Wolfe Conference Reports 27th Annual CIFST Conference The 27th Annual CIFST Conference will be held May 27 to May 30, 1984 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Vancouver, Bri- tish Columbia. The theme 'Quality' will weave its way throughout the confe- rence. Quality - its importance, con- sumer views, marketing quality at home and abroad and nutritional as- pects will be examined in various forms from keynote addresses to round table discussions, oral presentations and pos- ter sessions. Special interest groups such as dairy, nutrition, engineering and microbiology are planning sessions as well. Twenty nine booths featuring a wide range of food ingredients, ins- trumentation and services will also be featured. Advance registration information complete with registration forms and hotel reservation cards will be mailed to members in March 1984. Requests for additional information can be directed to Barry Morgan, Registration Chair- man, CIFST Conference, 601-1001 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC V6E 2M7. (tel) 604-666-3584. The following events are planned: a students' program featuring a tour of UBC and a Sunday evening buffet in- cludes a symposium on job creation, Canada Manpower Booth, display on Co-op programs and a winery tour. Accommodation has been arranged at the Century Plaza Hotel. 'Quality of Life' is the theme of the companion pro- gram, with Vancouver's springtime beauty and cultural heritage expored through a tour and lunch in Chinatown and a tour of Gastown. The social functions start Sunday, May 27 with the opening mixer atop the Hyatt Regency. The President's Ban- quet of Tuesday night, May 29, will fea- ture a West Coast Indian Potlatch/ Goldrush evening of games, beverages, dinner and dancing. The conference will close Wednesday evening with a Salmon Barbeque at the Vancouver Aquarium, which has been reserved for our exclusive use.
