não é possível escrever sobre Abril sem que necessariamente se aborde o 40.º aniversário da Revolução ocorrida a 25 desse mês. não posso deixar de registar a intensidade com que vivi esse momento e o facto de as memórias que guardo em mim terem o sabor intacto da emoção e da esperança que nesse dia senti. Por isso, enquanto Presidente da Câmara Municipal, não podia passar ao lado deste grande acontecimento da nossa história contemporânea e, arregaçando as mangas, ter promovido a criação de uma comissão cívica concelhia, comissariada pelo Jornalista Carlos Albino, que, desde Dezembro, tem tido a responsabilidade da preparação de um vasto conjunto de actividades: encontros, palestras, exposições, colóquios, manifestações de expressão popular e o envolvimento de todas as escolas do concelho, de modo a que as gerações que não viveram o 25 de Abril o conheçam, o entendam, a fim de poderem dar continuidade aos seus nobres propósitos. A tudo isto acresce a participação, em discurso directo, de personagens que tiveram um papel activo nesse momento tão significativo da vida de todos nós. Um bom exemplo disso ocorreu no início oficial das comemorações,

One can not write about April without mentioning the 40th anniversary of the revolution which happened on the 25th of this month.Therefore I must register the intensity with which I lived that moment and the fact that the memories I keep have the intact taste of excitement and hope which I felt on that day. So, as mayor, I could not disregard this great event in our contemporary history, and, rolling up my sleeves, I have promoted the creation of a civic council committee, curated by journalist Carlos Albino, whom, since December, has had the responsibility of organizing a wide range of events: meetings, lectures, exhibitions, conferences, demonstrations of popular expression and involvement of all schools in the council, so that the generations who did not live April 25 can learn and understand, thus to be able to continue its noble purposes. To all this we add the direct statements of characters that had an active role in such a significant moment in the life of us all. A good example of this occurred at the official opening of the celebrations on March 15th last, in which men with ‘status’ presented us with

no pretérito dia 15 de Março, em que os homens com ‘posto’ nos presentearam com um momento irrepetível que, só por isso, já valeu a decisão de Loulé se alcandorar como um Município que possui estatuto próprio e ideias firmes no sentido de respeitar Abril.Porque para respeitar Abril temos que lutar contra o encerramento de empresas, proteger os mais carenciados, tornar a justiça, a educação e a saúde mais acessíveis, em suma garantir a manutenção do Estado Social que tanto custou a edificar e mantermo-nos alerta em relação àqueles que vêem a sua progressiva extinção como a solução para os males do País. É imperativo exercermos a nossa cidadania e evitar esse desiderato, porque é por demais sabido que andam por aí certos ‘meteorologistas’ inventivos a prever ‘boas abertas’. Mas, caros leitores, o nevoeiro persiste. Recordemos e festejemos então este aniversário, num presente feito de desespero mas assumido ainda com alguma esperança, mensagem que tão bem se acolhe no recentemente publicado livro da nossa conterrânea a escritora Lídia Jorge, ‘Os Memoráveis’, num exercício ficcionado sobre um presente que não esconde o seu olhar sobre Abril.E porque se trata da nossa agenda municipal, não posso deixar de referir que este mês conviveremos com duas manifestações desportivas a não perder: mais uma edição do Rally de Portugal, em que o concelho de Loulé será palco de uma das principais classificativas; e com a já consagrada prova de Triatlo na Cidade de Quarteira. no domínio cultural, chamo a atenção para a Gala do 35.º Aniversário da Casa da Cultura de Loulé e a tradicional Semana Cultural de Alte, que decorre até o dia 1 de Maio. Finalmente, uma curta nota para a presença, no Cine-Teatro, de um cantor particularmente ligado a este mês de Abril: Sérgio Godinho.Boa leitura e que a memória de Abril, nos inspire e reinvente um futuro mais justo e decente.

Revolução dos Cravos, conhecida, efetivamente, como Revolução de 25 de abril, refere-se a um período da história de Portugal resultante de um movimento social, ocorrido a 25 de abril de 1974, que depôs o regime ditatorial do Estado novo, vigente desde 1933, e iniciou um processo que viria a terminar com a implantação de um regime democrático e com a entrada em vigor da nova Constituição a 25 de abril de 1976, com uma forte orientação socialista na sua origem.Esta ação foi liderada por um movimento militar, o Movimento das Forças Armadas (MFA), que era composto na sua maior parte por capitães que tinham participado na Guerra Colonial e que tiveram o apoio de oficiais milicianos. Este movimento surgiu por volta de 1973, baseando-se inicialmente em reivindicações corporativistas como a luta pelo prestígio das forças armadas, acabando por se estender ao regime político em vigor.A comunidade louletana acompanhou, desde o primeiro momento, a causa heroica do Movimento das Forças Armadas, partilhando e vivendo as suas angústias e vicissitudes de um percurso difícil e conturbado na luta pela liberdade. na sequência desta revolução foi instituído em Portugal um feriado nacional no dia 25 de abril, denominado como “Dia da Liberdade”.

