There isn’t that much happening in the Windows phone world in terms of new devices. So this month we decided to take a look at the data from a couple of different angles.

Additionally, we decided not to cover specific markets in this edition. However, it is time to review what’s going on with the desktop side of Windows 10 hardware.

Data Source

This report is based on data collected from around 5,000 Windows apps runningAdDuplex SDK v.2 (and higher). The raw data analyzed was collected over the day ofJune 21st, 2016 (UTC time) unless otherwise stated.

We have made every attempt to consolidate different reported model names undertheir canonical retail model names, but it is possible that some of the rare model namevariations were not accounted for.

AdDuplex is the largest cross-promotion network for Windows apps and games empowering developers and publishers to promote their apps for free by helping each other. AdDuplex was established in January 2011 in Vilnius, Lithuania. As of June 2016, more than 10,000 apps actively use AdDuplex to gain more visibility.

Lumia 535 is back on top of the worldwide chart after a month of slipping back to second.

Lumia 640 has gained 0.4%, but not enough to pass its predecessor at number 3.

Other than that the global list looks pretty much identically to what we’ve seen last month.

Not surprisingly not much has changed in the manufacturer chart either. Minor changes here and there.

One notable change is BLU surpassing Huawei, but the margin is pretty slim.

OS Versions – Worldwide June 21st, AdDuplex

Windows 10 has gained only 0.5% of the OS market share in the last month.

This tells us that almost everyone who actively wanted to upgrade their older phone already did so. And, since it doesn’t look like Microsoft is planning to push the update on mobile the same way they did on the desktop, it’s hard to expect the status quo to change in the coming months.

Let’s take a look at phones running Windows 10 Mobile.

As you can see the top 2 spots are occupied by upgraded Windows Phone 8.1 devices. The first “native” Windows 10 is Lumia 550 at #3, with Lumia 950 at #5, 650 at #7 and 950 XL at #9.

There are 3x as many Lumia 550s in the wild as there are 950 XLs.

When it comes to Windows 10 Mobile Microsoft dominates the manufacturer chart even more.

The only other manufacturer to cross 0.5% mark is Alcatel.

Note: this chart includes both “native” Windows 10 phones as well as upgrades.

Windows 10 Desktop ManufacturersJune 21st, AdDuplex

Let’s take a look at what’s happening on the desktop/tablet side.

HP is leading the charge in the number of PCs running Windows 10. And the lead is pretty impressive – more than 10% more HPs than Dells.

Lenovo is third, followed by Asus and Acer with almost equal shares.

Microsoft may have all the mindshare with Surface Pro and Surface Book, but it’s only seventh in terms of usage.

Finally, let’s take a look at Surface devices running Windows 10.

Despite not being “native” to Windows 10, Surface Pro 3 is leading the charge with its younger sibling pretty close in the second spot.

Looking at the latest generation of Surfaces, we are quite surprised with Pro 4 outnumbering Surface Book almost 9-to-1. This is in part due to more limited worldwide availability of the Surface Book, but it looks like it couldn’t be just that.
