1. Get your PC ready

What you'll need to run Windows Mixed Reality:

• Acer Windows Mixed Reality Headset• Make sure your PC is running the latest version of Windows 10.• Mouse and keyboard, or Motion Controllers.

2. Install Acer VR Utility for FPV (Experimental)

• You can install Acer VR Utility for FPV (Experimental)

• The installer may need your administrator permission, please accept the UAC prompt and provide your password if asked.

• After you installed, you can see the Utility app on the desktop

3. Launching Utility

• For all, you must have the Mixed Reality Portal running

• Start the Mixed Reality Portal. Make sure you can see your controller.

• If you see the display visuals are choppy, load slowly, or don’t look good. You can set your mixed reality experience refresh rate to 60Hz (For Windows 10 Spring Creator’s Update Version 1803 devices)

• Choose change and set your mixed reality experience refresh rate by following steps

• Launch the Acer VR Utility for FPV (Experimental) from your Desktop

• You can launch the utility from your desktop. It will be launch both Win32 application and UWP app.

• Let's look at the utility status window. This app allow you to set the control and key mapping. You can also simulate your headset as your mouse.

4. Playing your games

• Now you can see your Desktop. Launching your games from Desktop

• To launch games without taking off your headset, you can view and interact with your PC desktop inside Windows Mixed Reality while using the utility.

• You may see the notification “Press OK to back to previous full-screen application”. You can use this function to return to your game.

• Enjoy it!

• To run Acer VR Utility for FPV (Experimental) in the future, follow Step #3 to #4.

Controls

• You can also use motion controllers to play the game. Just adjust the key from Settings / Controller

• Acer Mixed Reality Headset support multiple traditional input types, such as gamepad, keyboard and mouse

Advanced Settings

• You can use the headset that replaces your mouse with head

• To change IPD within your headset, you can set your custom IPD via slider control

• For motion controller touchpad movement, you can select your preferred mode

• Mouse acceleration is generally bad for gaming. If you still want to turn on this, you can check the acceleration option

• To change the size of the screen, choose your preferred size and watch the screen change before your eyes

• Use the process function to change the priority class of a process

7. Can I still use the utility if my PC doesn't meet the system requirements?

• If your PC does not meet recommended specs, you won't be blocked from running the utility. However this will impact the performance and quality of the overall experience.

8. How do I find my IPD (Interpupillary distance) and change it?

• You can ask your optometrist to give you an exact measurement of your IPD. To change IPD within your headset, open the Settings app and navigate to Mixed reality > Headset display and move the slider control. You’ll see the changes in real time inyour headset.

9. How to find out which build and version of Windows 10 you have?

• In the Settings window, navigate to System > About. Scroll down a bit and you’ll see the information you’re after.

• 17133 is RS4 (Spring Creator’s Update Version 1803), 16299 is RS3 (Fall Creator’s Update Version 1709)

10. My visuals are choppy, load slowly, or don’t look good.

• Make sure your mixed reality experience refresh rate fit your display refresh rate. If you render at 90fps in HMD, the display still displays images at 60fps. This inconsistency in error magnitude can cause unwanted judder.

• For Frame-rate consistency, you can change your mixed reality experience refresh rate in your Windows 10 Spring Creator’s Update Version 1803 (RS4) devices: Go to Windows Settings -> Mixed reality -> Headset display -> Experience options. Choose change and set your mixed reality experience refresh rate.

Troubleshooting

My games are running slowly

• Confirm that your PC meets the specifications for Acer VR Utility for FPV (Experimental).

• Make sure your PC has the latest graphics drivers: NVIDIA Driver Release 390 and above.

• Make sure you are not selecting the 4K UHD resolution. Using the FULL HD resolution (or below) with this utility.

• Check Task Manager to see what other processes might be running on your PC and consuming resources.

I'm having issues with black screen in my headset

Start with basic troubleshooting:

• Make sure your graphics driver is up-to-date

• Restart the Mixed Reality Portal. Make your way to the cliff house.

• Try launching Acer VR Utility for FPV (Experimental) again.

• Confirm that your headset are working as expected.
