Bernard Lerer MD is Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Biological Psychiatry Laboratory, Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center, Jerusalem, Israel. He trained at the University of Cape Town Medical School, Hadassah and Herzog Hospitals, Jerusalem and Lafayette clinic, Detroit, MI. His research interests include the molecular genetics of psychiatric and movement disorders and the neurochemical mechanisms and clinical psychopharmacology of antidepressants and brain stimulation. He has served as Director of the National Institute for Psychobiology in Israel, Chairman of the Israel Society for Biological Psychiatry, Vice President of the International College of Neuropsychopharmacology and Founding Editor of the International Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology. He is the recipient of the AE Bennet Award of the US Society for Biological Psychiatry. He has edited four books and is the author of over 300 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
