SOUTH COAST REGISTER - Wednesday, December 5, 2012 - 27 southcoastregister.com.au Happy one year anniversary IT all started one year ago, when co-owners Julie Preston and Leonie Clay threw open the doors to a brand new travel venture. Little did they know it would change the face of travel for the Nowra community. With a string of successes over the last 12 months, including winning three major awards, Julie and Leonie felt it was only right and proper to make a song and dance about their new travel agency, Travelscene Nowra’s first birthday. “We want to thank the Nowra community for their continued support during this year of successful business. Let’s celebrate in style!” Julie said. Travelscene Nowra has also expanded, from three staff members to five in the past year. Welcome Meryl Sanchez and Helen Chilton to the team. “Not only have we expanded, we also continue to travel the world – it’s our favourite pastime. Learning about and exploring cities and countries means that we can pass on our knowledge and passion for travel to our customers,” Leonie said. “In the last 12 months alone, we’ve been to Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Hawaii, Broome, Hong Kong, Santa Monica, Mexico (cruise) Central Australia, Club Med Bintan, Bali, Alice Springs, Los Angeles, Tasmania, Ayers Rock and a Europe river cruise.” So what’s the secret to their success? Julie said hands down it had been maintaining an absolute commitment to building personal relationships and surpassing clients’ expectations. “Julie and I have been in the travel industry for more than 50 years combined, and the travel sector has changed incredibly from, 20, 10, even five years ago. Keeping on top of trends, and being problem solvers is vital to ensuring happy customers, and business success,” Leonie said. “Our attention to detail and our personal commitment to look after clients and provide the highest level of service available has been the winning formula. We constantly review what we offer, from packages, to flights, accommodation, products and services – to spice it up and keep it interesting for our customers. “We have always believed in the importance of treating every client’s travel plans as if they were our own. We also know that one size does not fit all so we take the time to tailor-make each and every trip to suit our client. It really is travel created for you. “We’re locals at heart and are thrilled to be able to help the Nowra community achieve their travel dreams every day. No matter where you want to go or what you want to do, chances are our consultants have been there, and are ready and waiting to help you on your next adventure!” TOP JOB: Leonie and Julie accept the awards at the Travelscene American Express conference in Santa Monica. EXCITED: Leonie and Julie leave the awards with their trophy. Winners are grinners DID you know that this year alone, Travelscene Nowra has won three awards? Yes three! The 2012 Office of the Year Award; 2012 State Quantum Award for NSW; and 2012 Rising Star of the Year Award. This means that you have the best of the best in travel specialists in the country, right at your doorstep! So how did it all happen? When joining the Travelscene American Express network one year ago, Julie and Leonie set a goal: to win the Travelscene American Express Office of the Year Award at the network’s 2012 Owners Managers Conference. With an incredible amount of hard work, dedication – and support from the Nowra community – they did it. Travelscene Nowra won the 2012 Office of the Year Award, which was presented to them at a nationwide Travelscene American Express conference in Santa Monica, California. They were singled out for their incredible achievements in business, customer relations, innovation, and their dedication to the Nowra community and the travel industry. But it didn’t end there. Travelscene Nowra swept up two more trophies: the 2012 NSW State Quantum Award and the 2012 Rising Star of the Year Award, presented to consultant Maree Wright earlier in the year at the Travelscene American Express National Consultants Conference in Alice Springs.
