Product Introduction

Faraday rotator provides non-reciprocal rotation while maintaining linear

polarization. That is, the polarization rotation due to the Faraday rotator is always in

the same relative direction. When the light transmission through the rotator that is face

to the forward direction, it will cause the positive rotation of 45°, or if the light face to

the reverse direction, it will cause the negative rotation of 45°. This is due to the

change in the relative magnetic field direction, positive one way, negative the other.

This then adds to a total of 90°when the light travels in the forward direction and then

the negative direction.

The Faraday rotators CASTECH provided , which the wavelength can reach from

the 355nm to 4500nm that used magneto-optical materials with high Verdet constant

and low absorption. Transmission of Faraday Rotator is achieved typically >98% and

the aperture is up to 25mm. The features of rotators are having high Damage

Threshold*, high power handling and accurate rotation of 45°±0.5°. CASTECH's

customized Faraday rotators are available.

Product Introduction

Free space isolator according to its physical principles that can be divided into two

categories which are polarization dependent isolator and polarization independent

isolator.

The polarization dependent isolator, or Faraday isolator consists of three different

parts which are input polarizer (polarized vertically), Faraday rotator, and output

polarizer, called an analyser (polarized at 45°).

The polarization independent isolator consists of three main parts, which are input

birefringent beam displacer, Faraday rotator, 1/2 wave plate or an output birefringent

beam displacer. Usually the isolator used in the optical fiber laser system and it can

maintain the stability of optical system effectively.

The Free space isolators CASTECH provided , which the wavelength can reach

from the 355nm to 4500nm with simple and reliable mechanical structure, which used

high quality of crystals and optical components. CASTECH's Free space isolators have

peak isolation of 45dB, max transmission above 95%, and aperture up to 20mm.

Product Introduction

Fiber-Free Space Isolators can be divided into two categories according to its

output mode: expanded-beam isolator and non-expanded-beam isolator.

The non-expanded-beam isolator consists of birefringent crystal, a Faraday rotator,

one 1/2 wave plate or a polarizer and collimator. Usually used in optical fiber laser

system, it can effectively maintain the stability of optical system.

The expanded-beam isolator consists of some major components of a collimator, a

birefringent crystal, a Faraday rotator, a wave plate or an optical rotating mirror and a

beam expanding mirror. The output spot has a large spot diameter and a small divergence

angle.

CASTECH created the Fiber-Free Space isolators, which adopted the high-quality

crystals and optical components with the precision beam expander sets, the peak

isolation of single-stage series can reach more than 35dB, and the peak isolation of dual-

stage series can reach more than 45dB, insertion loss ≤ 0.4dB. Its biggest feature is that

the product has no thermal lens effect when used at high power.CASTECH can

customize the Fiber-Free Space isolators according to customer needs.

Product Introduction In-line isolator can be divided into two categories according to the fiber types:

non-polarization-maintaining isolator and polarization-maintaining isolator.

The non-polarization-maintaining isolator consists of Birefringent crystal, a

Faraday rotator, a 1/2 wave plate or a polarizer , and a pair of collimators. Usually the

isolator used in the optical fiber laser system and it can maintain the stability of optical

system effectively.

The polarization-maintaining isolator is a laser device that can achieve the

transmission of linear polarization steadily and remain the polarization state

unchanged. It consists of major components of an input polarizer, a Faraday rotator, a

1/2 wave plate or a polarizer, an output polarizer, and a pair of collimators. In some

special applications, this type of isolator maintains the stability of the system‘s

polarization state. CASTECH's in-line isolators have an isolation of more than 30dB,

an insertion loss of less than 1.00dB, and an operating wavelength range of 850-

2000nm. The form of connection of the fiber tail can be adopted by FC/PC or bare

fiber. CASTECH can customize the in-line isolator according to customer needs.

Product Introduction The circulator is a multi-port device, and light can only propagate in a specific

direction. For example, if the signal is input from port 1, it will be output from port 2.If

the signal is input from port 2, it will be output from port 3, and output from other ports

will be very costly. Circulator according to its physical principles can be divided into non-

polarization-maintaining circulator and polarization-maintaining circulator.