The Carnation Revolution, known effectively as Revolution of April 25, refers to a period in the history of Portugal resultant from a social movement, which occurred on April 25, 1974, that overthrew the dictatorial Estado Novo regime, in force since 1933 and initiated a process that would end with the establishment of a democratic regime and the entry into force of the new Constitution on April 25, 1976, with a strong socialist orientation in its origin.This action was led by a military movement, the Movimento das Forças Armadas (MFA) – (Armed Forces Movement), which was composed mostly by captains who had participated in the Colonial War and who had the support of militia officers. This movement emerged around 1973, based initially on corporatist claims as the fight for the prestige of the armed forces, eventually extending to the current political regime.From the first moment the community of Loulé followed the heroic cause of the Armed Forces Movement, living and sharing their troubles and vicissitudes of a difficult and turbulent journey in the fight for freedom.As a result of this revolution, a national holiday was established in Portugal on April 25, termed as “Dia da Liberdade” (Freedom Day).

For that reason alone it was a worthy decision to perch Loulé as a municipality that has its own status and firm ideas towards respecting April.Because in order to respect April we must fight against the closing of enterprises, protect the neediest, make justice, education and health more accessible, in short, ensure the maintenance of the welfare state that has cost so much to build, and keep ourselves alert towards those who see their gradual extinction as the solution to the ills of the country.It is therefore imperative that we exert our citizenship and avoid this desideratum, because it is well known that certain “soothsayers” are walking around predicting “good omens”. But, dear readers, the iniquity persists.So let us evoke and celebrate this anniversary, with a present made of despair but yet of faith, a message recently published in a book from our fellow- writer Lidia Jorge “Os Memoráveis” (The Memorable), a fiction work about the present which does not hide her gaze upon April.And because it is our municipal agenda, I must mention two unmissable sports events which will take place this month: another edition of the Rally of Portugal, in which the municipality of Loulé will be hosting one of the major sections, and the already well-known Triathlon in the city of Quarteira.In the cultural sector, I would like to highlight the 35th anniversary gala of Casa da Cultura de Loulé and the traditional Cultural Week of Alte, which runs until May 1. Finally, a short note mentioning the presence at Cine-Teatro of Sérgio godinho, a singer especially linked to this month.good readings, and may the memory of April inspire us and reinvent a more just and decent future.

With this work the artist intended to reflect on the relationship between the surveillance systems and the current society, investigating the impact this has on human behavior, in particular, on the artist’s. Carlos Brito was elected in 1975 deputy of Assembleia Constituinte, continuing without interruption, to the position of Member of Assembleia da República, between 1976 and1991. He was leader of the PCP (Portuguese Communist Party) Parliamentary group, for fifteen years. In 1980 he was candidate for President of the Republic, but then abdicated in favor of Ramalho Eanes. In 1997 he was awarded the grand Cross of the Order of Infante D. Henrique and in 2004, with the grand Officer of the Order of Liberty, becoming one of the renovators of PCP and then suspended from this party. In the presidential elections of 2006 he supported the independent candidate Manuel Alegre

Francisco.Durante os quinze dias da sua estadia neste local, as novenas e os sermões conduzidos por afamados oradores sacros perfazem uma vigília religiosa de grande poder espiritual.

On Easter Sunday, April 20, the Little Feast in honor of Our Lady of Mercy (Sovereign Mother) and Patroness of the City will be held. This event marks the starting of what is considered the largest religious manifestation to the South of Fátima. At first, the image of Our Lady will descend the hill towards the Church of São Francisco. During the fortnight of Her stay at this church, novenas and sermons led by renowned preachers transform these religious vigils into great spiritual gatherings.

