Never before have we had the opportunity to impact the people we serve on a major scale. A Social Worker is a change-engine. When we are unable to help people we serve, it often leaves us frustrated and discouraged,

Think About It

Page 2: Agape Life Newsletter - July 2014

Consumer Credit Counseling is one of the new services that is provided at Agape Foundations, Inc. The goal of the program is to assist individuals, who are experiencing problems with money management, budgeting, understanding and managing credit, and a variety of other financial problems.

Our certified credit counselors sit down one-on-one with clients and teach them the steps to achieving and maintaining an acceptable credit score.

This program also offers: appraisal of credit reports, credit card management, debt management and budget planning.

Our counselors know that in order to make a change, you have to change the way you think, with guidance from professional “Money Making Mogul” Dave Ramsey’s “Total Money Makeover” on audio.

Because Agape Foundations is a non-profit organization, donations and fundraisers are the most efficient ways for us to

raise money. We have a small fundraiser on fundly.com and we collect any and all sized donations on our website www.a g a p e f o u n d a t i o n s i n c .com, however our newest fundraiser is a VIP Card.

This VIP Card is a local shopping discount card that is good for a year. We have a list of companies that have agreed to par tner with AFI and give our suppor ters discounts at their favorite stores, such as: Lillian’s Seafood Restaurant, AW’s Towing & Recovery, 4K Dry Cleaning, and Heaven and Ear th. This card can even give you discounts on AFI services.

AFI has partnered with the Royal Priesthood Academy, and the Breast Cancer Association to do this fundraiser in support of AFI’s vision.

“The best thing about this list of retail shops, is that the list can always get bigger,” says Floyd Foster. “Someone who has purchased a VIP card can reccommend to us their favorite stores, and our representatives will contact that establishment to see if they will join our list.”

For more information on the VIP card, or to learn how to start a fundraiser for your organization, visit royalpriesthoodrevolution.com.

If you are interested in joining the fundraising efforts, contact us at 757-315-8039, and ask for Floyd Foster or Paul McLean.

Have you ever had a pair of jeans that you had to jump into just to put on? You knew they were too tight before you put them on, but you had to wear them. So all throughout the day you had to suffer through being uncomfortable. Uncomfortable when you sat down because they squeezed your legs, and when you ate, and had to walk around all day holding your stomach in. As soon as you got home behind closed doors, you couldn’t wait to take them off, and did so with a struggle. After that struggle, you vowed to never wear them again, but you did three weeks later!

If this doesn’t apply to you, I’m coming down your lane in 2.5 seconds.

Well, let’s put a spin on the clothes that don’t fit. How many of us are walking around, living other people dreams as if they are our own (wearing clothes that don’t fit). Or heading in a certain direction, because everyone suggests that we go that way (wearing clothes that don’t fit). Maybe you even have on layers of clothes of past hurt, defeat, disappointment and fear.

You see, when you wear clothes that don’t fit, you are in fact ignoring where you are currently.

You are holding on to someone else’s identity, or holding onto the past! You are choosing to ignore the fact that you need to do some closet cleaning, throwing away the “labels” that no longer apply, and picking out the ones that do!

People get into this cycle of putting on their Friday’s best to fake everyone out, and eventually end up faking themselves out.

Below I have some Tips to help You Out: Too Tight & it Hurts. When we feel pain, that means

the issue has been there a long time, and the pain is to get our attention. What needs your attention? The longer you delay, the longer you will experience pain. Address the issue, make adjustments, and move on!

Clean Your closet, plain and simple. You need to let go of what no longer “fits” you. We hold onto things because they are our security blankets, but your security blanket could be blocking you from being where you need to be in life!

Add some color. We sometimes get stuck in a rut, and tend to pick out the same thing to wear. This is the same thing for life. I encourage you to make a list of new things you want to try before the year is over!!! The more you add “color,” the more you will enjoy life!

Side Note: If you have clothes that you haven’t worn in years or months, let them go. If they are too small, just buy the size that fits. OKAY!!!

July 14-18 is the introduction of summer play at Agape Life Church, sponsored by Agape Life Church and Agape Foundations, Inc.

“At Agape Summer Play, we want to provide a safe and fun environment for kids whose parents could not afford summer camp,” says Patrice Foster.

Each week, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. children ages 4-12 will receive free breakfast, lunch and snacks. They will be able to play sports, make crafts, skate, go on field trips, and participate in bible study and tutoring from EduHELP. Best of all, there is no out-of-pocket cost!

Kwanzaa Mawusi, founder of EduHELP tutoring says, “We want to help students excel in their studying and, make learning a joy instead of an annoying necessity.”

This program will be run on a week-by-week trial basis, until there is a steady flow of children enrolled.

For more information, or to pre-register, contact Patrice Foster at 757-618-9021 or [email protected].