The non-polarization-maintaining circulator is an irreversible one-way three-port

device, which consists of three birefringent beam displacers, polarization elements, a

Faraday rotator, 1/2 wave plate and three collimators. Polarization-independent optical

The polarization-maintaining optical circulator consists of an input polarizer, a

Product Introduction The acousto-optic Q-switch (AOQS) is a special modulator that designed for

inside laser cavities. This type of product can minimize the insert loss and

supporting of high Damage Threshold*. It can diffract a portion of the laser flux

out from the cavity (Raman Nath or Bragg regime) when it applied the RF signal .

This increases the cavity losses and prevents oscillation. When the RF signal is

switched off, the cavity losses decrease rapidly and it will produce the evolves of

intense laser pulse. Our product equipped some special qualities such as the ultra-

low loss (up to 99.6%), high switching speeds, and premium pulse-to-pulse

stability.

CASTECH's AO Q-switch, which the wavelength can reach from the 355nm to

2000nm that used utilize materials with high optical power handling such as fused

silica or crystal quartz. In order to maintain high efficiency with these materials,

higher RF powers are necessary and therefore require adequate conduction or water

cooling. CASTECH's customized AO Q-switch are available.

Product Introduction Acousto-optic modulators (AOM) can be used like a shutter (cycling light

on and off at a set frequency), or as a variable attenuator (controlling the

intensity of transmitted light dynamically). This product only exist 1st order

diffracted light under the interaction of Bragg diffraction.

According to the types of structure, CASTECH's acousto-optic modulators

can be divided into: free-space AOM and fiber-coupled AOM. CASTECH's

modulator optimizes the high laser Damage Threshold*. The acousto-optic

medium Damage Threshold* is >1GW/cm2. The form of connection of the

fiber-coupled AOM fiber termination can be adopted by the FC/PC or bare fiber,

it provides the aspects of requirements of rise time, modulation rate and

Product Introduction The Acousto-Optic Frequency Shifter (AOFS) with RF driver is used to

modify the frequency of the optical beam. Due to the Doppler shift, the frequency

shift of 1st order diffracted light (variation quantity of wavelength) equals to the

frequency of acoustic (wavelength) after the AO frequency shifters. If the incident

direction of acoustic wave and optical wave are the same, the laser frequency shifts

will be the positive value, anyway if the incident direction are opposite, the value

of the laser frequency shifts will be the negative value.

Applications such as interference-based optical techniques require a high

extinction ratio between the diffracted and undiffracted beam; This can be achieved

with a high-quality optical finish to minimize optical scatter.

CASTECH offers standard products with frequency shifts of 73 MHz. In

addition,CASTECH provides the services of customize for center frequency and

the value of frequency shifts.

Product Introduction Acousto-optic deflectors (AODF) are based on the deflection of light by a

propagating acoustic wave in an optical isotropic medium. Incident light is

deflected in one or more directions by periodic variations in the refractive index

produced by the propagating ultrasound wave. AODF offers precise angular control

of an optical beam using RF drive frequency tuning.

CASTECH's AODF uses TeO2 crystal as the acousto-optic medium. CASTECH

promised the high quality of crystal due to the advanced growth and polishing

process and it makes the deflectors exists the low insertion loss and high Damage

Threshold*. In the meanwhile, we provide full scan angle diffraction efficiency and

power flux consistency. CASTECH can customize the product of AODF according

Product Introduction RF driver is designed for Acousto-Optic Devices. It can outputs the RF power

signal of fixed or variable-frequency. Through different modulated signals it can

produce the same, opposite or specific waveform to satisfied the optical devices to

accomplish the functions in different applications.

CASTECH's TRF drive power can be used with Acousto-Optic Devices. The

radio frequency (RF) can be 27MHz, 40.68MHz, 68MHz, 80MH and other higher

Product Introduction

Pockels cells is a devices that used the Pockels effect by apply the

voltage on electro-optic crystal to change the polarization of incident light.

