Lydia: Ahead of Her TimeAn original WTVP production about Lydia Moss BradleyThursday, December 5 at 7 pm

Join WTVP for this hour-long special presentation of Lydia: Ahead of Her Time. Lydia Moss Bradley was a petite woman who lost her husband and all six children, but she turned her sorrow into long-lasting legacies in Peoria and beyond. Follow the journey of this strong woman, from her humble beginnings in Indiana through her death, in this original WTVP production. Lydia quadrupled her late husband’s estate while at the same time making significant contributions to the community.

As a philanthropist, she donated the land for Laura Bradley Park, was instrumental in creating the current Children’s Home, became a board member of a large bank, paid the mortgage for the then Universalist Church, provided the house for the first hospital of what is now OSF Saint Francis HealthCare and created a horology school that would later be incorporated into Bradley Polytechnic Institute. Entrepreneur, philanthropist, enthusiast of children’s charities and education, Lydia was truly ahead of her time.

Hosted by seven-time Grammy Award winner Gloria Estefan, SESAME STREET: 50 YEARS & STILL SUNNY! is part of special programming premier-ing on WTVP beginning Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 7 PM.

Featuring interviews with Jodie Foster, Itzhak Perlman, LL Cool J, filmmaker Ken Burns, PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger and Jeffrey D. Dunn, President and CEO of Sesame Workshop, the program also includes interviews with many of the award-winning writers and puppeteers who brought the beloved characters from the series to life.

WTVP was pleased to celebrate the contributions of all our dedi-cated volunteers at our 33rd Annual Volunteer Recognition Event held October 29 at the WTVP Studio. WTVP recognized the accomplishments and achievements by celebrating with over 100 volunteers in attendance.

From honoring annual service hour awards to the Jane Bour-land Award for longevity and recognizing new volunteers to the periodically given Impact Award for transformational ideas and service, and from the prestigious Louise Alloy Volunteer of the

Year Award exemplifying extraordinary commitment and high level of service to the Honor Roll, a recognition of continued impact for volunteers by volunteers, the evening highlighted all these successes along with the creation of local productions due in part to the efforts our these dedicated individuals.

And whether you worked an hour or two on Auction or all year long on our various projects, WTVP thanks each and every one of you for your hard work and dedication on our behalf. We couldn’t do it without you!
