Belize is home to some of the greatest adventures, and while Naїa Resort and Spa is adventure enough for many visitors, for those wishing to explore a little more we have a wide range of tours and activities to suit everybody, no matter the age or the interest. LAND SEA CULTURE

Land

Maya Sky Canopy Tour Zipline & River TubingEnjoy the adrenaline rush of zip-lining through the rainforest canopy. Then cool off river tubing in the South Stann Creek River. This tour is close by and you’ll be on site in an hour. Since you leave at 8am, we serve snacks of fruit and muffins, and bring you back to Naia in time for lunch at 1:30pm.

Intensity: Moderate

Bocawina Bird Watching & WaterfallsAt the Mayflower Bocawina National Park you will walk the beautifully manicured grounds between large old trees, and up paths leading into the surrounding rainforest where you will have numerous opportunities for sightings of the exotic birds of Belize. Hike up easy to moderate trails and bird watch on the way to stunning waterfalls, where you can cool off in the mountain spring water of the falls.

Bocawina Zipline & WaterfallsVisit the Mayflower Bocawina National Park and enjoy the longest zip-line in Belize, which takes you through the canopy of our virgin rainforests. Hike up easy to moderate trails and bird watch on the way to stunning waterfalls, where you can cool off in the mountain spring water of the falls.

Intensity: Easy to rigorous

Cockscomb Jaguar PreservePass by the Maya Center Village before driving into the Cockscomb Basin, home to a well-studied and healthy population of jaguars. As they are nocturnal and very elusive, it is unlikely that you will see one. However, there are a number of other rainforest animals and birds to look out for. Enjoy a large menu of lush hiking trails, and a relaxing tube ride down the South Stann Creek River.

Intensity: Easy to moderate

Monkey River & Manatee WatchTake a boat ride through the lagoon and mangrove forests, where you have the opportunity to observe manatees and dolphins. At Monkey River Village, where the river meets the sea, your boat heads up the river. During this journey through this coastline tropical forest, you might see howler monkeys, iguanas, the great keel-billed toucan, crocodiles, and other fascinating wildlife species.

Lagoon Kayaking & Wildlife WatchEnjoy peaceful paddling in the unique mangrove habitat of the Placencia Lagoon while your guide will share fascinating details about mangrove forest ecology as he takes you into the mangrove forest canopy. Your guide will help you spot various birds both native and migrant, reptiles in the way of iguanas, and morelet’s crocodiles. Spotting manatees and dolphins is always an exciting highlight, and there are those well-camouflaged critters that your guide will know where to find. This tour is done in the early morning for the best opportunity of sightings as all wildlife is usually on the move to feed during those hours. However, if you’d like to spend a few hours in the afternoon or evening, we’d be happy to accommodate you for those times.

Sea

Glovers Reef Atoll Snorkeling Also a marine reserve, this is the 2nd largest and most southern of the 3 Belizean atolls set outside the barrier reef. Snorkel the pristine coral heads and reef formations both on the inside of the atoll and on the outside of its fringing reef. Apart from all the other players of turtles, sharks and rays, you should be on the lookout for the red-lipped batfish. A very unusually shaped bottom dweller that can easily be overlooked, except for its red lips.

Laughing Bird Caye SnorkelingThis is a pristine faroe reef with deep channels on either side, and is also a famous southern marine park. Here coral pinnacles rise from the bottom inside the main barrier reef creating a haven for hosts of brilliantly colored Caribbean reef species. Apart from the possibility of observing turtles and rays going by, you might want to look at the macro view. Many colorful anemones are home to delicate cleaner shrimp and crabs, and at the right time of year, you can find startlingly beautiful bluebell tunicates.

Silk Cayes SnorkelingThese twotiny cayes sitting just inside the barrier reef offer wonderful snorkeling around their perimeter in this marine park. Nearby is a location called “shark, ray and turtle alley”, where you can snorkel up close with Nurse Sharks, large Loggerhead Turtles, Eagle Rays, Stingrays, and Whip Tail Rays.

South Water Caye Private Snorkeling TripOur 28-ft boat leaves from our dock on this private trip. Set in the largest marine reserve in Belize, South Water Caye is one of the prettiest islands you’ll find along the barrier reef to the northeast of Placencia. Large stands of Elkhorn coral grow just outside the reef, and the barrier reef channels there are rich with activity from Eagle Rays, Whip Tail Rays, Jacks, Groupers, and a dazzling array of colourful reef fish. Order your own lunch and special beverages from the resort. Complimentary fruit and refreshments provided.

Full Day Private Snorkeling TripOur 28-ft boat leaves from our dock on this private trip that takes you to 3 beautiful inner faroe reef locations nearby for a full day of snorkeling. Visit one of the cayes and enjoy lunch at the restaurant there, or order your own lunch from the resort before you go. Make the day as long or short as you’d like it. Complimentary fruit and refreshments provided.

Ranguana Caye SnorkelingThis beautiful caye is set just inside the barrier reef and has a lot more than snorkeling to offer with kayaks, paddle boards, beach hammocks and chairs nestled close to the palapa beach bar. You can snorkel with your guide from the beach on the reef nearby, kayak or paddle board around the caye, or be a beach bum and swing in a hammock in the shade with a tropical drink in your hand.

Silk Cayes Diving 2-TankThis barrier reef dive location is located in the Silk Cayes marine reserve and offers dramatic walls littered with sponges and coral life, including schools of snapper, large groupers, and creole wrasse. In addition, you will have the opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, and sharks, as well as other prolific and colorful smaller fish species. A visit to the shallow inside reef spot fondly referred to as “shark, ray, & turtle alley” for a snorkel is also include in this trip.

