For further information refer to Regulations 55 and 56 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006 While working on excavations ensure adequate protection is in place around the excavation Edge perimeter of all excavations should be fully protected before close of work each day - This also applies to any short intervals throughout a working day when an excavation may be left unattended; e.g. Lunch breaks Ensure all accessible edges of excavations are appropriately protected Edge protection should be secure and capable of withstanding the force of an individual falling.
