ALBURY PUBLIC SCHOOL PROUD Member of the crossing point learning community Week 10 Term 2 28 June, 2017 Dear All Well its hard to believe Term 2 is coming to an end and we have had ten weeks of learning since the last holidays. It will be great to recharge the batteries and spend some quality time with our families and friends before we commence another busy term. Term 3 is the ‘musical term’ and staff and students have already commenced preparations. During the past week, all students have taken a note home, outlining the costume they require. We appreciate your support in organising these costumes as soon as you can, so it is one less thing to follow up closer to the performances. If you have questions please contact your child’s teacher. The biennial APS musical will be performed at the Entertainment Centre on the evenings of Wednesday 6 September and Thursday 7 September. Please pop these dates on your calendar. More information regarding ticket sales etc will be communicated next term. STAFF CHANGES TERM 3- Next term Mr Jacob King will be leaving Albury Public School to pursue a teaching position in London. We thank Mr King for his enthusiasm and dedication to the students of 1MBR. Miss Emma Knee will be teaching 1MBR until the end of the year. We welcome her onto our staff. Mr King and Miss Knee will meet this week to ensure classroom programs continue and student information is shared. Ms Kathryn Bonham will not be returning to teach 1/2MBD next term. I also thank Ms Bonham for her efforts with the students of 1/2MBD. LOST PROPERTY- Once again, at the end of the term we have many unnamed items in our Lost Property bins. If your child has lost something, eg jumper, spray jacket, drink bottle please remind them to have a look in these bins before Friday. After Friday, the items will be either sent to a charity or placed for sale in our Uniform shop. Over the holidays, please check that all your child’s belongings, particularly clothing, are named so the items can be returned if lost. KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS- Do you have a child who will be commencing Kindergarten in 2018? If so, please call into the office or phone to give your child’s details. Please pass on this information to neighbours, relatives and friends who live in our zone and are wishing to enrol their child next year. Next term we will be planning our Orientation sessions which will commence early Term 4.

If you are travelling during the holidays, please travel safely. Enjoy the break! Carolyn Howard, Principal (Rel).

YEAR 6 CANBERRA EXCURSION - Year 6 enjoyed an outstanding educational excursion to Canberra last week! The group was complimented for their exemplary behaviour by Albury Public School staff, the bus company, accommodation and many tour guides. Their willingness to learn was a real highlight, and many students stepped out of their comfort zone to accomplish amazing achievements. It was a pleasure to watch each individual student grow, along with their friendship groups and the year group as a whole. Some of the highlights throughout the week included: meeting and speaking with the member for Farrer, Sussan Ley, at Parliament House, and the Captains participating in the Last Post ceremony at the Australian War Memorial. Students also enjoyed visiting the National Gallery, Museum of Australian Democracy, Australian Electoral Commission, Royal Australian Mint, Questacon, Australian Institute of Sport and the National Zoo and Aquarium. Thank you to all of the staff who attended and supported the coordination of this excursion, which was extremely valuable for all who attended. Nathan Fisher, Assistant Principal.

PSSA NETBALL- A big thank you to the Year 5 girls who played two games on Friday while our Year 6 players were at camp, you did an awesome job. The Junior teams again showed great teamwork and played their games with enthusiasm. Well done girls. I would like to acknowledge the outstanding effort the players put in each week in padding up the goals, taking them down and packing them away.

Thank you! Sue Burgess, Coordinator. PSSA JUNIOR AFL- It was great to be playing again after having a bye and the boys showed how eager they were, consistently winning the contested ball. Ben Hyman was laying tackle after tackle and Lenny Koller was fantastic once again in the ruck. Charlie Sawyer, one of our smallest players was playing much bigger than himself, taking brave marks in the backline. All of the boys played really well and displayed great sportsmanship. Our next game will be against Thurgoona at Jelbart Park.

Bradley Fyffe, Coordinator.

If you believe that the item has been returned to the library, please return the slip to the library with a comment to that end. Your assistance with this matter is appreciated.