Ranguana Caye Diving 2-TankThis barrier reef location showcases spur and groove formations along the sloping wall. Apart from the usual players, one can sometimes see pelagic species like Mobular Rays (smaller manta-shaped rays), large King Fish, and Cobia Jack cruising just off the wall. Surface interval at Ranguana Caye where beach chairs and hammocks beckon, nestled against the shady palapa bar.

South Water Caye Diving 2-TankThis is the largest marine reserve in Belize, and encompasses several dive sites along the barrier reef there. Eagle ray sightings are numerous all along this stretch of reef. Some stretches of the reef wall offer stunning relief with ridges and vertical wall formations. Dive sites are so numerous here that divers can visit South Water Caye Marine Reserve for a week of diving and never dive the same dive sites.

Glovers Reef Atoll DivingThe second largest and most southern of the three Belizean atolls set outside the barrier reef, has dive sites ringing it on all sides, and is also a marine reserve and protected area. The eastern side that faces the Caribbean Sea offers steep walls. Near the southern end is a double wall system that starts at 45 feet and features abundant gorgonians, sponges and wire corals, with heavy plate corals as you go deeper. Going north to the more eastern side, there are is network of swim-throughs along the wall where various species of snapper and grouper like to shelter. Reef shark are often seen cruising the edge of the wall together with spotted eagle rays and turtles.

Refresher or Tune UpCertified, but rusty divers who haven’t dived for more than two years, should consider taking this short course which you can do in an afternoon. After a quiz to test your memory, you go in the pool with a PADI professional to do a skill circuit with your equipment, jog your memory, and brush off the cobwebs. You’ll be ready to dive the next day.

Length: Half Day in Pool Only

Discover Scuba DivingAlso called the Resort Course, is for those who have never dived before, or are not certified divers. In just one day you can learn about scuba diving, how your equipment works, and go on a dive at the cayes all in one day. Visit and explore the underwater world under the guidance and care of a PADI professional.

Length: 9am to 3pm

Minimum: 1 Person

Spin Casting & Trolling FishingFor the more adventurous fisher folk, take a cruise around the cayes inside the barrier reef hitting the best fishing spots for catching barracuda, king fish, jack, or snapper.

Length: Full Day

Maximum: 3 People

Salt Water Fly FishingFor the dedicated angler, the flats and holes around the numerous southern cayes offer opportunities for a Grand Slam with Permit, Bonefish, and Tarpon, as well as Snook.

Half Day FishingFly Fishing, Spin Casting or Trolling Fishing – Take your pick for a half day only. And cruise around the cayes inside the barrier reef hitting the best fishing spots for catching barracuda, king fish, jack, or snapper, while getting a chance to hit the flats for permit, or snook.

Sport/Game Fishing (Outer Reef)This full day of fishing allows for small groups of up to six anglers to head outside the barrier reef in search of game fish such as Wahoo and Sailfish, with players like Barracuda, King Fish and large Jacks also available to find.

Sport/Game Fishing (Inner Reef)This full day of fishing allows for small groups of up to six anglers to enjoy inner barrier reef fishing for barracuda, king fish, jack, or snapper.

Culture

Chocolate & WaterfallsSpend a morning at the Ixcacao Chocolatier, see cacao growing on trees and learn about its cultivation. Then enjoy Maya hot chocolate and other delicious chocolate samples while observing the process of making chocolate from bean to bar using heirloom stone tools. Spend the afternoon cooling off at jungle waterfalls nestled in the picturesque hills of San Antonio Village.

Chocolate & SpiceCombine a visit to the Ixcacao Chocolatier as described above, with a tour of the Belize Spice Farm. Here you will get your hands on cardamom, vanilla, allspice, nutmeg, and black pepper plants. Touch and taste these spices and learn about their origins, uses, cultivation, and processing. You’ll never look at your spice rack in the same way again!

Maya Site & Rio Blanco FallsNimli Punit (which means ‘big hat’ in the Ketchi Maya dialect), is a small and beautiful hilltop Maya site famous for its carved stones covered in hieroglyphs and images of gods and nobles. The second half of the day takes you to a beautiful visit to the Rio Blanco Falls where you can enjoy a refreshing swim.

Maya SitesA tour of Nimli Punit is combined with Lubaantun Maya Site. Lubaantun means “Place of the Fallen Stones” in the Ketchi Maya dialect, and is famous for its mortar-less stone work. It is also famous for the controversial crystal skull that was apparently discovered here by archaeologists in the 1920s.

Intensity: Easy to moderate

ATM CavesActun Tunichil Muknal means ‘Cave of Stone Sepulchre’, and is nestled in the foothills of the Maya Mountains. This famous cave contains four skeletons, ceramics and stoneware left by the Maya more than 1000 years ago. One of the skeletons is that of a young girl and her bones are completely covered by the natural limestone processes of the cave leaving them with a sparkling appearance. One has to climb, swim, and wade through a river that winds into the cave, and then climb up to the main ceremonial chamber to observe these fascinating artifacts.

Xunantunich & Blue Hole National Park This Maya Ruin of Xunantunich means ‘Maiden of the Rock’ in Maya, and is a well restored ruin, with a recently discovered king’s burial chamber full of ceremonial items. A stop at The Blue Hole National Park is done on the way back. This limestone cave formation is filled with water that reflects an incredibly blue colour. During your visit you can take a swim in this natural wonder.
