A message from the Principal (continued)

At Monday’s assembly we presented the certificates to the participants in the ICAS testing. We had quite a list of achievers and I would like to congratulate all of them for having a go. With the new online platform this year, we did encounter a number of issues but the students managed these and many still achieved outstanding results. Well done. On Monday, we also commemorated Remembrance Day with a short service under the COLA. Mrs Dicketts accompanied Mia and Ryan to the formal service in St Matthews church where they laid a wreath on behalf of our school. Thanks to Mrs Dicketts, Mrs Woodward and Mrs Jacobs for your organisation of the Remembrance Day services this year. A reminder to all the parents/carers who would like their child/children to attend the School Swimming Scheme that money and notes need to be returned to the school by Monday 18 November. Families who hold season passes may need to present these at each session for entry. Year 2 students will attend for 10 days and students in Years 3 – 6 will attend for 9 days due to Presentation day. The cost to Year 2 students is $33.00 per student and the cost to students in Years 3 – 6 is $30.00 per student. School swim scheme runs from Monday 2 December to Friday 13 December. If you have any further questions regarding School swim scheme please contact Miss Sammi Mundy at the school.

In two weeks, on Tuesday November 26, the staff at Albury Public School would like to thank all the parent and community helpers who have given some of their time or contributed to our school during 2019. You are invited to the "Thank you" afternoon tea, at 1:00pm, in the APS Hall. Personal invitations will be sent home soon. Please save the date.

Students in Years 3 – 6, interested in dance, are encouraged to audition for the 2020 junior dance ensemble. The Riverina Junior Dance Ensemble performs at the annual Riverina Dance Festival, the Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod and (if their audition is successful) also at the State Dance Festival in Sydney. The group may also be invited to perform at school and community events in the Albury district throughout the year. Auditions for the Junior dance ensemble are from 4:00 – 5:00pm on Tuesday 26 November at James Fallon HS. If you are interested, please see Miss Milham for further information and application forms. Presentation days 2019: Years 3 – 6: Wednesday 11 December. The assembly will start at 10:45am. Kindergarten: Will have their own assembly at school from 10:00 – 11:00am Year 1 and 2: Will have their own assembly at school from 12:00 – 1:00pm There will be maintenance carried out at the school from 13/11/2019 until 31/01/2020. This is a State Government initiative, to clear the backlog of identified works across all schools in NSW. The works being carried out have been identified by the State, to prevent degradation to school buildings. During the works, the maintenance team will be keeping disruption to the school to a minimum, during school hours. IMD read ‘The Day The Crayons Quit.’ These are the creative letters they

wrote to Duncan who owned the crayon box in the story. We had fun

creating these responses and hope you enjoy reading them.

Miss Dawson and IMD.

Dear Duncan,

Hi, it’s scarlet crayon here.

Why do you use me for all the fire trucks

and hearts? Why can’t I have a break?

And you can use red crayon instead. I bet

red crayon will be happy and when I’m

back you can use me once again.

Your exhausted friend

scarlet crayon.

By Daisy

Dear Duncan,

It’s me silver crayon. It is

really hard for me to colour in ele-

phants. So once in a while I would like

to colour a pebble.

Your friend silver crayon.

By Viduna.

Dear Duncan,

Duncan?

Why do you use me so often? I am tired

Your very angry friend rose

gold crayon!

Canteen and P&C News

Volunteers are always welcome!

Hello parents and carers,

We have a delicious and nutritious new every day lunchtime special.

Creamy Tuna Mornay - made by us in our very own kitchen HQ (the canteen).

It's on sale for $4.50.

The kids have been enjoying our healthy frozen treats from frozen yoghurts to the, always

popular, frozen milk cups.

A huge thanks to our canteen captains - we couldn't do this without them and a special thanks

to Mr Dan Chapman and Mr Pete Ewin for saving us on Fridays. They helped out on the most

hectic day of the week and we are tremendously grateful.

On that note- We really do need volunteers. Please get in touch. Your kids get such joy from

seeing you at their school. We have had almost zero volunteers this term. If you've thought about

helping out - now would be good.

Please try to order online and make sure you get your order in before 9am. There is no flexibility

as the cut off is automated.

The menu can be viewed online at www.quickcliq.com.au
