W EEK OF ENTHUSIASM Pakistan K angaroo Contest This week

The Contest "Math Kangaroo" originated in France in 1991 and quickly became very popular among students all over Europe. Several years later the association "International Kangaroo Mathematics Contest" was founded and it now organizes the event world wide. The contest's main purpose is to promote mathematical thinking and stimulate an interest in math by providing students with an opportunity to compare their abilities against the abilities of other students from different countries around the world. In the past several years the geography of the participating countries has been extended outside Europe to USA, Paraguay, Mexico, Canada, etc. In 2006 almost 4,000,000 students from 41 countries played the game world-wide. The world "Kangaroo" center, which coordinates the competition in the various countries, was founded in 1994 in Paris. In Pakistan, the competition was first organized in 2005 by the Pakistan kangaroo Commission.

Kangaroo Contest is a source of intellectual encouragement for all and a challenge for the genius. We make an effort to give Pakistani children confidence in their ability for comprehending mathematics. Help them to understand how mathematics applies in nature's laws and humans activities. Develop their ability to derive pleasure and satisfaction through intellectual life. Show that mathematical education is significant in any part of the world.

General Information

Registration includes Rs.500.00 fee per student to cover the costs of organizing the contest.

We encourage participation of maximum students from public & private schools. For a participating School it is unlawful to refuse participation to any student who is willing to pay.

All schools and colleges in Pakistan are welcome to host Math Kangaroo contest by registering their students in the contest.

The competition questions are selected by International Committee that is composed by Math Kangaroo representatives from all participating countries who meet at an annual conference each fall, every time in a different country. Students solve the same problems worldwide.

Students participate at their grade level or at a higher level.

The competition has a form of a multiple choice test.

All participating students receive a certificate.
