On28February2018,Sonatrachcompletedtheacquis itionofa3Dseismicsurvey,acrossits AhnetIIexplorationlicenceintheAhnetBasin.The654sqkm“Tirechoumine”programmestartedon16August2017andwasgatheredbytheENAGEO270crew.Thesurveyis centredontheTirechouminegasdiscoveryinthesouthoftheblock.ThefieldwasdiscoveredbyCREPSin1957,afterdrillingtheTirechoumine1(TC1)NFW.ItencounteredgasintheDevonianandreachedaTDof2,514m.InH12008,SonatrachdrilledtheTC2well(TD2,500m).Ittested1.7MMcfg/dona32/64”chokeataWHPof349

On24April2018,EnergyMinisterMustaphaGuitouniandSonatrachCEOAbdelmoumenOuldKaddourinauguratedthe550km,InSalah-Tamanrassetgaspipeline.ThelinehasbeenconstructedinordertosupplygastotheremotecityofTamanrassetinthesouthofthecountry.Aprocessingplanthasalsobeenconstructed,whichhasacapacityof~25MMcfg/d.TotalprojectcostswerereportedasaroundUS$190million.Thegasis beingsuppliedviatheInSalahSouthernFieldsproject,whichis developingsevengasfieldsintheTimimounBasin.Firstgaswasachievedin2004,withthesecondphasedevelopmentongoing.Theprojectis operatedbytheInSalahGasconsortium,whichcomprisesofBP(33.15%),Statoil(31.85%)andSonatrach(35%).

On28March2018,aconcessionmodificationtotheGroupementTouatGaz(GTG)TouatPSCwasgazetted.The1,300sqkmconcessioncomprises11productionlicences,locatedintheSbaaBasin.ThePSCwasoriginallyawardedtoGDFSuezin2002.Inadditiontothreegasfieldsalreadydiscoveredwithinthelicence,afurthersevenweresubsequentlydiscoveredbetween2003-2007.AdevelopmentplanwasapprovedinJune2009,withproductionlicencesawarded,andtheGTGconsortiumformed.Firstgashadbeenplannedfor2017,butis nowslatedforH22018.InFebruary2018,theNeptuneEnergyGroupcompletedtheacquis itionofENGIEE&PInternationalSA(EPI)inaUS$5.1billiondeal.Thetermsofthetake-overweres lightlydifferentinTouat,ascomparedtotherestofthecompany’sassets.Insteadofacompletetakeoverofthecompany’s65%equityintheconsortium,Neptuneacquiredjust35%.EquityinGTGisnowsplit:Neptune(35%),ENGIE(30%)andSonatrach(35%).Itis understoodthatENGIEhaselectedtoretainaninterestinTouat,duetoits positionasamajorLNGplayerinAlgeria.TheGTGprojecthasprovedplusprobablereservesof2.4Tcfgand8.5MMbc.


BP-Tiguentourine-InAmenas-ExtensiontoIlliziBasinproductionlicencegazetted

On28March2018,afive-yearextensiontoBP’sTiguentourine-InAmenasconcessionwasgazetted.TheextensionwasapprovedbytheCouncilofMinisterson14March2018.ThenewtermswillseeUS$500millioninvestedintheIlliziBasinlicence,withcommitmentsincludinga3Dseismiccampaignand60developmentwells .InvestmentswillbefocussedontheTiguentourineField,withoutputaimingtobeincreasedtoover1Bcfg/d,fromthecurrentrateof~800MMcfg/d.

TheconcessionagreementforTiguentourine-InAmenaswasoriginallys ignedbetweenAmocoandSonatrachin1998.Statoilfarmed-intothelicencein2003,withproductioncommencingin2006.AsidefromInAmenas,thePSCagreementis understoodtoincludethreeotherproductionlicencesintheBasin;HassiFarida,HassiOuanAbecheuandHassiOuanTaredert.Equityis splitbetweenBP(24.5%+Op),Statoil(24.5%)andSonatrach(51%).


ENOC-MsariAkabli-ExtensiontoAhnetBasinlicence

NewoperatorENOC,throughitssubsidiaryDragonOil,is understoodtohavebeengrantedatwo-yearextensiontoits MsariAkabliexplorationlicence,locatedintheAhnetBasin.Theextensionis effectivefromJanuary2018.FormeroperatorEnelleftinearly2018,withits 34.3%equityassignedtoDragonOil.Aseismicandwellcommitmentremainunfulfilled,withENOCalsoseekingtoexitthelicence.

Theunder-explored8,096sqkmblockwasawardedtoEnelon29October2014,followingthe4thNational&InternationalRound.ThelicenceincludesexplorationrightsacrosstheTigfermasgasfield.Just14wells havebeendrilledontheacreage,ofwhichsevensuccessfullyencounteredtightgasinthePalaeozoic.AdditionalprospectivityhasbeenidentifiedinthePalaeozoicshales.Threeleadswerealsobeingworkedupinthesouthoftheblock,withathree-wellcommitmentdueinthefirstexplorationperiod;noneareyettobedrilled.A900km2Dseismicprogramme,utilis ingtheENAGEO170crew,wasalsounderstoodtohavebeenplannedforQ32017;thishasalsobeenpostponed.Enelhadinitiatedareviewofits AlgerianupstreamassetsinQ42016,beforeits exit.EquityinMsariAkabliis split:ENOC(49%)andSonatrach(51%,carried).
