are carried out using the

multi-choice question format and, for some

modules, the essay questions. Each multi-choice

question has three alternative answers of which

only one is the correct answer The pass mark for

each module and sub-module multi-choice part

and essay questions of the examination is 75 %.

A Certificate of Recognition is issued for every

module, but only if the candidate passed the

respecting exam.

Where seminars and exams are performed?

Final Exams are carried out at Istituto “S.Carlo” -

Verona, via Villa n. 12 (ITALY).

Once I have passed the exam, how can I get

the Aircraft Maintenance Licence?

After the course, it’s necessary to get practical

experience. This can be done practicing

activities at Maintenance Organisation

recognized as Part-145 and/or Part M/F

according to the EU Regulation nr. 1321/2014.

After this period, you can fill in the application

form and submit it to the Competent Authority in

order to get the licence of aeronautical

maintenance technician, according to the rules

established by the same Authority. Together with

the application form (EASA FORM 19), you have

to enclose:

a. Identity Card;

b. All the Certificates of Recognition

pertaining to each module you have

passed;

c. The recorded maintenance practical

activities performed according to times

and rules of the European norm.

Once the required standards have been

checked, the Competent Authority will issue the

Aircraft Maintenance Licence.
