SBDM Parent Heather Glaros To Whom It May Concern; My name is Heather Glaros and I would like to be considered as a parent representative for The Academies of Bryan Station’s SBDM Committee. I am from Lexington, Kentucky and I graduated from Bryan Station in 1996. I am the mother of two wonderful children. My daughter Natalie will be a sophomore at Bryan Station in the Fall of 2020. My son will be a senior at The Stables. When my son was in elementary school he was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. Upon diagnosis, I threw myself in to learning everything I possibly can about how to help my son excel. It became a passion and a curse, as anyone would tell you who also has a child with special needs. I wanted to share my experiences with as many people as I could. In 2017, I was granted the opportunity to do so. I am currently the Special Education Parent Liaison for Fayette County Public Schools’ Parent Resource Center. With this position I am able to help parents who sometimes feel helpless and hopeless. As much as I love my position, I would also appreciate the chance to have parents like myself be heard on the SBDM. I want to ensure fairness, equality and a positive experience for all students at the Academies of Bryan Station.
