2. Our Training Philosophy

All training sessions are based on the ADSE / CoG developed modules with dedicated workshops during

the day. These workshops will address the theory based on actual situations in the aviation industry and

can be fine-tuned based on the working environment of the participants. For each seminar target

audiences are mentioned.

ADSE training programs are based on an interactive philosophy, e.g. by means of practical working cases

and discussion. Depending on the type of training, a certain number and mix of participants with

different backgrounds is benefical to maximise the benefit of the training and use the crossover of

experience of each individual.

All training programs consist of:

Training material (electronic) with basic program and cases / workshops

Presentations from a laptop with the use of a beamer

Small workshops based on practical use of the theory

A certificate of attendance for each attendent

For all seminars the following conditions apply:

Location: Reinach, Switzerland or Hoofddorp, the Netherlands

Start of the seminar is at 08.30 with an expected closure around 17.30

All seminars include drinks during the breaks and a light lunch

3. Our location

The seminars are organised at our offices in Reinach, Switzerland and Hoofddorp, the Netherlands.

seminar can also be given in-company on location. All details of each seminar including exact dates are

given in Section 6 “Detailed Course Description”.

5. Your ADSE / CoG Trainers

Our experienced team of trainers is very much capable to perform the seminars and workshops. They all

have large experience in the field of aviation, either by being active within a wide range of organisations

within the aviation industries, as consultants and trainers. They all are recognized and valued trainers in

their field based upon their knowledge, experience, skills and educational skills. A brief description of

the knowledge and experience of four of our trainers is given below. Additionally ADSE has other

trainers available who can perform these seminars.

Margriet Bredewold MSc (Co-Guard). Margriet works independently as a trainer and consultant in Human Factors, Safety management and Organisational Development. She holds a MSc. degree in sociology, specializing in risk, risk perception and behavior and has been active in aviation for over ten years. Based in Reinach, Switzerland, she uses her experience, education and expertise to train and support airlines, business and rotor-wings operators, maintenance - and training organisations at all levels and across Europe.

Pieter Ruitenberg (ADSE). Pieter has his roots in Amsterdam where he was born in 1951. He graduated for mechanical engineering and as interior architect. Joined the aircraft industry with Fokker Aircraft where he was involved in the airline, corporate and utility interior design up to 1992 when he was appointed project leader payload systems for the Fokker 70 / Fokker 100. Joined ADSE from the start in 1996 and was appointed at various management positions. Thru the past 21 years he helped both EASA and the industry in establishing new regulations and assisting the industry in the creation of EASA approved organisations. He was the secretary of the Cabin Safety Steering Group for many years and was an EASA recognized Part 21 and cabin

safety expert up to his retirement in 2017. As such he assisted in complex product certification processes of new aircraft designs and has many years of experience in performing seminars all over the world.

Bastiaan Out (ADSE). Bastiaan has an aerospace master in Structural Integrity and started his career at Fokker Aerostructures in 2000, implementing non-destructive testing in the new metal bonding plant for the A380 fuselage panels. After working as a Manufacturing Engineer, he became an adhesive bonding expert through his job at the Adhesion Institute, a commercial subsidiary of Delft University of Technology. Working since 2012 at ADSE Switzerland, he has supported Design Organisations (office of airworthiness) in the following aerospace fields and functions: fire protection, certification lead (VIP interiors, completions), validation lead, electrical systems, Operational Suitability Data, fatigue analyses (metal & composite), creation of manufacturing specifications and work instructions for first and second tier supplier, Cabin Walkthrough / Zonal Inspections, DO/PO/MO expositions and approval support, significant changes to DO, AS9100 Lead Auditor, etc.

Rik van Zwol MSc (ADSE). Rik has his professional roots in military aviation. Since 1978 he builds his on-hand experience in aircraft maintenance, logistics and design and maintenance engineering. In 2000 he was co-tasked by the Minister of Defense to establish a Military Aviation Authority (MAA), based upon the EASA philosophy and parts. After the achievement of this goal he worked for over 5 years as the airworthiness authority within the MAA, responsible for the oversight and enforcement of all initial- and continued airworthiness requirements. In 2008, he was awarded by the International Federation of Airworthiness with the Whittle Safety Award for this breaking work within the military environment. Since his retirement from the services in 2010, he works at ADSE as the Team Leader ‘ Certification’. With his team, he supports civil and military organisations willing to obtain aviation approvals to become active or remain active in civil or military aviation or requiring certification of their products. Throughout his career, training has become a second nature.

6. Detailed Course Description

Code 101: Certification Verification Engineer (CVE) Seminar

Overview. A CVE is an independent person in/of the Part 21 organisation responsible for the approval of

demonstrated compliance with processes, technical designs and environmental protection requirements.

A CVE fulfils an important safety role in aircraft design, manufacturing, maintenance and ultimately

operation, a role that should be well understood within any Part 21 organisation.

In this seminar we focus initially on the regulations and the setup of processes and the role of the CVE

within. What are the responsibilities of a CVE, what does ‘independence’ mean in your organisation and

what are challenges and pitfalls often seen in practice? After this workshop an organisation and the CVE

are ready to put everything in place efficiently and successfully.

Target audience. More or less experienced CVE’s, CVE’s to be, engineers and others (with an interest) in

the P21 organisation.

Program: The seminar addresses the following topics:

EASA & International regulations

Role and Responsibilities of the CVE

Part 21 certification process introduction

Performing the certification process flow and requirements for engineering

Performing the certification process flow and requirements for production

Testing & Conformity statement requirements

Selection of requirements

Means of compliance selection

Independent position

From Compliance to Performance: changes in EASA approach

Duration: 3 days

Dates and location: The seminar will be organised twice in 2017 at the following dates:

Tuesday March 14 thru Thursday March 16, 2017. Location: Reinach, Switzerland.

Tuesday June 6 thru Thursday June 8, 2017. Location: Hoofddorp, the Netherlands.

TRAINING PROGRAM 2017

Code 102: Certification Verification Engineer (CVE) Advanced Seminar

Overview. All processes within the Part 21 are in place and compliance has been demonstrated. However,

the performance of our organisation can be improved, the applicable (EASA) requirements are not always

clear to interpret and inefficiencies and errors seem to appear at the final stages of important projects.

Commercial, financial and time pressures put enormous strain on the engineers and CVE’s, roles and

responsibilities become less clear and errors and workarounds appear. CVE’s often find themselves in

dilemma or conflict between the variety of pressures that exist in every organisation. How can we use the

regulation to improve our role as a valuable asset in the chain and what skills can we apply to perform

more successfully as an operation as well as an individual? Based on practice, we use case studies and

role plays throughout the whole workshop.

Target audience: The seminar is intended for Certification Verification Engineers and staff assigned to

certification.

Program: The seminar addresses the following topics:

Introduction Certification Specifications

Introduction AMC & GM of Certification Specifications

Selection of applicable requirements

Determine means of compliance showing

From Compliance to Performance: changes in EASA approach

Error management in design processes

Workshops on the use and selection of requirements (workshop will be based on a mix of the actual

work of the participants in their companies)

Duration: 3 days

Dates and location: The seminar will be organised in 2017 at the following date:
