1. Outline
This manual describes the specifications of the absolute position detection system using the MP scale
(Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) used for the digital servo amplifier MR-SI 1 and MRS12 for the MELDAS- Series NC. This absolute position detection system detects the absolute position with a combination of the battery-back up type motor end absolute position detector and the offset function of the MP scale detection system. Thus, by executing zero point initialization once when the machine is installed,
future zero point return when the power is turned ON is not required, and operations can be restored
faster when there is a power failure or fault.
The features of this system include the following:
(1) Absolute position detection in resolution (lpm for 2000 division) units is possible in the entire MP scale installation range.
(2) The absolute position is detected with the MP scale installed on the machine end, so a closed loop absolute position detection system can be configured easily.
(3) By using OAER5KC for the motor end detector, the absolute position data is backed up by the
capacitor in the encoder, and thus, the absolute position data is protected for a specified time in the even that the cable breaks or the connector is disconnected, etc.
As limits, this system detects the absolute position with a combination of the motor end detector, MP scale and A/D converter, so if an error of k0.5mm or more occurs between each detector data duo
to machine backlash or pitch errors, etc., the absolute position will not be detected. Thus, make sure that the ‘error on the machine side is within +-0.5mm.
