. Aircraft modifications, retrofitting, supplemental type certificates, …but where? In the automobile industry every- body is familiar with the term „tuning“: Whether it is perfomance, appearance, safety, economy or additional functions, the possibilities are endless and service providers are in abundance. But what about aviation? Everything is regulated, new aircraft are built in some kind of spartan standard look with limited options. Only a handful of maintenance companies are in the position to offer extensive modifica- tions, retrofitting and repair procedures, known as EASA Part 21 Design Organi- sations (DOA). At NAYAK, at the Cologne / Bonn Airport, a company has grown over a period of several decades which can now look back on a wide range of air- craft modifications and retrofitting as per minor changes or EASA-approved STCs (Supplemental Type Certificates). Thanks to the additional approval as a production organisation (POA), be- neath the design any parts can also be manufactured in-house. Herewith all pre-requirements are met to be able to plan, design and carry out aircraft modifications, from small single engine aircraft up to Airliner aircraft, being structural modifications (air- frame), avionics, the cabin or the development of repair instructions. Frequent enquiries include avionics retrofitting such as Garmin GNS 430 / 530 or nowaday´s GTN 600 / 700 series in aircraft up to 5.7t, ELT retrofitting, transponder mode S, TCAS and weather radars. In the Airliner and Business Jet sector, data downlink equipment such as CPDLC is required following the im- plementation of the Single European Sky project. If for Business Jets it is cabin refur- bishment, SATCOM installations or entertainment systems – everything is possible. Not to forget the economic effects: Retrofitting aircraft such as Piper PA46 or Embraer Legacy with HID / Xenon / LED landing and taxiing lights not only provides visual benefits in terms of „seeing and being seen“, but also results in a significant extension of the lamps and covers‘ life spans due to the minimal build-up of heat, a signifi- cant reduction in energy consumption and therefore the preservation of the entire electrical system together with the generator and battery. Costs for maintenance and replacement parts are consequently reduced. For any aircraft owners or operators, there are existing unknown possibilities concerning modifying or customising the aircraft or simply increase safety.

Only a handful of maintenance companies are in the position to offer extensive modifica-tions, retrofitting and repair procedures, known as EASA Part 21 Design Organi-sations (DOA).

At NAYAK, at the Cologne / Bonn Airport, a company has grown over a period of several decades which can now look back on a wide range of air-craft modifications and retrofitting as per minor changes or EASA-approved STCs (Supplemental Type Certificates). Thanks to the additional approval as a production organisation (POA), be-neath the design any parts can also be manufactured in-house.

Herewith all pre-requirements are met to be able to plan, design and carry out aircraft modifications, from small single engine aircraft up to Airliner aircraft, being structural modifications (air-frame), avionics, the cabin or the development of repair instructions.

Frequent enquiries include avionics retrofitting such as Garmin GNS 430 / 530 or nowaday´s GTN 600 / 700 series in aircraft up to 5.7t, ELT retrofitting, transponder mode S, TCAS and weather radars. In the Airliner and Business Jet sector, data downlink equipment such as CPDLC is required following the im-plementation of the Single European Sky project.

If for Business Jets it is cabin refur-bishment, SATCOM installations or entertainment systems – everything is possible.

Not to forget the economic effects: Retrofitting aircraft such as Piper PA46 or Embraer Legacy with HID / Xenon / LED landing and taxiing lights not only

provides visual benefits in terms of „seeing and being seen“, but also results in a significant extension of the lamps and covers‘ life spans due to the minimal build-up of heat, a signifi-cant reduction in energy consumption and therefore the preservation of the entire electrical system together with the generator and battery. Costs for maintenance and replacement parts are consequently reduced.

For any aircraft owners or operators, there are existing unknown possibilities concerning modifying or customising the aircraft or simply increase safety.

Good to know a partner with many years of experience in the development and performance of such customer requests.
