Nylon Webbing Lanyards CONTD
Adjustable Length Lanyard
•f >fclP TMade of 1" (25 mm) wide orange-nylon webbing that hasbeen resin-impregnated for greater durability. Has Klein-Lok8
snap hooks with 1 1 / 1 6 " (17 mm) throat opening on each end.Lengths are adjustable from 6-1/2' to 10' (2 to 3 m).Characteristics and applications are the same as describedfor fixed-length nylon-web lanyards.
Cat. No. Length87433 Adjustable from 6-1/2' to 10' (2 to 3 m).
On Klein deceleration units, a red warning label stitched to theoverlapped nylon webbing inside the protective breakawayjacket will identify a used lanyard and direct the disposal ofthe unit.
NOTE: Special-length lanyards are available and can beordered through your authorized Klein distributor.
A WARNING A deceleration unit subjected to an im-pact load must be taken out of service immediately.
A WARNING OSHA requires that all personal OPEequipment must be taken out of service immediately afterbeing subjected to a fall impact.
A WARNING Snaps hooks should only be attached toan approved fall-arrest anchorage capable of supporting5,000 Ibs. (22.2 kN) per each attached worker.
Deceleration Units .The deceleration unit on these fall-arrest
connecting devices consists of overlapped nylonwebbing heavily cross-stitched together with nylonthread and sewn into a protective break-away jacket. Most of the fall-arrest impact is absorbed byprogressive tearing away of the nylon stitching. Thefully-released stitching extends original length of thelanyard by a total of 3.5 ft (1 m). Rebound is virtuallyeliminated.
Available as listed in detail in this section. Rope orcable lanyards are permanently fixed to decelerationdevice. Also available without lanyard, with Klein-Lok3
snap hook and D-ring only. All Deceleration units areCSA certified.

Aircraft-Cable LanyardVinyl-coated flexible steel cable (also referred to
as aircraft cable) lanyards are equipped with apermanently attached Klein-Lok® snap hook ateach end and are available in fixed lengths. Used inpositioning, suspension and retrieval applications, when combined with a deceleration unit, thesecable lanyards can become part of a fall-arrestsystem. Aircraft cable must NEVER be usedaround electrical lines or energized equipment.Because of their superior resistance to hostileenvironments, these lanyards are recommendedfor use around hazards such as open flame, rough-edged structural members and welding splatter. It will not resist, however, the flame of a torch.
Aircraft-Cable Lanyard
This 7/32" (6 mm) diameter aircraft-cable lanyard is vinylcovered, and has a total diameter of 9/32" (7 mm). HasKlein-Lok® snap hook with 1 1 / 1 6 " (17 mm) throat open-ing on each end. Used primarily by welders and/or as apositioning device in work areas where there are sharpedges. Because aircraft cable has virtually no elasticity, these lanyards should NOT be used for fall-arrest with-out a shock-absorbing device. It is also NOT to be usedaround energized equipment. If any possibility for a free-fall exists, a shock-absorbing device such as a decelera-tion unit, Cat. No. 87409, must be used with these lan-yards; or use a Klein deceleration unit, Cat. No. 87411 .Cat. No. Length87414 5 ' ( 1 . 5 m )87415 6 ' (1 .8m)
A WARNING Do NOT use aircraft-cable lanyards nearenergized equipment.
A WARNING Never use an aircraft-cable lanyard byitself for fall protection. Always use a deceleration unitwith aircraft cable.
A WARNING Do not rely on the feel or sound of asnap hook engaging. Always visually check for properengagement of the snap hook.

Nylon Webbing LanyardsThese orange-nylon webbing lanyards are offered
in fixed and adjustable lengths, and are equippedwith a permanently attached Klein-Lok® snap hookat each end. The nylon webbing has been resin-impregnated for added durability and excellentabrasion resistance and are especially good forpositioning purposes. Also well-suited in situationswhere the worker is often turning or moving aroundsince webbing will not reverse-twist (hockle). Adeceleration unit can be added to a nylon weblanyard to reduce impact forces in the event of afall. Do not use these lanyards around open flame, steam lines, near welding splatter or near otherhigh-temperature areas since nylon begins toweaken at 300°F (149°C).

Fixed-Length Lanyards
Jf ̂ w TThese lanyards are made of 1" (25 mm) wide orange-nylonwebbing that has been resin-impregnated for greaterdurability. They have a Klein-Lok8 snap hook with 1 1 / 1 6 " (17mm) throat opening on each end. They also offer excellentabrasion resistance. Nylon-web lanyards are ideal forpositioning purposes, but because they are not as elastic asnylon-filament rope, they are suitable only for limited fall-arrest purposes. CSA certified.

A WARNING When working with a lanyard, keep theamount of slack between the anchorage and the fall-arrestbelt or harness at an absolute minimum to reduce impactforce in the event of a fall.
