Dear Parents and Carers, Everyone is very excited about Bonfire Night on Saturday and we are all looking forward to fireworks, fires and fun! To make sure that everyone enjoys themselves and comes back in one piece on Monday, we have been reminding the children to keep themselves safe. Please could you reinforce a few simple messages at home. Visit this website with your children, or just talk it through with them www.bonfire-night-safety.co.uk/ Thanks very much. Roy Gunning

H is for Homework Supporting your child with activities at home sends powerful messages about how much you value their learning. Little, often and fun are the key. A few minutes spent reading, or practicing spellings or number facts, over time, instill confidence and improve ability.
Supporting your child at home with...Reading! Research shows that the most important thing you can do to help your child achieve at school is read with them. Little and often is the key!
There are three things that your child needs to learn to do: 1) Decode words 2) Understand what they have read 3) Enjoy it!
Reading with your child should be enjoyable. The more fun you have, the more likely you are to instil a love of reading. Encourage discussion with your child when reading with them. They will probably ask you some interesting questions, so don’t be afraid to stop reading and explore these further. Mrs Leather
DANBY LODGE On the day we broke up for half term, Maple and Ash classes enjoyed a fabulous visit to Danby Lodge.
They experienced geocaching, map reading and compass skills. They thoroughly enjoyed exploring the green and woodland areas racing against each other to find the next clues.
An extremely worthwhile and fun trip.

Keeping your child safe - Cyber Bullying and Trolling Tips to teach your child to avoid and prevent them being bullied online:
● Don’t share personal information - name, address, school, phone number, email address
● Don’t share anything you wouldn’t want shown on the screen in assembly. ● Never pass on cyberbullying messages and tell your friends not to. ● Don’t be a cyber bully bystander - tell an adult. ● Never send messages when you are angry or upset. ● Always talk, talk, talk to a trusted adult about anything that upsets you
online.
