GENERAL INFORMATION

Course DescriptionThe Mayo Clinic Acute Care Psychiatry Clinical Review is a very fast-paced review of clinical assessment and treatment of acute psychiatric problems in all age groups across all care settings. The course utilizes brief lectures, extensive opportunities for Q and A, high levels of faculty interaction, and uses simulated patient video case examples to improve your educational experience. The course is stimulating and enjoyable – 100% of participants the past three years have rated the course as a positive learning experience. This year we will build on our use of video case examples, expand presentation of Clinical Pearls using audience response, and have added more breakout sessions on Thursday and Friday.

Course Learning ObjectivesUpon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:• Analyze and apply strategies for the treatment of unipolar depression • Describe evidence-based options for the treatment of bipolar depression • Describe strategies for assessment and intervention in those at risk for suicide