BTT DE ALTE REGRESSA à DATA DE 25 DE ABRILA mítica maratona BTT de Alte regressa à data que a celebrizou: 25 de abril. O extraordinário ambiente de festa que caracteriza o evento está assim mais uma vez garantido em Alte, numa aldeia que já foi considerada uma das mais típicas de Portugal. A Maratona/Passeio é constituída por 4 níveis: nível 1 - Passeio Família - 17 Km; nível 2 - Clássico Passeio - 26 km; nível 3 - Meia Maratona Lazer - 53 Km; nível 4 - Maratona Lazer e Taça do Algarve de Maratonas xCM - 75 Km; Complementarmente ao BTT será promovido um Passeio Pedestre para acompanhantes, pela aldeia de Alte e zona circundante, e realizar-se-á um Mercadinho Regional, no espaço de lazer da Fonte Pequena.Foi reforçada a estrutura organizativa com uma parceria entre a Escola Profissional de Alte, Grupo Desportivo Serrano e Junta de Freguesia de Alte, com o apoio da Câmara Municipal de Loulé.O BTT de Alte é um evento que integra as comemorações dos 40 anos do 25 de Abril no Concelho de Loulé.

ALTE MTB RETURNS ON APRIL 25The mythical MTB Alte Marathon returns on the date it became well-known: April 25. The extraordinary festive atmosphere that characterizes the event is once again guaranteed in Alte, a village considered one of the most typical of Portugal.The Marathon / Tour consists of 4 levels: Level 1 - Family Tour - 17 km; Level 2 - Classic Tour - 26 km; Level 3 - Half Marathon Leisure - 53 km; Level 4 - Marathon Leisure and Algarve Cup Marathons xCM - 75 km;Complementing the MTB, a Walking Tour for companions will also be promoted throughout the village of Alte and surroundings. VODAFONE RALLy DE PORTUgAL IS BACk ON THE ROADFrom April 03 to 06 the thrill of Vodafone Rally de Portugal will be back on the road. Besides Lisbon, the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo will also have the privilege to host this competition which is one of the largest sporting events in the country.In this edition the competition will celebrate its 40th anniversary and a decade since being held in the south, in the municipality of Loulé. The double passing through Malhão, a stretch of 22.15 km, on Saturday, April 5 will be a highlight in this event, and the last standing of the Rally - Power Stage - beginning at 11h00 of Sunday, April 6, with a double passing in a shorter version on the section of Loulé, 13.8 km.The event will have extensive coverage by RTP, with live streaming of the Malhão and Loulé road sections. Noteworthy is the fact that the Vodafone Rally de Portugal is, since 2007, the sporting event with the greatest economic return for our country since Euro 2004.

Em tempos de crise, o escoamento é cada vez mais difícil, pelo que muitos destes agricultores vendem diretamente ao consumidor para garantirem a sua subsistência.A variedade “newhall”, fruto de tamanho médio a grande, é uma das mais vendidas nesta altura do ano, sendo a D. João aquela que pode permanecer mais tempo na árvore, até Setembro.José Sequeira, antes de se dedicar a esta atividade, andou vinte anos pela camionagem, dizendo-nos que a sua vida é trabalhar e que quase não tem tempo livre.

Citriculture is one of the most important sectors of agriculture in our region. The orange can be considered a “symbol” of the Algarve, for its quality, its taste and for being a very popular fruit. José Sequeira, a full-time farmer, is one of the smallholders who sells his product to the many appreciators of our orange. In times of crisis, the flow is increasingly difficult, so many of these farmers sell directly to consumers to ensure their livelihood. The “Newhall” specie, a medium to large sized fruit, is one of the most sold in this time of year, being the “D. João” the one that can stay longer on the tree, until September. Before devoting himself to this activity, José Sequeira, worked as a trucker for twenty years. He tells us that his life is spent working with hardly any spare time.

Pelas 13h45 entra em prova a Elite Feminina e, pelas 16h30, é a vez da Elite Masculina.Para domingo, está prevista a realização das componentes juniores e nacional deste xII Triatlo. 13TH TRIATHLON PROFESSOR CARLOS gRAVATA - CITy OF QUARTEIRA AND EUROPEAN CUP 2014On the 12th and 13th of April, Quarteira will celebrate another sport festival with the completion of the 13th Triathlon Professor Carlos gravata - City of Quarteira, the top European athletes in this modality being present.At the start of another Olympic cycle and eyeing Rio de Janeiro in 2016, athletes will, no doubt, bet on a great start, providing intense expectation for this competition.The program kicks off on Saturday with the European Cup race. At 13h45 the Women’s Elite race will take place and by 16h30, it is the Men’s Elite turn.On Sunday the schedule comprises the junior and national components of this 13th Triathlon. The European Junior Cup takes place at 08h45, with the Junior Women’s race and at 10h00 with the Junior Men’s race.At 11h30 starts the National Club Championship, with the Men’s and Women’s Elites occurring simultaneously.