The Pockels effect, which includes the transverse and longitudinal Pockels

effect. In the case of the transverse Pockels effect the direction of the light is

perpendicular to the direction of electric field, but under the longitudinal

Pockels effect, they are parallel to each other. BBO Pockels Cells created by

use the transverse Pockels effect, it can reduce the voltage by changing the

ratio of BBO's width to length. We offer BBO Pockels cells with different CA

and length to choose from. Due to the low piezoelectric response and high

Damage Threshold*s of BBO, CASTECH's BBO Pockels cells supported the

application environment at 1MHz.

Product Introduction

Pockels Cells is an optical devices for use to changing the polarization

state of light, inside of this product that equipped with the electro-optic

crystals (e.g KD*P). If applied the voltage to the Pockels Cells, when the laser

passing through the Pockels Cells, it will change the polarization direction of

the emergent light. The Pockels Cells can be used as a fast electro-optics

switch when the Pockels Cells used with the polarization element.

CASTECH provides the complete KD*P Pockels Cells range for our

customers. According to the shapes, it can be classified into two different

types of Pockels Cells, which are cylindrical (series DPC-R) and the cubic

(series DPC-S). The electrode connection for the DRC-R series can be the

connection of wires or insert pin. In the meanwhile, CASTECH provides the

integrated pre-adjusted Brewster polarizer, wave plate or ceramic plate.

CASTECH provides the Pockels Cells are all exists the AR coats windows,

under the promised of high transmittance is to guarantee the performance and

increases the lifetime for this product.

Product Introduction Pockels Cells Driver is an electricity devices which applied with the

Pockels Cells, it has the internal integration consists of high voltage power

supply and drive circuit. When the internal of the Pockels Cells driver

generated the frequency signal or the external applied the frequency signal, it

will produce the high voltage signal of relative frequency. When the laser

passing through the Pockels Cells, the change of the polarization direction of

the light is due to the Pockels Cells Driver applied the voltage to the Pockels

Cells. CASTECH‘s Pockels Cells Driver is suitable for the KD*P Pockels

Cells which is under the conditions of low repetition frequency and the BBO

Pockels Cells which under the conditions of high repetition frequency as well

as the pulse picker.

CASTECH created Pockels Cells Driver which according to the waveform

of outputs mode can be classified into three categories: positive, negative, and

Product Introduction Fiber collimator is a major passive device, it is a significant component

while forming laser devices such as isolators and circulators, this kind of

devices that made by precisely aligned of optical fiber tips and focusing lens.

It collimates beam from fiber, or couples collimated beams into fiber.

According to the output mode of Optical switches, it can be classified

into two categories: Non-expanded and expanded collimator.

Non-expanded collimator consists of fiber head and focusing lens, which

for beam collimate or coupling.

Product Introduction F-Theta lenses are commonly used in laser marking, engraving, and

cutting systems. The functions of F-Theta Lens is to provide a flat field for

the image plane which is in the scanning system. The scan radial image

height equals to focal length of the lens multiplied by the angle of the chief

ray makes in the object space. The formula as follow: 2y'=EFL×2θ×π

/180 where 2y' is the scan length or diagonal, EFL is the focal length of the

scan lens, 2θ is overall scan angle.

two categories: telecentric and non-telecentric. It combines the high-quality

Product Introduction Optical attenuator is an optical device which can be used in continuously change

the output power of laser. The device consists of a wave plate (or an electro-optical

crystal) and a polarizer. The polarization of incident light is modulated by wave plate

(or an electro-optical crystal) and then incident on the polarizer. The polarizer will

divide the incident light into two beams, to accomplish the target of changing the

transmitted light power which is by changing the ratio of the two beams. Optical

attenuators are widely used in various fields such as the precision laser processing,

laser detection, sensing and others. They also have unique advantages in ultra-fast

and ultra-short pulse laser systems.

CASTECH provides the attenuator can be classified into two types: wave plate

modulation and electro-optic modulation. Wave plate modulation is to control the

ratio of P and s light through polarizer by controlling the rotation angle of 1/2 wave

plate. This kind of product has compact structure and strong adaptability. The

electro-optic modulation Attenuator 's maximum speed of the power regulation can

reach the nanoseconds, also it can be used as high speed light switches. The polarizer

of these two products can choose the polarization splitter prism or Brewster window.

In the meanwhile, there has the electric and manual control schemes can be selected.

Users can choose the appropriate product type according to the use requirements.
