This Advent season we are offering daily meditation booklets from The Word Among Us entitled ‘Hail, Full of Grace’. Look for these special booklets on the tables and pick one up to take home with you to enjoy and reflect on over the coming weeks as we journey through Advent.

St. Mark’s Fourth Annual Christmas Celebration of Love  The ‘Celebration of Love’ Christmas dinner will be held on Saturday, December 19th. This is a wonderful night for close to 200 less fortunate adults and children of Aylmer. In previous years some of the participants have told us that this was their best Christmas celebration ever!! Our Advent Giving Tree During Advent, we are invited to make crooked paths straight … to think of people who have less than we do. The Giving Tree is our attempt to reach out to those in need. The items collected will be given out to the guests at the Christmas dinner. We will be collecting gift cards for families and teens, and gifts for children twelve and under. How it works: The ornaments on the tree were made by our Youth Group. The label on the back of each ornament will state what is needed. Please purchase the item listed on the ornament and place it under the giving tree by December 13, to assist organizers with their preparation prior to the dinner. Thank you for putting smiles on so many faces! If you need more information, please contact Rhoda Scott at (819) 684-1235.    Let’s share God’s love and reach out to those in our community and make it a joyful Christmas for everyone. Youth Group Spaghetti Fundraising Dinner The St. Mark's Youth Group will be hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday, December 12th at 6:00 p.m. downstairs in the Church Hall. Dinner plate cost will be $7.00 per person with proceeds going to the Youth Group. There will also be deserts available for purchase for those who have a sweet tooth!! So that we may prepare the correct amount of food, please sign up on the "Spaghetti dinner" sheets that are available throughout the church if you intend on coming. All are welcome!

Youth retreat at St. Mark’s with NET ministries, January 23 – register now! St. Mark’s parish in Aylmer is planning a dynamic youth retreat for Confirmation candidates and other youth between Grades 7-10 (Secondaire 1-4), with the help of NET ministries. NET is a Catholic Youth Movement of young adult missionaries, bringing youth to Christ across Canada. NET trains and sends out teams of young adults to schools and parishes conducting retreats, implementing youth ministry and equipping musicians for evangelization. We are truly blessed to have them lead this retreat at St. Mark’s this year! If you are between 13-16 years old, please consider coming to this retreat! Please share the invitation with your friends also – these retreats are always a lot of fun!! To help us in the planning of this event, please register on-line at stmarksaylmer.ca . Advent Penitential Service, Tuesday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m. Without a deeper awareness of the tender mercy of our God, and an acknowledgement of the forgiveness of our sins, we cannot be the kind of people God wants us to be. That is the focus of our communal Advent penitential service, Tuesday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m. This service prepares us to celebrate the saving mystery of God’s forgiveness in a more personal way in individual confession. Priests will be available for individual reconciliation immediately following. Poinsettias for our Church’s Christmas Decoration The Christmas Season is a time when the deceased who have been part of our lives are on our minds and especially in our hearts. We may want to give tangible expression by bringing a poinsettia to the church for Christmas, the Feast of God’s love for all the living and the dead. You can start bringing the Poinsettias in on Saturday, December 19.

The Jubilee Year of Mercy The Jubilee Year of Mercy will be launched in our Diocese on Saturday, December 12 at 7pm. That evening, during the celebration of Mass, Archbishop Durocher will bless the door that has been designated as the Holy Door for the year. Pope Francis has asked that such a door be identified in each cathedral of the world to serve as a symbol of mercy for the whole year, and that it be inaugurated on the third Sunday of Advent. All the faithful of the Diocese are invited to

this celebration to launch this year of grace so desired by our Holy Father. It will certainly be for our Diocesan Church a time of renewal. † Paul-André Durocher, Archbishop of Gatineau

Employment Opportunity We are looking for a dynamic individual to work 3 to 4 days a week as the Parish Administrative Assistance. See stmarksaylmer.ca/jobs for details. Applications must be received by Monday, December 21st.

2016 Church Envelopes Sets Now Available We are taking this occasion to update our parish records and invite you to complete the green forms and return in the collection basket or email into to the church. You will notice that we have a new supplier this year and users should take note that their box number may have changed from previous years. The new envelopes’ size makes it easy for both parishioners and money counters as cheques and bills do not need to be folded. As always, it is a great time saver for our volunteer money counters if you could write the amount of your contribution on the envelope each week. Thanks for your help and generosity! New Sunday Missals and the Missals for Young Catholics These new 2015-16 missals may be found on the entry tables of the church. We are pleased to offer you them at a nominal cost as follows: Living with Christ Sunday Missals ($5) and Missals for Young Catholics ($8). Advent and Christmas Season 2015 – Mark your calendars! As we journey through the Advent season toward Christmas our calendars quickly fill up with events and social activities.