E foi precisamente nessa data que se procedeu à substituição das placas toponímicas nas seguintes artérias: Av. 25 de Abril (ex. Av. General Carmona), Largo S. Francisco (ex. Largo Dr. Oliveira Salazar), Rua do Movimento das Forças Armadas (ex. Rua da Legião), Rua General Humberto Delgado (ex. Rua 28 de Maio). A Av. 25 de Abril é uma das principais artérias da cidade de Loulé, que tem início no Largo Gago Coutinho e término na Pct. do Monumento ao Eng. As in the rest of the country, the 25th of April was intensely lived in Loulé. Shortly after the “Carnation Revolution”, the most remarkable political event was the October 5th celebration. The Administrative Committee in helm of the Municipality prepared a program for the day which achieved remarkable success. It was precisely on that date that the replacement of signposts stuck in the following places occurred: Avenida 25 de Abril (e.g. Avenida general Carmona); Largo S. Francisco (e.g. Largo Dr. Oliveira Salazar); Rua Movimento das Forças Armadas (e.g. Rua da Legião); Rua general Humberto Delgado (e.g. Rua 28 de Maio). “Avenida 25 de Abril” is a major artery in the city of Loulé, it starts at “Largo gago Coutinho” and ends at “Praceta do Monumento” in tribute to Eng. Duarte Pacheco. Within the agenda of the 40th anniversary of April 25th celebrations, this year being targeted to be a true citizenship project with a high level of involvement by the civil society, ongoing from March to December 2014. DESPORTO E MUITA CULTURAA Associação Cultural de Salir é a mais antiga coletividade de Salir. A sua história começou há 39 anos, quando um grupo de amigos se juntou nas traseiras da igreja para criar um clube desportivo na sua terra.na época de 79/80, a equipa de futebol sénior foi campeã distrital. Mas o maior feito da Associação Cultural de Salir aconteceu na época 81/82, venceram a Taça do Algarve e foram ganhadores da série F da III divisão nacional, ascendendo à II divisão.Em termos de desportos motorizados, esta coletividade organiza todos os anos o célebre “Salir TT” que junta muitos entusiastas do todo o terreno nesta região.Atualmente a Associação tem mais de uma centena de praticantes nas modalidades de futebol, dança, ginástica e artes marciais.Os atuais dirigentes da Associação Cultural de Salir, tentam agradar e proporcionar aos seus sócios desporto e cultura.

Its History began 39 years ago when a group of friends joined in the church’s grounds to found a sports club in their hometown.In the years of 79/80, the senior football team was district champion. However the greatest achievement of Associação Cultural de Salir happened in the years of 81/82, when they won the Algarve Cup and were winners of the F Series of the 3rd national division, upgrading to the 2nd.In terms of motor sports, the community organizes every year the renowned “Salir TT” which joins many all-terrain enthusiasts in this region.Currently the association has over a hundred practitioners in the sports of soccer, dance, gymnastics and martial arts.The current leaders of this association try to please and to provide their members with sports and culture.

De 29 a 31 de maio, a freguesia de Salir celebra mais uma edição da Festa da Espiga, com um programa repleto de atividades culturais, desportivas e gastronómicas, dividido em três noites temáticas: noite da Espiga (29 maio), noite Popular (30 maio) e noite Jovem (31 maio).As festividades arrancam na Quinta-Feira da Espiga, dia 9 de maio, data em que se assinala também o Dia do Município de Loulé, a partir das 9h00 com um Passeio BTT e Passeio Pedestre.

Dia 04 de Maio, realiza-se a Festa Grande da Mãe Soberana, que constitui o momento mais alto das celebrações em honra da Padroeira da cidade. Depois de, no Domingo de Páscoa se ter celebrado a Festa Pequena, a Santa regressa ao seu altar numa tradição que movimenta milhares de fiéis.Para além do programa litúrgico, o fogo-de--artifício é o culminar de uma Festa que tem também uma forte componente cultural e turística.

Between May 29 and 31, the town of Salir celebrates another edition of “Festa da Espiga”, with a full program of cultural, sporting and gastronomic activities, divided into three themed evenings: “Espiga” Evening (May 29), Popular Evening (May 30) and youth Evening (May 31).The festivities will begin on Ascension Day, May 29, which is also the Municipal Holiday, with an MTB Ride and a Walking Tour.

On May 04 the great Feast of the Sovereign Mother will take place. It is the high point in the celebrations in honor of the patroness of the city. After the Little Feast celebrations on Easter Sunday, the Image of the Sovereign Mother returns to Her altar in a procession which attracts thousands of faithful.In addition to the liturgical program, a display of fireworks will be the culmination of a festival which also comprises strong cultural and touristic components.
