Under a contract from the French government’s weapons procurement agency, Delega- tion Generale pour l’Armement (DGA), CMN will design, con- struct and supply a total of 120 specialized containers for the transportation and storage of the missile ammunition for the Crotale VT1 mobile air defence system. The cases will be construct- ed in composites to a high specification and will be deliv- ered over a period of several months. CMN supplies compression moulded composite cases, con- tainers and rackmount cases for a wide range of commercial and military applications and spe- cializes in the design and construction of high perform- ance special composite con- tainers for military and scientif- ic equipment. It is currently producing composite contain- ers for equipment storage and shipment for various military programmes, including Ray- theon’s Paveway II and III sys- tems, and from an internation- al group to supply a range of high-technology composite storage and shipment contain- ers for JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munitions). This contract requires CMN Composites to design, qualify and manufacture a series of sev- eral hundred large containers, capable of carrying and storing the highly sensitive electronic positioning, guidance and telecommunications equip- ment for air-launched GPS- guided bombs. VELOCITY.ONE (V.1) con- sists of high strength, low weight components for modify- ing vehicles. Parts are currently available for the Toyota Celica, GT, GTS, Supra TT, 2002 Honda Civic Si, S2000, Acura RSX, NSX, and Lexus IS300, with those for the MP3 Protege, MP5 Protege, Lancer EVO, Tiburon, 350Z, RSX, MR2 Spyder, VW Golf and Mini Cooper follow- ing in the near future. Parts are made using IPT’s TrueMold™ moulding process with carbon fibre prepreg mate- rials like those used in Formula One racing. Each TrueMold part is hand laid, vacuum-sealed, and cured in an autoclave. According to IPT, the TrueMold process creates parts with struc- tural integrity and durability, low weight, and which retain the natural polish and gloss of carbon fibre without the discol- oration associated with clear coats.
