Below are what I have chosen as my favourite album covers

• Image - Power, dominance, pride, unity and fantasy

• About (band) – Powerful music, fantasy based, believers of mythical culture

• Target – People with similar interest, power metallers

• Image – Creepy, mysterious, edgy, wrongful (paedophilia + girl hanging)

• About (band) – Strange, different and more edgy than the norm (one letter backwards)

• Target – Metallers, alternative people, teens?

• Image – Simplistic, attention grabbing, no text (draws your attention)

• About (band) – Feel no need to announce themselves, mysterious, see no need to overcomplicate

• Target – From cover it is hard to tell as nothing is given away

• Image – Gothic, peaceful, symbolic (doves, jewels and bandage over eyes)

• About (band) – Gothic music, not very heavy (peaceful)

• Target – Fans of Gothic Metal, may draw a more female audience

• Image – Power/strength, oppression (tied wrist), red (revolution), striking

• About (band) – Rebellious, strong music (loud), try to make an impact

• Target – Rebellious teens, fans of loud music

• Image – Strength under oppression, power over all, violence (shown in image and writing)

• About – Rebellious, anti-establishment, fans of uprising

• Target – Anti-government supporters, metallers, the oppressed, teens?

For my montage I have chosen many bands album covers from the Metal genre. I have done this to see the different ways each band represents themselves. From this I have seen the main points the bands are trying to put across are non-conformity, power, violence and edginess. None of the covers feature the band which could be because they feel they can represent their genre through art rather than their own image. It is as if this is how they would like to see themselves.
